Serious: The Dire Desperados Ch 3 - Time to Relax and Reload (Closed)

The bounty hunter captain turned and ran for his ship, and so did the knife wielding woman, the triceratops and the half-giant, with the bird correcting its flight to follow after. They were not going to continue this battle and simply ran away from their respective battles for the moment, cutting them short. They were aiming for the ones still on the bounty hunter ship, trying to force them out. The landed on their ship and advanced on Jace, after the skypiean fell down once more, giving him a chance to leave, but not a chance to stay.

One was missing however. The red haired woman, who was doing work of sabotage. A loud crash was heard from the inside the ship as she struck into the pole, breaking the whole thing into splinters and wrecking the steering mechanism, even somehow shaking the steering wheel slightly out of position.

The marines ignored all of this for now, as they knew exactly what was going on. "We are giving you one more chance!" The marine ships moved slightly closer to block the ways out. "Surrender!"

Jace now found himself facing practically every one of the bounty hunters who had shown up. He briefly wondered if his allies had been beaten, but then dismissed the idea, knowing that they would be fine. For a moment, Jace considered attacking the bounty hunters and slowing them down until the others showed up, but this to was dismissed when he realized that he probably wouldn't last ten seconds against this crowd. He had already suffered to much damage and one or two more good hits would finish him, so he growled out, "We'll finish this later." Jace ran around the group of bounty hunters and flipped over the side of the ship towards the ground below. He landed lightly in the snow and looked around to see what had happened to his friends.

valawxedit looked through a pair of stolen binoculars at the crew and the ship and everything and hid in the town waiting for the right time to strike and his arm and his newly broken leg to heal as he did he inserted small metal rods into the leg causing emense pain then bandaged it hoping to speed the healing with the rods of metal.

Grumbling irritably as her opponent pulled a fast one and escaped from attacking range, Avis' eyes then narrowed crossly as the marine vessels further cut off their routes of escape and suggested they surrender. Stubborn as a stick in the mud, she huffed defiantly, refusing to respond to the marine's bid. When someone else addressed her personally, she turned around to face them with an unpleasant scowl initially. Company was the last thing on her mind, but it didn't take long for her to recognize the two as being Zuzen and Jamil, whom she remembered were both members of the revolutionary Johan's crew. Jamil's queer way of greeting her with a glare was rather difficult to forget, after all.

"You're part of Johan Frideswide's entourage, aren't you?" she said, grinning eagerly. A look of concern began to creep onto her face, however, when she noticed the conspicuous lack of Johan. The thought of the clumsy man being out on his own without support sounded perilous to say the least, and Avis would have been lying if she said she wasn't slightly apprehensive; if not for Johan's health, then the many people he could be causing headaches for.

"My hands are rather full at the moment, actually. While I'd like to think that I could be a bit more hospitable in a normal situation, it would be a splendid idea if you all scampered on out of here, and we might have a chance to catch up as soon as this mess is taken care of." Although Avis wasn't fully confident that the outcome would be in their favor, she kept her smile and gave a strangely unnecessary chuckle in an attempt to strengthen her argument. There wasn't any reason to bring the revolutionaries into the fight. It wasn't their dilemma, and they probably had their own problems to deal with.

"We'd love to, really..."
Zuzen looked close to desperation for some reason.
"It's just that we can't! Someone..."
He glared at Jamil, who was kind enough to ignore him.
"Lost conciousness all of a sudden while steering the ship, and it's in a less than favourable state now! Right, Jamil!?"
Jamil huffed and pulled his hood even deeper in his face. He did a good job not showing it, but he was uncomfortable not being able to hide his face completely.
"And who was it that saved thy hide in the battle of dawn island?"
"Whatever! Didn't give you permission to fall over the reling of our ship! Do you know how hard it was to save you?! Not to mention survive myself after we couldn't get back to the ship?! I had to pull you all the way here! Where's my damn thank you?!"
Jamil huffed dimissively and turned away from him. He seemed to decide it was time to change subjects.
"Alas, it pains me to say so, but it seems our leader has..."
He cleared his throat and made a pause before he continued talking, giving the ground the "I hate you so much for it..." look he would have given Avis otherwise.
"...Would not approve of anything happening to you."
Beside him, Zuzen nodded.
"Thaaat's right, you... Wait, are you saying...?"
Suddenly shocked, he turned to Jamil.
"I mean, c'mon! We've just only got out of a battle! Not to mention the ocean!"
Jamil stopped glaring at the ground and started glaring at Zuzen, who grimaced when he had the displeasure of seeing his face.
After a while, Jamil took a step ahead.
"If you want to explain to our leader why you did not try to protect miss Ridley, go ahead. I, even though I really do not approve of her in the least, am going to do what he would tell me to do, if he was here."
Zuzen sighed.
"You're... hrml.... Fine! For Johan! Not for you!"
He turned to Avis, frowning and displeased.
"You heard it. May just be the two of us at the moment, but that's gotta be enough for now."

((Apologies for being slow to reply, there are a bunch of relatives staying at my place for a few days.))

Avis watched uncomfortably as the two revolutionaries bickered back and forth with each other. She really didn't have much time for this. Glancing at the nonexistent watch on her wrist, her attention then perked up slightly near the end of their conversation.

The thought of the two of them being better 'protectors' than her crewmates was questionable enough to tickle her funny bone in the slightest. Jamil might be of some help, but Zuzen didn't look offensively threatening in the least, at least in her opinion.

"Enough for now, hm?" Avis repeated as she raised an eyebrow with speculation, not entirely convinced about the whole ordeal. "Were you even listening, or simply standing there and watching my jaw move up and down? Unless either of you hide somethin' up your sleeve that can take out an entire fleet of marines, you aren't gonna be of much help!"

Giving a nearly inaudible groan, Avis raised a hand to her head and rubbed one of her temples. She wasn't particularly keen on the two helping out for multiple reasons, but they seemed determined enough, even though she didn't entirely understand their motive. Reluctantly, her second thoughts caused her to knuckle under.

"Fine, do whatever the hell you want," she mumbled abruptly, attempting to appear indifferent as she did so. "I don't exactly have the resources to stop you... But it had better not end up with my crew protecting your lot, alright?"

"Far be it from us to ever let the likes of you protect us!"
Once again, Jamil made it clear with only one sentence just how much he disapproved of this. And of her. And most likely of the world in general.
Even though Zuzen seemed to not really get that part, he still was on his side on one part.
"Yah, right. The reputation of the revolutionaries and Johan is on the line! Though I don't think we can make Johans reputation any worse..."
He sounded less than enthusiastic about risking his life the second time in two days. Still, he halfheartedly drew his sword and waited to jump out of the way of the cannonballs or whatever would be fired at them.

Dontae groaned and rubbed his head with his pistol " Man Maybe I should chase after her, But that would be so troublesome" Dontae then sheath his pistols and picked his jacket and hat up off the ground and started to begin walking away until he heard someone whisper his name " Dontae" Dontae slowly turned around to see a small slim women with long black hair and dark skin wearing a black dress with a weird sign on the back of it Dontae paused for a moment and looked at the girl.
He then let out a huge sigh " Sister what are you doing here?" the girl didn't say anything shit pulled out a briefcase and threw it at the ground before Dontae's feet " Father ask me to give you these and he also told me to tell you to not get yourself killed out here" he voice was soft and filled with joy, she gave Dontae a smile and walked away to a large ship with the flag with the same symbol on the back of the girl's dress " Thanks Sara" Dontae picked up the briefcase and began looking for searching for his crew and captain while caring the heavy briefcase...

The conflicting messages that Jamil was conveying and Zuzen's bleak optimism weren’t giving Avis warm feelings. She would need to remember to sleep with an eye open that night, particularly if Jamil was in the remote area.

"Well then..." Clearing her throat brazenly, she then pointed in the direction of the port where most of the chaos was ensuing. "Without your ship in good condition and the frozen wasteland behind us, the only option I see would be to go directly at the entire group of them with our vessel," she said, careful to watch for any sign that either of them would concede early and bail out.

Without another word, she turned and hastily treaded over near the Sentries' ship where Jace was located, who was the first friendly face she could spot. Her pace quickened further when she saw that he had suffered substantial damage, like usual. Why was it that Jace always looked like a bloody horror show whenever she turned her back?

"Have enough to keep going for a bit longer? For some reason, I doubt the marines'll give us much of a breather," she noted collectedly, her eyes darting towards the gashes on his chest with mild concern for a moment. "Now, where are the others?..."

"Yeah, I'm fine," Jace nodded, while not looking fine in any sense of the word. "I only took a couple of hits to my head and gut." He glanced around once more and then said, "But as to the others, I haven't seen them in a while." Then he looked back at Avis, and for the first time concern crossed his face, but then it was gone in an instant. "How about you?" he asked the captain.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Jace nodded, while not looking fine in any sense of the word. "I only took a couple of hits to my head and gut." He glanced around once more and then said, "But as to the others, I haven't seen them in a while." Then he looked back at Avis, and for the first time concern crossed his face, but then it was gone in an instant. "How about you?" he asked the captain. "You can take a breather if you want. I'll go find the others."

"You do realize that the head and gut are, y'know... required to continue living, right? I've only got a few scratches myself, but you look absolutely dreadful," Avis retorted. Although she felt quite fine overall, she could've sworn that she saw a brief flash of worry in his eye anyways.

Making him any more concerned, if he was on the first place, wasn't something she wanted to do. Debating only for a moment before seating herself on the snow covered ground, deciding to take a breather, whether she thought she needed it or not.

"Hmm, I guess. Knock yourself out," she responded curtly. Moments later she went wide eyed and regretted her word choice, recalling a similar sarcastic comment she made about knocking Dontae out that Jace took quite seriously. A bit too quickly perhaps, she hastily added, "and that last part isn't to be taken literally."

Jace chuckled softly. "Of course not, captain," he said. He changed into his completely bear form and bounded off through the snow, following a scent. It didn't take him long to locate Dontae, who he acknowledged with a roar.

"Addict!" Jace called, running towards him. He skidded to a stop next to Dontae and sat himself down. "We're being called back to the ship. The Marines are coming in fast. Please come back quickly."

As Jace ran up behind Dontae he knew who it was before he even spoke, Dontae was now picking up the huge suit case " Addict huh?" Dontae puts a cigarette in his mouth and started walked " Well aren't you coming?" Dontae said sarcastically as he walked back towards the ship with the suit case in his hand....

Jace growled in irritation, but he shook his head. "No, I'm not coming," he replied. "I'm looking for everyone." He turned and dashed off through the snow, circling back towards the docks until he caught a new scent. It was faint and it was coming from the air, but he could still tell which direction to go. Jace followed this scent until he found Valawxedit hiding in town. He approached the injured man and crouched next to him. "Vala, can you move?" Jace asked. "Climb onto my back if you can. I'll get you back to the ship."

One of the lower marine commanders, incensed, shouted an order to aim the cannons, but was interrupted by the one who apparently captained the fleet. "Captain! Don't!" The captain looked at the commander in puzzlement. "The superiors would have our heads for the PR damage alone. You would hit the civilians and their homes." The commander wasn't about to leave it however.

"LAND BRIDGES!" he shouted throughout the crew with a megaphone, and bridges of blanks were hauled to connect adjacent ships. "Marines of squads 4 to 10! MOBILIZE TO VESSELS 6 TO 8!" The ships started to bustle as marines made their way to the center of the blockade. It had clearly been pre-planned, as the marines did this very quickly. Then suddenly, the bridges were drawn back from the centermost ships, as they moved forth towards the island while the rest of the vessels moved closer to maintain the blockade.

The three vessels, packed with marines, and with the commander at the head of the center ship, approached. They were clearly intending to get their pirates directly.

The red haired hammer wielder appeared from belowdeck, finished with her work of sabotage. She took to a run, aiming to reach the bounty hunter ship as they readied a swift takeoff.

Killua woke up "what the? Captain? guys?" Killua had no clue where he was actually, he realised that maybe it was all those blows he took earlier and he had dozed off after something happened.... but he couldnt put his finger on exactly it was. It puzzled him and looked around to search for where he was in actuality.

As Dontae walked towards the ship he heard Killua yelling " Oi Kid you ok?" Dontae was now dragging the heavy suitcase as he walked towards Killua "The enemies ran and were about to be attacked by some marines, so the captain ordered up to regroup at the ship, Bear guy is off looking for every one else" Dontae dropped the suitcase where it was and ran over to help Killua to his feet...

Avis watched as Jace trampled off to find the others. With his nose it wouldn't take long for him to locate them, so she might as well be productive in the meantime. She was about to board their ship when she saw someone leap off, and proceeded to eye the intruder suspiciously. Who knew how long the girl remained unattended on the ship, and quite frankly, that bothered Avis.

Going beneath deck to check that everything was where it should be, she understood that it wasn't. A pole that looked quite important to the ship's sailing capabilities was utterly demolished, and she simply stood there as if her feet were glued to the floor as her eyes looked in disbelief.

It took a moment for it to sink in, but the instant Avis realized that their only means of escape was grounded she gave a shout of unequivocal outrage. Even if they had a master shipwright onboard and all the materials in the world, there wasn't any way to repair it in time. Bolting back onto the deck, she ran to the railing with a frantic air about her.

"Killua, Dontae! And you two revolutionaries!" she called out fervently. "Stay alert and pull yourselves together! The ship's done for, so we'll have an endless supply of marines to deal with!"

"Oh, wonderful! Just wonderful!"
Zuzen looked a little like he was about to cry... Out of anger or despair?
A short desperate laugh escaped him, and he turned to his comrade, who was as relaxed as if this was an everyday thing for him. Sure, they dealt with hordes of marines every single day!
Well, they did, but they didn't come all at once normally, and they did have a crew with them...
"You hear that Jamil? We're dead!"
He wondered shortly if there was any way for the marines to know he had the black key, but quickly got rid of the thought as fast as he could. Way too unsettling.
Jamil still seemed relaxed.
"We have had far worse things happening to us and our crew, Zuzen."
Oh, so true. It came with serving Johan. But it was undeniably fun.
Well, as long as they won. And it sure didn't look like it right now.

Dontae heard his captain yelling him and Killua were only a few feet away from the ship. Dontae sighed " Seems like we never get any kind of rest around here" Dontae then walks over to the giant briefcase and was in shock * Father you gave me these* Dontae then picks up a giant pistol and a and holder and scraps it on his side. Dontae then stands up and whistles and a large tiger metal walked out of the suitcase.

Dontae then walks over towards his captain with a lit cigarette in his mouth " Oi captain what's your plan that your going to make up on the spot this time?" Dontae had a sarcastic ton in his voice he knew Avis had a gift for making up last minute plans and they seem to work out..

Jace managed to maneuver Valawxedit onto his back by changing into his hybrid form and using his arms to lift him. Carefully, Jace made his way back to the ship after returning to his bear form. He spotted the captain, Dontae, and Killua up ahead and approached them. He took Valawxedit off of his back and set him next to the ship.

"Plan?" Jace questioned, having heard the last few words of what Dontae was saying. "What plan?"

((Grah, apologies for being incredibly lame and inactive lately; work and final exams have a death grip on my soul at the moment. My last exam is tomorrow, and I'll probably crash the rest of the day to make up on my sleep deficit, but I should be back in business within a few days.

The plot is primarily in FD's hands this time, I believe, and Gorefish might have her own parts tossed in as well (that being said, let's not get too far ahead while she's absent). Either poke him 'til he spills the beans or PM me, since my brain activity is pretty much kaput and I'd spout nonsense at the moment. Not to mention, I'm not entirely sure of the more precise specifics quite yet... And yes, it would appear that I'm being a lazy plot moocher yet again. /tl;dr))

"Ah... About that," Avis began with a mutter before raising her voice to a near maniacal level. "Hoping on the ship and making a great comeback kinda was the plan, until it was obliterated outright."

She let this statement linger for a time, allowing either time for the gears to turn in or head and think of another means of outmaneuvering the marines, or for her irritation to sink in due their ship being stolen, taken hostage, or rendered immobile once more. You'd think a self-respecting pirate would learn to guard their own ship by this point, but there were more important things to consider at the moment; getting out of that mess, for example.

"Focus on those three ships approaching us. We'll need to take over at least one of them before the others can back them up," she then said with a sheepish smile. The entire idea was absolutely mad and highly unlikely to succeed, but quite frankly, she was running out of her more sane thoughts after all of the curveballs thrown at them.

(Graargh. I've been sick once again, and quite less energetic than usual, but I'll try to get a post in.)

The bounty hunter ship was trying to make a fast getaway, having gotten all of it's crew on board, with the fishman steering. It appeared they had done their part in this trap.

The three marine vessels were approaching, as if to surround the crew. Considering the force being used, they were clearly taking the crew very seriously. The centermost vessel, captain included, went straight for the Crisis. The other two split off to the sides, aiming to set the marine forces on land on the docks to the side.

The marines in the centermost were fully ready. They were fetching and tying ropes to the fences in the side of the ship and setting planks to move to the docks with. Some seemed to intend the abseil down to the Desperados ship on the ropes. The first marine had done so now, loudly stomping on the deck, with many others starting to follow suit.
