-Appearance information-
Physical appearance:

Body:  Red Fujiwara stands at 5ft 8 inches and weighs approximately 9 stone (but don’t ask her about it). She has very pale skin from spending a lot of time either in the shadows, in a pub or in the bedroom.  In terms of bone structure , Red  has an hourglass figure and rather lithe arms and legs. Her calf and forearms are built from both metal-work and the general hardship of the life at seas.  Red is a busty girl with a nicely shaped D cup rack and a round rear to match.  Although she was quite chubby as a young adolescent, Red has worked this off through years of dodging marines, training, fighting and running (from whoever she’s managed to tick off), thus she has a flattened stomach.

Face:  Red has a slender, heart-shaped face and high cheek bones. Her nose is long but straight and her lips are peony red, in a stark contrast to the rest of her pale skin. Her ears are roughly at level with her eyes and are slightly larger than average so she tends to hide them with her hair. Her teeth are generally straight aside from a slightly dislodged canine on the right side of her upper jaw. Red’s eyes are large, round and icy blue in colour, rimmed with thick, sooty eyelashes.

Hair: As her nickname suggests, Red has naturally dark scarlet hair. Her hair, upon closer inspection, is darker- almost black- at the roots, gradually lightening to a brighter, rosier red at the tips. Her hair falls to her mid back and is naturally curly, coiling into gentle ringlets. Red also has a full fringe that covers her forehead. Red’s eyebrows are also a dark scarlet and groomed into a slender shape. As far as bodily hair goes, Red’s “carpets” match her curtains but she likes to keep everything bare aside from her head hair and eyebrows for aesthetic purposes.

Non visual information: Red has low voice for a woman, (an “alto” voice in music terms), and generally her voice only becomes very high-pitched if she’s overly excited, feeling squeamish or taken by surprise. Red usually either smells of red wine, (due to her affinity for the drink), mapping ink or lavender perfume. Similarly, her mouth usually tastes of some variety of red wine.  Due to excessive and vain care, Red’s skin is rather soft, aside from the scars that mark her arms, which are rough trenches to touch.

Extra features:  Red has a tattoo of a red, thorny rose on her right shoulder blade, pierced ears with both the lobes and the pinna pierced on each side. Red also has a set of burn-scars on each of her arms , near to her wrist joints and one or two faded scar lines across her back.

Clothing:
Day to Day
Red’s most commonly worn outfit is a pair of small, tight denim shorts, a snugly fitting white blouse, a black waist-corset and a pair of black leather ankle boots. If it’s a little colder than usual, she’ll add a red velvet jacket to this attire. In terms of jewellery, Red adds a simple, dainty silver chain to her neck and wears silver clamp-style earrings.  If the weather heats up, Red will swap her blouse and waist-corset for a red bikini top. If she’s working aboard a ship or training, she’ll add a pair of black fingerless gloves to this outfit.

Alternate
If Red finds herself in a colder climate than what she’s used to, she’ll wear a full dark-red bustier with a black rose print design. She’ll wear a pair of long black denim jeans with this and a pair of black heeled boots. She wears silver bangles on her wrists with this outfit and silver hooped earrings. If Red is trying to concentrate, she will pin her hair back and wear it under a black, three-cornered hat. She would often be seen with a pair of black leather gloves in this outfit too.

Elegant Evening Wear
If she has to attend a special event or there’s a special occasion going on, Red will usually wear a long floor-length red dress with a slit running from her left thigh downward. The dress is strapless and rhinestone detailed. Red will also add a set of dainty ruby earrings and black stiletto heels to accompany this ensemble.  

Make Up
Red’s trademark visual feature aside from her hair are her naturally red lips, which she always paints with scarlet lipstick just to make certain that they look their fullest. Red usually does not wear any make up aside from this and some mascara to accentuate her eyelashes.

-Personality information-

Reiko is- at her core- a rather serious, determined woman with a definite stubborn, obstinate streak. She has a naturally defiant nature but is capable of loyalty and compassion when she meets those who deserve it.  However, her defensive, con-artist behaviours often make it difficult to uncover this more caring side to her. Prone to acting big-headed or uncaring about dangerous situations, Red can also appear rather lazy and irresponsible though this is not the actual case.
She is often an involuntary flirt but also a coy seductress when she needs to be- her promiscuity being one of the key points of her personality. Her awareness of her own charms and skills has given her a tendency to appear haughty, shallow and vain. Despite her sometimes over-confidence however, Red is first and foremost, courageous at all times and has a strong sense of justice and endurance.  Red is firmly greedy and will often resort to devious means of making money or advancing herself in life. She is not above cheating, lying or (quite obviously) stealing by any means.  
Additionally Red can be snarky, impatient and slightly reckless when it comes to making decisions. Often she will react to a situation before fully thinking it through, resulting in her making a cheeky comment, hitting someone or sleeping with someone before giving a second thought to the potential consequences.
Once again though, this reckless front is a façade that disguises a witty, enduring spirit.

Likes, Dislikes, Hopes and Fears:  

In an extremely blunt sense Red likes money. More specifically, Red likes living the fine life. As she lived in a very poor area growing up, she is extremely appreciative of and very drawn to all of life’s glamour and luxuries- including fine foods, fine wines, fine clothes and fine ships. Red’s second biggest love is (also quite bluntly) sex. She has a high level of confidence and skill in the bedroom and tries to show it off as often as she can, whether it’s for business or for pleasure.
On the less shallow hand, Red loves having a good laugh, loves a good fight and is secretly quite a romantic…even if you’d have to torture her to get her to reveal that to you, (or buy her a few more drinks than she can handle).
Red certainly dislikes any establishment or any individual affiliated to the World Government and deeply despises any member of the Marine Corps. She’s also easily irritated by people who are stuffy, dull, overly conservative and just plain boring, (in her eyes). A seriously competitive individual, Red also hates being defeated in any competition in which she feels that she should have the upper hand.
Red’s greatest hope is to one day meet her mother’s former Nakama and learn about her secret former life as a pirate. Her second greatest hope is to one day find and kill the individuals who named her parents as former pirates during the raid on her home village. Her third greatest hope is to find true happiness and satisfaction- in whatever form it may come in.
Red suffers from terrible aquaphobia. While she’ll happily lounge in a bath or pool for hours, if she finds herself near the edge of a body of natural water, she’ll start to grow uncomfortable. The reason for this is two-fold: not only is she a Devil Fruit User but Red also watched her brother drown in the sea when she was ten years old, unable to help him.

-History information-**

Birth
Reiko Fujiwara was the second child born to Shigeru and Kaede Fujiwara, preceded by her older brother of five years, Takeo. Kaede’s midwife remarked that Reiko was a “lucky baby” as was her brother before her, as neither infant was expected to survive due to Kaede’s poor health.
On the night that she was born, in a fringe village, on a small island in South Blue, Kaede’s bleeding was taking longer than normal to stop and Shigeru, panicking- quickly moved his infant daughter to a cradle, telling her five year old brother to watch over her while he fetched the village doctor.
Thankfully, the doctor and Shigeru arrived in time to stifle and stop Kaede’s bleeding but the young mother panicked at the moment she heard that her husband had left the newborn baby with her five year old brother.
When they went to check on Takeo and Reiko, however, the baby was cooing gently as she gazed up sightlessly and her chuckling older brother. He remarked: “It’s funny. She looks like a little naked mole-rat…” but after seeing his mother’s expression, quickly added: “But she looks like a lovely, beautiful naked mole-rat so don’t worry, Mama.” This incident prompted Takeo to constantly refer to his sister as “Rei-‘nee-chan”, (Rei = “beautiful”, onee-chan= “little sister”), which led to Kaede and Shigeru naming their little girl: Reiko, (Reiko= “beautiful child”).

Childhood
Reiko had a fairly conventional childhood aside from her best friend being a sixty-one year old, ranch owner named Marty. He was an old friend of Kaede’s and also their next door neighbour. When Takeo was ten and Reiko was five, Marty caught the two of them trying to steal apples from his private orchard. Annoyed but impressed by little Reiko’s sharp tongue for her age, he let them keep the apples (and promised not to tell their parents) provided that they came back the following day to help him pick apples for that year’s harvest. Forced by Takeo, the two returned to the orchard the following day and soon began to make out a habit of coming over to Marty’s ranch, helping to pick apples and enjoying a lemonade with him while listening to his tales of life on the high seas.
It was Marty who was the first to give Reiko Fujiwara her (in)famous nickname, often ruffling her hair and saying: “Good job, Red!” after a long day of apple-picking.
Newly-dubbed “Red” soon started to insist that everyone at school call her by her greatly favoured nickname and thus, it soon became her title throughout the entire village.  
It was around the time that Red turned eight that she started to resent her parents for being of both low-income status and for being what she considered “boring.”
Kaede was a house-wife and Shigeru was a blacksmith and neither had very much money or time to spend on or with their children.
From a young age, influenced by Marty’s tales of the great riches to be found beyond the horizons of their little village, Red declared that she would one day be free from the dull, conventional confines of the island’s borders.

Adolescence
Red’s plans were put on hold when tragedy struck when she was twelve years old. Takeo, who was seventeen, went swimming with her in a small isolated cove. While Red was changing into her bathing suit in the bushes, Takeo slipped and fell into the water. Hearing him shouting, Red immediately ran back out to the cove but her brother had already been caught into a rip-tide and dragged underwater.  Following this incident that claimed her brother’s life, Reiko and her family were plunged into despair.
Shigeru had been set on Takeo continuing the male Fujiwara tradition as a blacksmith but with his only son dead, so was his dream. When she was thirteen, Red offered herself to her father as an apprentice and after lengthy periods of begging, he finally agreed to train her. The training was difficult and her father was severe with her, rarely encouraging her and criticising her work rather harshly. Red suffered multiple burns on her arms from working in the forge but she refused to give up and soon was capable of constructing furniture, repairing basic metal items and sharpening weapons.
Just when the Fujiwaras were recovering from the death of their son, a second disaster struck. An outbreak of hysteria had broken out a nearby island, following a pirate raid, sent crowds of marines headed for Red’s home island. There were no (active) pirates hiding on the island but in the height of the panic and desperate to make arrests, the marines ransacked each house- looking for evidence of pirates living there. An unknown individual tipped the marines off that Kaede Fujiwara was an ex-pirate and after matching her up to her Wanted poster, the marines arrested her. They also arrested Shigeru Fujiwara for attempting to help his wife to resist arrest. Following a presentation of false evidence, both of Red’s parents were publically execute.
Alone at fifteen years old, Red was taken in by Marty- her dear friend and neighbour. Often angry and distraught, Red would spend a lot of time in the orchard, using Marty’s old lunge whip to slice at the bark on the trees to vent her frustration. Initially, she would sometimes whip her own back by accident, resulting in several scars becoming embedded in her back. After a while, however, she became so skilled with the whip that Marty started asking her to bring his bison and cows out to feed for him. It was during her time as a cattleherd that she met a village boy named Kai. He was an old friend of Takeo’s and had also been distraught following his death. The two conversed, consoled and comforted each other and a little after her sixteenth birthday, Red lost her virginity to Kai whilst the two were taking shelter from a rainstorm in a forest cave.  
As the two were redressing, Kai joked about the fact that Red was a virgin, prompting the following exchange:
“Why is it funny that I was a virgin? I’m like three years younger than you…”
“I dunno…I just thought…well, you’re so pretty. All the guys in town want to get into bed with you. I’m just kinda shocked that I was really the first to ask…”
That short snippet of a conversation taught Red something very valuable: she was desirable. Later, this single fact of knowledge would encourage Reiko Fujiwara to become one of the most infamous seductresses on the Grand Line.

Seventeenth Birthday
On her seventeenth birthday, Marty took Red aside, speaking seriously to her for the first time in years. It rather scared her to see her friend’s once calm face grow so concerned. He told her that it was finally the time that she should learn the truth. Her mother may have been an ex-pirate but so was he. He had been one of her mother’s Nakama. He had been the ship’s helmsman while she had been the ship’s navigator.
Marty waited until Red’s seventeenth birthday to tell her the full story because Kaede had been seventeen when he first met her. He confessed to have fallen in love with her mother upon their first meeting but that he had known in his heart that she would never return his feelings. Instead he swore to take care of her for as long as they knew each other.
Marty told Red that their crew had been forced to dock in that island during an instance of bad weather and while they were shopping for supplies, Kaede wandered into Shigeru’s forge and instantly fell in love with him.
A few years later, Kaede returned to the island to marry the blacksmith who had waited for his pirate and Marty followed her back, keeping his promise to forever look after her by moving into the farm-house next door to Kaede’s family.
After rifling through her family’s home, she found a chest of her mother’s belongings under the floorboards including a log-pose, an astrolabe, a set of navigational charts, all of her logs and few of her mother’s old diaries from her time at sea.
Following an entire week of reading her mother’s accounts of her time as a pirate, sailing the four great oceans, Red had made up her mind: she was heading out to sea.

Adult Years
Red gave a fond farewell to Marty and her friends in the village and stowed away on a merchant ship, letting it take her across South Blue. She kept herself entertained as she hid in the lower decks of the ship by reading her mother’s notes and teaching herself navigational tricks.
Quickly realising that she who takes to the seas needs funds to get by, Red quickly took to stealing from sailors at port, merchants in taverns and occasionally, a hapless marine ensign or two.
The more she stole, the more she became skilled at her trade, however, she was no expert yet.  It was approximately four months into her voyages when Red was caught stealing Beli from a man at a bar who turned out to be a Marine Lieutenant. A quick search of her belongings revealed several other stolen items from people in the area.  Enraged, he took her straight to the local base with the intent of getting her locked up. Fearing imprisonment, Red quickly gave into her impulses and started to flirt the Lieutenant, amazed when he returned her advances. Realising that this could be her ticket out, so to speak, Red hastily offered him a night of pleasure if he agreed to look the other way, adding that she wasn’t a real criminal or anything and that she’d only stolen one or two things. The Lieutenant agreed and Red was set free the following morning with her belongings returned and “a slap on the wrist.”
This was the start of a long and illustrious pattern of events.  Red soon realised that charm and flirtation were deadly weapons in the arsenal of a thief.  
Now with a new means of avoiding arrest, Red improved her skills of stealth and thievery once again. One night, stowing away in the holding area of a trade ship, Red got particularly hungry and happened upon a strange looking fruit in a box. Without thinking twice, the red-haired thief ate the entire fruit whole.  
Horrified at the fact that parts of her body were now spontaneously starting to disappear, Red raked through her mother’s diaries and realised that she’d eaten the Suke Suke no Mi, giving her ability to turn herself invisible but sacrificing her ability to swim .
After honing this ability, Red now had a new talent with which to advance herself in life.
And as a thief armed with both invisibility and navigating know-how, she soon attracted the attention of a pirate captain…

Dangerous Exploits
Shortly after her eighteenth birthday, Red shot a marine with his own flintlock pistol following a brief scuffle when she tried to steal gunpowder from him. On this occasion, she publically declared herself a pirate and taking the flintlock pistol, shot two more attacking marines out of pure spite before fleeing the scene.
She was later approached in a tavern by Captain Skylar Baudelaire of the Sea Sirens. She accepted a position on her crew as a navigator. As one of the Sirens, she spent the next two years pillaging at ports, raiding marine bases and improving her navigational skills as well as her hand-to-hand combat.
Realising that she’d need greater protection than just invisibility and a sexy smirk, Red fashioned a long, metal reinforced whip. Remembering her practice with the bull whip she had used on Marty’s ranch, Red spent her spare time training herself with the weapon.
After two happy years with the Sirens, Red left the crew to make her way to the Grand Line. On occasion, she’d meet up with other crews and occasionally travel with them as their navigator (or the captain’s latest fling) on a temporary basis. It was around this time that she gained her nickname: “The Crimson Thief.”
Her most devious exploits came during her twenty first year when she joined the Black Brothel Pirates. After taking part in the horrific raid of a mining town in which she participated in the murder, mutilation and sexual assault of over one hundred individuals.
Red used the Black Brothel crew to get her to the Grand Line and eventually left to train alone and to pursue her idiosyncratic goals once more.


Relationships with other characters:
Kaizen "The Shadow Snake" Shikkaku*: Red's team-mate/team-leader/on-off lover.
Red has allied herself with Kaizen and has joined him as a freelance assassin, agreeing to help in the achievement of his goals in order to advance herself in the process. Their relationship is a complicated one: while Red feels evident contempt for Kaizen's previous actions against her and resents the fact that he coerced her into joining him, she also feels oddly drawn to the man with ambition who just won't seem to yield to her will. All of their conversations are loaded with wit, flirtation and double-entendre with both usually trying to gain the psychological (and physical) upper hand. Red and Kaizen's relationship is additionally a sexual one (and a very violently sexual one at that).

Talents: Red is very good at reading chart maps of large spaces of open water and estimating distance based on astrolabe readings, i.e. readings taken from points in the sky. Red is also quite good at lying and has developed a penchant for mimicking accents in order to convince officials or locals of any fake heritage she may lay claim to.
Red is furthermore quite manipulative and when given enough reason to, can see through most lies.
