Serious; Salty's and Johnny's journeys; Chapter 3; Off to another adventure: The secret behind Mirage Island (Open to me and Shad0w)

After the events at the area of Whiskey Peak, Salty, the head of the marines photograpy department, and Johnny, Salty's right hand man, were assigned with a task. They had to go to Blue Stripe and escort the Troll Pirates, the powerful pirate crew that they caught in Whiskey Peak, to Vice Admiral Niiro, while also they had to take pictures of the pirates who were there in order to send them to another department of the marines to clear their bounties. Because they caught the pirates by themselves, Salty and Johnny were also promoted and Salty received the rank of Commodore in the rankings of the marines, while Johnny was a marine Captain. And now, while they are on their way to Blue Stripe, another adventure was about to take place...

On the road to Blue Stripe, the ship of the photography department was sailing at the seas. Along with Salty and Johnny there was another member of the marines. The marine wore a white robe with two blue vertical stripes at the place of the shoulders. On his back, he wore the standard marine coat and he carried a sword with him. He was almost bald and he had only one black hair on his head. His eyes were black and he had a moustache.

"Oh, remind me again, why are you here?" Salty questioned the marine while the ship was moving.
"Erm, Commodore Peppery, you are really forgetful!" the man said with a very pitched voice which was very funny. (Imagine a chipmunk voice)
"Oh, sure I am..." Salty said while laughing and he took a sly look on his face. It looked like he was questioning the man, just to make him speak and laugh.

"The Headquarters are abusing us a bit now, don't they?" Johnny says, while at the same time, and completely unfitting to that statement, resting on a ranch, with his hands over his head, wearing a swimsuit and a, orange and blue, floral-designed open shirt.
"Right after all that, they want us to get that one done too .. well, then again, I'm sure they'll reward us with a party .. I hope they will have all kinds of juice, even from rare fruits.." He keeps on talking, mainly to himself, and grabs the glass that was on top of a small table next to him, and takes a sip from the strawberry-flavored drink.
"So, we are really going to go to Blue Stripe? It's quite a distance .. more importantly .. can I come out now?!" A figure appears from behind the half-opened door that was connecting the inside of the ship with the deck. His hand, the only thing that's coming out of that door, is moving around, as if he tries to get the men's attention.

"I hope so, too, what about you, Fino-san?" Salty responded to Johnny and then gave the right to Fino to speak, as he wanted to listen to his extremely funny voice and laugh once more.
"Indeed." Fino said with a smile on his face. "That is the reason I came here in the first place. I was asked to be sent here in order to be with two successful marines and share the benefits of the parties after each one of their mission is finished. There is totally nothing else behind that!" Fino said quickly and with his funny, as always, pitched voice and Salty frowned upon listening to what he said, but he decided to ignore that.

Then, a hand appeared behind the door, trying to get the attention of the three men who were around. The hand was no other than the hand of Douche, the former member of the Troll Pirates, who were being escorted to the prison of Blue Stripe. Shocking everybody at the deck, Douche showed himself. This time, in order to not be recognised, Douche was wearing a silly disguise. He wore a very big white moustache on his face and very big glasses, bigger than his head. However, it was pretty obvious that it was him.

"H-Hide you stupid bastard!!!" Salty yelled and Fino took a strange look on his face. He was suspecting that Salty and Johnny had done something...

[Flashback]

As Johnny and Salty are about to leave from Whiskey Peak, along with the arrested members of the Troll Pirates, including Douche, the marines were giving them a few instructions "Beware of those pirates... They look funny and innocent. That is their biggest advantage. Do not make the mistake to befriend anyone of them!". However, while they were speaking those words, something weird happened. Apparently, Douche seemingly broke his handcuffs and he dropped a smoke bomb on the ground. Then, as soon as the smoke cleared off, most of the marines were shocked to see that he had already disappeared, while Johnny and Salty had a very suspicious look on their faces that indicated happiness. They looked at each other with that face (imagine a megusta face) and they smiled evily before saying "Too bad that guy escaped..."

[Flashback behind flashback]

Some time earlier, while the marines do not notice, Douche is yelling to have himself freed, while Johnny and Salty appear in front of him. "Do not talk!" Salty said to him and the two of them gave him a smoke bomb and unlocked his handcuffs, freeing him off. "Th-THANK YOU, GUYS!!!" Douche said with tears all over his face, before getting smacked by Johnny and Salty in order to shut up.

"Huh? Who is that guy?" Fino questioned... "Don't tell me he is..."
"Erm, he is..." Salty tried to explain himself.
"I am Douche-" Douche said but before he completed his sentence, Salty interrupted his speech.
"Douchebag! Chief Petty Officer Douchebag!" he lied to Fino.
"No!!!!" Douche said and then he approached Salty and hugged him. "I am your pal and friend, the one and only, the unformidable Douche Louche, former member of the Troll Pirates with a bounty of... Yes, you won't even believe it! ZERO BELI!"
"HUUUUUUUUUUUH?!" Salty's jaw dropped for two reasons. One because of the man's bounty and secondly because of the fact that he revealed his identity to Fino.
"Oh, you were a pirate?" Fino asked him.
"Yes!" Douche proudly said.
"Cool." Fino remarked and smiled while Salty took a poker face because of the unexpected turn of the events.

The next moments was something that nobody would ever expect it to happen. Douche and Fino, after introducing themselves, they were dancing together in a disco-like manner and they started singing with a microphone that they found out of nowhere. Douche was singing with a very bass voice that was annoying, while Fino would sing with his pitched voice. Even the birds who were flying around the ship left, in order to not listen and see to the two.

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!" Salty questioned Johnny with a loud voice, only to see Johnny drinking his orange juice, just like always. "AAAAAAAARGH!!!" Salty scratched his head. The madness was doubled! There was not only Douche, but there was Fino as well. And while he was thinking of a way to deal with the two, something other would happen...

"Peropero. Peropero. Peropero. Peropero." Salty's Den Den Mushi rang and everybody stopped moving. "Peropero. Peropero. Peropero.". What was going on? Who was calling Salty in the middle of nowhere?!

"Well, considering the background check I made on that pirate crew, it seems that there is a title of someone called "The Unspottable", who is supposedly a crafty man, that for some mysterious reason the Marines have no actual name of .." Johnny casually says, and Douche turns, stops dancing around, and scratches his chin.
"Ah .. I'm that guy, I forgot." He simply claims, and at that time Johnny smirks a bit, and returns to his "sleep". "Wonderful, we never heard you say that, so you are a free man."
"What? But I just said it's me!" Douche tries to argue with the man, but him, just like the rest of this peculiar team, stops goofing around, due to the sound of a Den Den Mushi ringing. Who could it be?

"Huh? An answer?!" a voice behind the Den Den Mushi was heard.
"Erm... Yeah." Salty said with a casual voice, while the others, Fino, Douche and Johnny moved around the Den Den Mushi. The four of them were forming a circle behind the communication device.
"AH! I-I need help!" the voice behind the Den Den Mushi said and everybody stopped. Help? What was going on there?

"Help? Hmmm .. who is this?" Johnny calmly says, without letting anyone else talk or them all potentially talking with each other about this unexpected call.
"It must be a sea monster! Or .. GASP, A MERMAID! I'm sure it wants to lure us somewhere and eat us!" Douche says, and goes to kick the Den Den Mushi away, but Johnny grabs it at such speed that Douche is left wondering where did it go, while at the same time, Johnny also dragged Salty and Fino with him so they can listen to what's going on.

"It doesn't matter who I am... They are here! They are killing us!!!" the man said quickly, while also the sound of a being fuss was heard behind him. "I don't know who you are, but HELP MEEEEE!!!" the man yelled.
"Wait! Where are you?! There aren't any islands around us!" Salty said and the others around him nodded.
"Huh? What do you mean-Oh, I see. It's morning!" the mysterious man behind the Den Den Mushi said.
"HUH?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" Salty yelled at the man.
"Listen... You have to stay there until the night... You are near Mir-SSSSSSSSSSSSSSH". Before the man finished his explanation, the line was cut off before the man clearly explained. All there was left was a simple hint. Salty and the others would have to stay there until the night...

"What did he just say?" Salty questioned everybody.
"I don't really know what he said..." Fino continued speaking, in a manner that he was simply continuing the rhetoric question of Salty.
"Huh? Are you dump or deaf? He said we have to wait until the night!" Douche gave an answer, only to annoy Salty who punched him in the face in order to shut him up.
"THAT WAS A RHETORIC QUESTION!!!" he said with an angry yet funny look on his face. "Anyway... What are we going to do?" he questioned Johnny, as he wanted to see what his friend had in his mind about what they should do.

"...Ah?" Douche says, as he also turns towards Johnny. Or rather, where he was standing, because he is not there. A few moments pass with everyone looking around, still not realizing what's going on, before Douche grabs his head, and begins to scream.
"Oh dear! HE WAS EATEN BY THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND THAT IS INVISIBLE!" He screams, and begins to run around, before smacking onto the mast.
"Down here." A familiar voice is heard, it's him, Johnny, on a small boat, and he is actually getting away. "I'll check around to see if there's anything around here!" He casually says, even thumbing up to the others.

"No need to, Johnny-sama!!!!!!!" Fino's pitched and cheering voice was heard and he revealed a map that he found out of nowhere, in a same manner with the microphone before. "I have already checked the place where we all are. We are nearby the Swirling Whirlpools, a small complex of sea-whirlpools which are very dangerous. Many ships have shipwrecked there and they were not found... Even Marine Ships have vanished at the area."
"HUUUUUUUH?! VANISHED?!" Salty screamed in fear but then he regained his senses again.
"Moreover, the Swirling Whirlpools are circular, so something might be inside their circle... However, if we get close to the whirlpools, we will be able to see at the other side and it is nothing more than clear sea. And on top of that, the circle inside the whirlpools is too small, so if there is an island it would be extremely small!" Fino continued speaking swiftly, ignoring the fact that Salty was so scared that he did not even laugh when he listened to his pitched voice.
"Hm, wait, where did you learn all that stuff?" Salty said and he turned his head towards Johnny and Douche for a moment to see what they would say. Then, he turned his head to Fino once again, seeing a book on his hand, that appeared out of nowhere, in a similar way with the microphone and the map.
"Here!" Fino said with a cheering voice.
"Seriously, do you have more?" Salty questioned him with a surprised look on his face and then he turned towards the others. "So, guys, what are we going to do? Shall we go through the swirling whirlpools?" he said. Salty did not want to give a command without taking the opinion of Douche and Johnny. After all, they were his friends and their opinions mattered...

"Ah .. guys .. I think Juice-guy went a bit too close.." Douche says, and points with his index finger towards the direction of those whirlpools. There's Johnny's boat, no one seems to be on board. Although, just a few seconds later, the boat begins to move fast, and spinning around what seems to be one of the whirlpools, before it gets crashed!
"Ah .. I think he died." Douche adds up to what he said before, without seeming to get that this would be really bad. However, a hand is seen grabbing onto the deck, and Johnny leaps back up. "I went too close.." He calmly explains, like it was a normal thing what just happened. "So.." He continues, stoic and ignoring that he nearly died due to his curiosity. "Shall we wait until an island magically appears? Sounds too weird to me.. also, someone should keep an eye on the captives, huh?"

"YOU SURE DID!" Salty said with an angry look on his face about his comrades' unexpected action. That guy... He was always disappearing from the spot Salty and the others were and he would be one step forward. Although that was annoying Salty from times to times, that was also one of the many things that he liked about Johnny. And even if Johnny did that all the time, Salty could not do anything and he just had to bear it... After all, Johnny was his pal and his best friend.

"I don't know Johnny... We don't have time... That guy looked like he was in a very big need of help... I guess we should go now..." Salty said with a worried look on his face. "Whatever..." Salty finished and then he sighed. He closed his eyes for a second and then when he opened them again, he looked at Fino, who was near a board. The board was written and it was a plan that the man had about how they would get into the island. This time, Salty did not even bother to commend anything about how the board appeared out of nowhere. He simply stared with surprise and he listened to what the Marine Commander was saying to himself and the others.

"Okay... " Fino started explaining. "The plan is simple. My calculations about the success of the plan say that there is a 95.6% possibility. We are marching like Johnny-san did, but with the ship." he explained, always speaking with his pitched voice. However, now nobody would laugh as they got used to it.
"I like that~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!" Douche said.
"You surely don't!!!!!!" Salty yelled at Douche but then he scratched his head. It looked like he was thinking of something. "Well, I guess we don't have another choice..." Salty said and he gave his command with a determined voice "Fino, steer the ship! We are passing through the Swirling Whirlpools!".

"Well, you guys are really weird, but alright, could have some rare fruits, this island we are heading, I'd love to try out some exquisite juice." Johnny says, in a serious tone, and with his arms crossed, while standing with one leg at the edge of the ship's nose, in contrast to the reason of why he thinks it's fine that they should attempt this, juice.
Douche comes next to Johnny, and, with his large mallet touching the deck, while he holds the handle above his shoulder, his leg also on the ship's nose, he tries to mimic Johnny, thinking that he's so cool, to speak out his reason. He then decides to speak out something of his own.
"I'm sure that .. there will be lots of sexy girls amongst those who screamed for help. Maybe if the bad demon didn't killed or ate them, they'd hook up with me-I mean, us, because of us being heroes."
"Juice from all the fruits of the world..."
"Beautiful busty women..."
Well, at least Douche's "normal" enough to be a pervert. That was new.

In a similar manner, while the other passengers of the ship were doing their own weird stuff, Salty was also ready to do his own weird stuff. As the two men were taking their weird poses, Salty set up his tripod and he took a picture of them. While the crew was going into that new adventure, Salty decided to take pictures of them so that he would actually have some proof about the events that were about to unfold. That way, he could also keep a good journal that would show the events that took place between the men.

"HEY! STAND STILL!" he yelled in a funny way at his friends as he took the pictures. He was taking pictures one after another. For a moment, he even forgot that he was about to go on a dangerous adventure. However, things were about to change as the ship reached the Swirling Whirlpools. The ship was shaking around and Salty was about to vomit. The ship was making complete circles and the experience was so scary that Salty had almost peed himself. "HUUUUUUUUUUH?!" Salty was yelling as that happened. "You said that there was a 95.6% possibility, FINO!" he said to the Marine Commander.

"Well, I meant that the possibility of failing was a 95.6%. Maybe I forgot to mention that." he said to Salty and the Commodore fainted as soon as he listened to that.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!" Fino yelled afterwards and he gave everything he had in steering the ship so that he would survive the whirlpools. The ship kept moving around. This would happen for many minutes, around 10 or maybe 20 and in the end, the ship would reach the middle of the largest whirlpool. Everything looked like the ship was about to sink, however in the last second, the ship was repeled away from the force of the currents and it was thrown away in the circle between the whirlpools. For everybody, the area around became darkness momentarily as that happened.

"BAP!" the sound of the ship crushing on a surface was heard afterwards and everybody was able to see again. However, something weird was going on. The ship was not on the sea's surface anymore. Instead, it was in the middle of a very small beach. The small beach, which didn't seem to be very long, was in fact the island. It was a small circular island that was only consisting of the beach. Around it, only sea could be seen and nothing else. From every direction anybody would look at, he would definitely see the sea. That was also another proof about how small the island was.

"It looks like we arrived somewhere!" Fino said with his pitched voice.
"Huh? Am I dead?" Salty said while waking up. Then, he looked at the beach that was around the ship and the sea from every direction. "Yeap, I am dead." he finished.

What was going on?! Where did the four men arrive?!

"Oi oi oi .. this is bad.." Douche starts to say, with a serious, albeit cold look on his face, enough to even startle the others into thinking that he is about to reveal a horrible secret. However, he then resumes, yelling "THIS MUST BE THE SEA HYDRA'S BELLY! WE GOT SWALLOWED INTO VIA THE WHIRPOOLS! AND IT'S ALL THE SQUIRREL'S FAULT!" he says, making an angry face fault, and pointing his finger towards Fino. This guy should really get a life, one could think about how Douche believes in the existance of just about anything that comes from fairy tales.
"Better relax, my weird friend, for Hydras really do exist." Johnny casually says, much to Douche's utter horror, and jumps off to the beach, and has a look on the ship. His eyes widen a bit, they can see it, because when he saw what he saw, he raised his shades onto his forehead. "Ai ai, that's bad. We have a hole. Still, impressive that we are still alive, you are a good helmsman, Fino-san." He remarks, and puts the glasses once more.

"Thanks a lot, Johnny-sama!" Fino said with a smile on his face and then he jumped off the ship towards Johnny. The way he jumped was easily proving that the man was not a regular marine. Much like Johnny, he looked like he was capable of demonstrating great power. However, that was not something that mattered... After all, the place looked very empty.

"Huh? We are alive?" Salty's voice was heard from above the ship and he tried to jump down towards Johnny's and Fino's place. However, as he jumped, he fell with the face on the beach, eating some sand from the beach. "OUCH!" he yelled as he fell on the beach.
"Be careful, Salty-sama!" Fino's pitched voice was heard and then he tried to give Salty his hand in order to help him get up.

However, while he was doing so, Douche aslo fell from the ship. Imitating Salty, Douche attempted to jump down from the ship and much like Salty, his jump was a big failure. But, unlike Salty, he did not fall on the beach. Instead he fell on Salty's back, making Salty fall on the beach once again, while Douche would casually sit on his back.

"Where is Salty???" he said with his troll like voice.
Fino looked at him with a face like nothing was going on. "Right below you." he said with his pitched voice.
"Yes, right below you, I am!!!" Salty said and he got up, throwing Douche on the ground. "Anyway... It looks like we arrived on some island... But where are we? I doubt this is the island we are looking for..." the Commodore said and he scratched his head. "I guess we should have waited until the night..." he finished speaking and he took a deep breath.
"I guess we have to inspect the place first, right?" Fino commented and Salty nodded.
"I guess we should..." he agreed. "Let's split up and start searching for any clues on this island... Well, this beach..." Salty finished.

"OKAY!" Fino said and then Salty looked towards his direction, once again. This time, Fino somehow made a board appear right next to him, in a similar way like he did before, while they were on the ship. On the board, the faces of the four people, Johnny, Salty, Douche and Fino were drawn. Next to them, the words West, East, North and South were written. "I already divised the plan. Johnny-sama, inspect the West side of the island. Salty-sama will inspect the East side, Douche will go to the North side and I will get to the South side. How does that sound?".

"Hey, I am the boss here!" Salty yelled at Fino with a funny expression on his face.
"Right." Fino said before he run towards his direction.
"Whatever... Let's go with his plan I guess." Salty said and he also started moving towards the direction that Fino assigned to him.

What would the four men find on the island?!

"Ah .. the Juice-man left again!" Douche says, but then notices that everyone else is now departing, for their individual "posts". Johnny did vanished a tad too soon thought, making the trollish man wonder if he went the right way. For just a few seconds, before he just shrugged, and begun running, his his upper body bending backwards, and arms waving around, much like an infattable tube-man toy being driven by the wind.

Meanwhile, inside the ship, there are some custom-made cells. And in one of them...
"Hm? ... Awake, is anyone?"
No one replied, at least for a while, and then, the same voice replied to himself.
"Awake, only myself is!"

Running around for a while now, Johnny-san has stopped, and he is looking for something in a small backpack he carries with, one that he wasn't seen with when the guys were formulating their plan. Taking off a bottle, he looks around, before he pours in the liquid to a large wine glass, and takes a sip.
"Ah ... Mango juice, perfect. Anyway, this island's desert .. I can still see the ship clearly. Tho, nothing else." He comments, while taking sips, and just standing there, apparently taking a break.

[From now on and for a while, the story will center around Johnny]

As Johnny stands there on the beach, drinking his mango juice, something unexpected takes place! The sand of the beach starts sinking and it slowly swallows Johnny. At first, it would be very easy for Johnny to get out from it. However, he did not realize what was going on, as he was drinking his juice. And in the end, the inevitable happened: Johnny had been swallowed by the sand and he disappeared from the island's surface.

However, unlike what somebody would expect, he did not die from sinking. Instead, he was falling through a tunnel for some time and in the end he ended up in front of the door. The door was slightly open and by opening it completely, the view would be something really unexpected! Behind the door there was a large city, probably in the core of the island. Although light was not coming out from any place, there were many fireplaces set, giving a bright light to the place. An undeground city existed on the island. What was going on there?!

After all this, getting caught "off guard due to drinking such good juice" by a random quicksand, to coming in front of a door, to entering a city underground, Johnny couldn't help but look at the dusty bottle in his hand, and wonder if maybe, just maybe, it was some sort of powerful alchohol-drink that gave him dellusions. But no, it was a real thing, as crazy as it was, he ended up falling across quite the discovery.
Staying calm, like always, Johnny first finished drinking the bottle (!), before he actually went pass the door and into that new enviroment.

In front of Johnny, there was a big road that was ending towards the city. If Johnny followed the road, he would definitely reach the place and see where he actually was. However, before the man could start following the road, something else was about to happen... While the man was in the new environment, a strange creature jumped in front of him and it attempted to slash him with its big claws, which were much like daggers. The creature was twice the size of Johnny, it was looking like a mole. Well, it was not just looking. In fact, it WAS a giant mole. What was going on there?!

Jumping backwards, Johnny slowly moves his hands off his pockets, and looks at his shirt. While he did dodged without getting injured at all, those blasted dagger-like claws did shredded part of his shirt.
"That's my favorite shirt!" Johnny says, his voice showing that he really is frustrated by this event, but aside that, no traces of the, what would be logical in such a situation, surprise or even fear at the sight of this formidable creature. Seeing that the animal is quickly attempting to assault him again, the shades-wearing man moves forward rapidly.
"You bastard!" He says, simultaneously firing off a powerful and extremely fast right straight punch, smashing onto the massive mole's snout, making it crash onto the road, then bounce back into the air and fall down, knocked down by the man's powerful, bullet-fast, knuckle & steel-reinforced strike.
Having taken care of this, Johnny shakes his hand around a bit. "Whoah, that mole's face is hard, it actually gave me a cramp now." He comments, before he comes closer to the beast, not afraid at all if it wakes up and tries to maul him. He investigates it for a moment, before he actually sits down on it's belly, and thinks. Where was he? What was that creature? This was all so weird, but hey, there was a road here. Following it, he'd surely find out. "Better hurry, the more we are away at the ship, the friskier our captives may get." And saying that, to himself that is, Johnny gets up and resumes his fast walking.

"Oi! Moley!!!" a voice was heard from afar and a man appeared. The man was an old man, dressed with a long green robe. There were red dots on the robe and he also wore sandals. He had a long red beard and red spiky hair. His eyes were orange and he had an extremely small nose.

"Moley! Why did you attack that man?!" he yelled at the animal, which had just gotten up as soon as it listened to the old man's voice. Then, he approached Johnny and he said "Excuse me, young man. My pet is a bit timid and she attacks people she doesn't know in order to protect herself.". Who was that man, other than the owner of the animal? Only one thing was for certain; he definitely knew things about the place and that could be proven to be useful.

"Hm?" Johnny turns and looks at the old man. Well, he was a human being, so Douche would probably relax and not start yelling about conspirasies about "mole people". Assuming that he had the same fate as himself that is. Stopping himself from moving, Johnny turns completely and bows down at the man. "Hello there. Worry not, I merely hope I didn't damaged her too the point of needing to put her to sleep. Tho, I should ask for a refund, because that was my prized shirt. Juice?" He casually begins talking with the old man, even changing subjects, and even asking for a refund, in a way as if it's more like they just have a normal everyday talk.
Having given the man, as well as the mole(!) a glass of juice, the shaded man looks around, before he turns to the old man again, and extends his hand. "Johnny Cool, at your services. And you are? As well as .. this place is?" He asks, surely the old man knows.

"Cool, huh? Cool!" the old man made a pun over the name of the man and he started laughing. "It looks like Mirage Island has a visitor... There aren't any people over here who share that name, you know!" he said afterwards and then he grabbed the glass of juice that Johnny offered. He drank it and then he scratched his head. "As for myself, I am... Who am I?" he wondered for a second and then he said "Oh, yes I remember. I am Old Man and this is my pet mole, Moley! Nice to meet you and sorry for the shirt. We are going to pay you back!".

Old Man and Moley, huh? Those names were strange indeed... Not as strange as the underground city in the unknown invisible island called Mirage Island, but still strange.

"Mirage Island?..." Johnny speaks to himself, and then scratches the back of his head. Taking his shades off, he actually pulls another pair from a pocket on his shirt, and swaps shades, however placing the new pair on his forehead. "Nice to meet you, Old man-san." He adds.
