Crew Name: The Slapstick Pirates
Captain: "Stomping" Johnny Bataccio (NPC)
Flag: The flag is a grinning white skull with a cracked right eye-socket on a black field. Crossed beneath the skull is the outline of a paddle and a bottle of liquor, both in white.
Ship: the Killer's Joke (a dual-masted sloop with two rows of barely functioning cannons)
Side: Pirates
Current Members: "Stomping" Johnny Bataccio (NPC), Chavo Maskim "Cooley" (Space Cadet, not yet made)
Crew Goals: To conquer the east blue's rum trade, disappear off the radar of bounty hunters (even those rookies) and fix the ship's cannons.
Crew History: Once there was an age when Johnny Bataccio was a naive boy who wanted only to be a legendary pirate. His dream was inspired by hearing the exploits of the great "Captain Corkscrew", a legendary rascal famous for drinking, swashbuckling, beating, and performing improbable feats of luck and skill. After years of amateur maritime banditry, Johnny encountered a man claiming to be the mythic Captain. They brawled and brawled until Bataccio's skull fractured from a plank striking him in the face. With the realization that his hero was a violent drunkard, Johnny turned to alcoholism. Being a pirate was no longer as wild and exciting for Johnny, so he tried to retire from his crew. His own captain refused such a retirement, so he beat the man to death (earning his moniker for curb-stomping his former boss). Johnny seized control of the crew and used it as fuel for his alcoholism; the Slapstick Pirates became known throughout the East Blue as a scourge to the shipping market.
Time has not softened Captain Bataccio's violent and ill-tempered personality at all (though his liver wish he had softened up on the drinking). Nowadays, his crew is rather lacking in number because of a failed rebellion; he was able to kill most of the dissidents personally, but the event did make him reconsider his leading policy. He no longer has direct rule of the crew, instead "relinquishing" the power to his first mate (and flunky) Chavo Maskim. Though the captain's will is still imposed, the remaining crewmates are more happy with Chavo ruling as he lacks the stone heart required to beat people without reason (he rarely even beats people who deserves it). Aboard the nigh abandoned Killer's Joke, rumors abound at the true reason Captain Bataccio is no longer the acting captain.
