Appearance: Maes is around 2 meters tall. He has brown-golden hair and green eyes that resemble the color of forest leaves in the middle of the summer. He has normal sized, fleshy lips and what ones would call a "perfect" nose, something present in the Cloud family. Unlike other members from his family, he doesnt have a cleft chin, something he might have inherited from his mother. He has thick eyebrows that are the same color of his hair and a goatie of the same color. The giant blood that runs through his veins make his stronger than humans.

His Adam's Apple is not that easy to recognize and he has a normal lenght neck. He has broad shoulders and has a tough build. His skin is of a tanned tone and his hands are pretty big (under the normal for proportions, tho). He always wears dark blue pants that are loose and very good for doing sports. He uses black shoes with them and dark green t-shirt that matches his eyes and highligths them. Over his t-shirt he wears a black leather jacket.

History: Maes was born in the West Blue, in Raymond Island. His father was Sergio Cloud, a half-giant and his mother was a woman called Hellen Greenrade, which later changed her last name to Cloud when she got married with the half-giant. After some years of being married, Maes' parents had a very big fight in which the woman started to beat Sergio and he being very kindhearted didn't want to hurt her, but after all the screaming and insults he got mad as well and the fight got harsh, both of them hurling rocks and other stuff at each other.

After that fight Hellen asked for divorce, and left with her things, not even wanting to know about her son. So Maes grew up without having a mother to look up to, and his father had to do the paper of mother and father at the same time. Luckily, Sergio lived near to his brother's house, they actually lived in the same neighborhood. His older brother, a half-giant as well had a small kid that was just two younger than Maes, it was Roko Cloud. Roko's father helped Maes' father take care of little Maes together with Roko's mother. And they lived like a family.

Sergio started a navigator academy in the island that was a big business together with his brother's Shipyard. And while this happened, Maes enjoyed his childhood together with his cousin Roko. They played a lot when they were young and went to the forest nearby frequently. Roko liked to wield wooden swords a lot, and his father trained him to wield heavier and wider swords, while Maes preffered not to fight with swords but to fight with his body, punching and kicking. But his favourite was to use headbutts.

His father trained him all his childhood to be a great navigator and he even learnt some skills about repairing ships from Roko's father. He trained with his father's ship and a small vessel that was used for trading merchandise. He liked to do this a lot. In the navigation school he learnt about the stars and how you could use them to guide the ship at night, he had a great interest in them.

One day playing in the forest with Roko, he started to run very fast to get before Roko to the center of the forest, where they liked to play. And when he got there he found a strange fruit, he didn't know it was a devil fruit, so knowing that Roko was going to get there soon, he ate it. And he started to be able to turn into a Hydra, but Roko had no idea.

Sometimes he went to the forest alone and practiced alone, turning into his hydra form. He headbutted trees and bit them off, learnt how to use his poisonous breath. But he was just training, he wasn't prepared to fight. When pirates raided Raymond Island and they kidnapped Roko, and they let him go, no one noticed that a group of slavers tried to kidnap Maes, (since they had nothing to do with the pirate crew) he turned into his Hydra form and tried to fight them, but he was still too weak and they took him, knowing that devil fruit users were worth much more.

Sergio looked all around the island for his son, but he couldnt find him and burst into tears. Roko and his father tried to console him and as Roko decided he would be a pirate, he promised his uncle that he would look for his cousin and find him for him. At the same time, the ship of kidnappers that had taken Maes was attacked by a pirate crew and all of them were killed, except for Maes.

In that time, Maes was fourteen years old. The pirate crew adopted him as a crewmember and trained him. They were called the Spear Pirates. Maes got the nickname of "The Hydra" from his fellow crewmembers. He developed a fighting style that he could use either in his human or hydra form. It involved concentrating power in his head and headbutting. For example in hydra form he could turn his head as hard as steel for attacks, and he was able to send headbutt shockwaves. He called the style Shinwa Buyou za Hebihitsu (meaning something like Myth Dance of the Serpent Head).

The crew went into the grandline and they raided multiple towns. Maes fought diverse marine officers and got big bounty increases as time passed. They fought other pirate crews and other slavers. He alone in his Hydra form raided a townand destroyed it whole in a matter of hours, no one was able to stop him. Then a while after that two marines, a rear admiral and a commodore appeared, and he fought them, posioning them and won. They died for lack of medical equipment to attend them.

In this time Maes spent a lot of time training with his martial art in human form as well and perfectioning the hydra form. In all the time he spent in the grandline he learnt as much as he could about stars, planets and faraway galaxies. At last, the crew went into the new world when Maes was twenty-seven years old. But they got defeated by a marine division there and all the members were sent to different prisons. Maes got trapped as well.

Personality: Maes is a very good thinker and had the ability to analyze situations to get the answer to problems that are taking place or weird plans to get out as quickly as posible from a conflict that he doesn't want to have. Normally he will enjoy having a challenge to him, trying his strenght.

What he wants the most in the world is to destroy slaver crews like the one that kidnapped him when he was a kid. He thinks that this destroys family and doesn't let kids have their infancy. If he sees a slaver crew he won't directly attack it and go berserk but will make a plan to destroy it.

He will follow good leaders and people that seem to be worth his time. Since he has giant strenght he can tend to be aggresive sometimes, but that's only when he is out of control. He will try to defend his friends and doesn't like if they're harmed. He has a great interest for the stars and planets since he has studied through his life by bits... one day he would like to visit space.

Effect: The fruit allows the user to turn into a hydra that can regenerate his heads when they are cut off and breath out poisonous gas, as well as having poisonous saliva.

Special Abilities:

Shinwa Buyou za Hebihitsu: A martial art based on the Hydra fruit, it has five main aspects:

Hanmakashira (meaning: Hammer Head): The user of this technique in the Hydra Form, using one or more head, attempts to headbutt or smash an opponent with his head. When he/she is going to smash, his head turns as hard as steel (a form of tekkai that only works when attacking, can't be used to defend) In a human form, this can be used with the hands (punches, chops) or the head.

Jitenkarada (meaning Body Spin): This technique needs a lot of training and speed to use. The user jumps and spins at the same time. In the human form air is caught and cut with the arms and the user is launched forward at soru speeds. In the hydra form, the user jumps and spins his body while moving his heads in a circular motion (looks like a fan) and catching wind. This allows the user to be launched at semi-soru speeds forward.

Dagekichikara (meaning Blow Force): The user of this technique headbutts in his hydra form and never hits the foe directly, but the concentrated energy allows the user to shoot powerful shockwaves with his headbutts. In the human form this can be used with headbutts as well as with punches.

Mashin-Gan (meaning: machinegun)
Normal user - The user punches, either melee-range or close range, repeatedly and fast, hitting the opponent multiple times, with enough force to generate a small shockwave along the way.
Hydra - The user combines the hardness of the other forms to fire off repeated headbutts that can hit from a larger distance than in normal form. User can also spit poison saliva in the process to maximize the damage (and radius of it) inflicted.

Kakuhan (meaning: whip)
Normal user - The user swings his leg/arm at an extremely fast speed, and hits the opponent's feet, damaging him plus causing him to lose his balance and begin to fall, letting him open for a more powerful attack.
Hydra - User rapidly hits the foe's leg(s) with one of the heads, causing him to lose his balance, the move is then followed by the other heads hitting the enemy similarly, but each one in succession, and coming from the opposite direction, thus ending up with a lot of damage inflicted plus certain disorientation on the enemy.

• Orion's Belt Sweep. Maes breaths out poison gas in his hydra form all around him and using the Kakuhan with all his heads a time he sweeps all enemies around himselve.
  
• Andromeda Crunch. Maes uses two hydra heads to endure his jaws, concentrating energy in them and then making both try to bite the same enemy from the sides.
  
• Alpha Centauri Raid. Maes uses a combination of the Jitenkarada and the Hanmakashira to perform a headbutt in human form that occasionates a great impact in a foe.
  
• Cancer Submission. In the hydra form, Maes uses all his heads to impulse himselve from the ground in a big jump and then stomps back down to smash anything below.
