| Name: Anthony Boateng Age: 19 Bounty: 20,000 B Species: Human Occupation: Swordsman Allegiance: Pirate Home Village/Ocean: Janomant Island, North Blue Appearance: Anthony is 2 meters tall and weight about 90 kilograms, which makes him quite a large individual. He is well built, a fact that turns him into a scary thing to face while combined with his large size. He has a tanned skin and brown hair, that is cut short on the sides and is designed in a small spike formation in the middle, forming a strange mohawk. Anthony has a defected gene that colors each of his eyes differently: While his left eye is brown, his right eye is pale blue. His eyebrows are always pointing inward in a small angle, making him seem like he has a malicious plan at all times. His face is normally decorated with short bristles since he's too lazy to shave regularly. Since he isn't the richest guy around, Anthony usually sticks to cheap clothing. he wears a white T-shirt that has a few rips along it's sleeves and bottom, along with a pair of loose black pants, also with rips in the edges. His pants are tied to his waists with a simple rope, and he wears a pair of wooden sandals on his feet. Anthony also has a gray open robe-like fabric that he wears over his shirt that reaches down to his knees. That robe allows Anthony to make it through hard climates without any fancy clothing, as it can act like a coat or a cover from the rain easily. Janomant island is a large island in the North Blue, which is ruled by the tyrant Formatina family. The Formatina family has close relations with a few of the highest marine authorities of the North blue, and manage to keep the marines off the island and allow them to keep ruling over it with an iron fist. 60 years ago, a new member of the Formatina family was given the throne, Nigel Formatina, who was greedier and more devious than any of the former rulers. He multiplied the taxes several times fold, making a lot of people who could barely manage the old taxes turn homeless. One of these unfortunate people was Sam Boateng.
50 years ago, Oxford Formatina, the son of the rich ruler of Janomant island, decided on purchasing himself a brand new katana, crafted by one of the most famous blacksmiths from overseas. He approached his trophy room to find a place for the sword on his wall, his swords were never used for fighting, only for decorating. As he watched his wall, he noticed he had no room for a new sword. angry, he took the oldest and cheapest sword that was hung on the wall and ordered one of the butlers to toss it in the nearest dumpster.
In that particular day, destiny had brought Sam Boateng, to rest next to that particular nearest dumpster. Up until that day, Sam used to terrorize the streets and steal from whoever crossed his path in order to survive in the new condition he found himself in. He was a large man with enough force in his punch to get a small gang of homeless people gather around him. But after discovering the sword, Sam believed that he received a warning. The heavens must have handed him a chance to protect himself from the punishment he was about to receive, a last chance to redeem his life. He changed his ways, and became a generous and a man of honor, never to return to his old days. He broke out of the gang, and continued his life as a Robin Hood figure. He kept stealing, but handed almost all of his loot to people in need, living by a new set of morals.
Years have passed, and Sam had a son, Jerome Boateng, to which he passed the sword along with his code of life. Jerome stayed in Janomant island. He spent his life living by his father's code, and fought against those who tried to rob him for food with the sword that his father received from the heavens. He was a modern samurai, always treated his opponents with respect and never stole form anyone. He managed to survive thanks to the rare generosity of a few stable by passers and the occasional swordplay performances he did. He met his love when he was 28, she was a lovely lady who's family just lost it's house. He saved her from a few muggers and they fell for each other from that moment. When Jerome was 32, he had his first and only son: Anthony. Jerome's unofficial wife was picked up by a few relatives from a different island, who neglected Jerome and Anthony, leaving them in the streets.
Even though destiny backfired on him, Jerome never abandoned his father's codes, and passed them on to Anthony. He showed the boy how real honorable men should act, and taught him that there was more honor in the street life than in the entire Formatina palace. Anthony quickly learned and became his father's assistant, participating in his street acts and helping him protect their belongings. The father-son duo survived, even better than Jerome managed on his own. But that parade couldn't last forever. A cold winter rained on the island when Anthony was 13, and his father got a bad case of the cold. They had no medicine nor money for health care, and Jerome died in that winter. Before he died, Jerome passed his most precious belonging, the sword, to his son, along with the code of the Boateng family.
Anthony was devastated. He had nothing to do and nowhere to go, he was alone and helpless. He spent his time in a single street corner, asking for donations and spare change so he could survive. He refused to steal, for his family's code forbid it. As a kid, Anthony managed to collect more donations than his father did, but times were rough and no one would even dare to accept another child to his home, leaving Anthony in the streets. Then, one day, while Anthony was busy collecting his donations, a member of the Formatina family arrived at the street corner. He glanced upon Anthony and noticed the sword. That family member had no way of knowing that his father disposed of that sword 50 years ago, but he did see that sword in an old picture while it was steal hung on the wall, and he was certain that Anthony stole it somehow.
"YOU! STREET SCUM! HOW DARE YOU STEAL FROM THE FORMATINA?!" The member asked, pointing towards the sword. Anthony couldn't react to these accusations. he never stole anything in his life, his code forbid it, he was an honorable samurai! And that sword was the most precious belonging of the Boateng family! "I didn't steal" Anthony said, he was 14 that time, and was one of the strongest 14 yearolds in the world. "Yea, a homeless freak would never steal right?! Get him!" The member ordered to his bodyguards, who rushed at Anthony. The boy knew the streets better than the guards, and was quicker than them, which allowed him to lose them after a long chase. He ended up in a deserted alley, where he spent the night. When morning came, Anthony sneaked back to his corner to get his stuff, but found that his stuff where stolen, and wanted posters of him were hung on the walls, his life were ruined.
He retreated back to the alley, frustrated and lost. He sat down to try and get his head straight, but then a cat came rushing into the alley, chasing a rat. The rat found himself cornered in the ally, but instead of closing it's eyes and waiting for the cat to eat him, the rat turned around and jumped on the cat's face, startling it as he bit the cat's nose and made him cry in pain. The rat then escaped, leaving the cat shocked and hungry. This event made it all clear for Anthony: He was a cornered rat, chased by the tyrant Formatina family for no reason. He had nothing to lose and everything to gain. A that moment, Anthony realized what he had to do. He closed his eyes, and erased every bit of the life code that his father and grandfather passed on to him. He would escape his poor state, and become rich enough to start chasing others instead of being chased.
In the following day, Anthony managed to steal some food and a boat from the Formatina family's dock, and sailed off of the island. The guard who guarded the docks were too drunk and slow to chase him, but they did recognize him. The boat theft added insult to injury, which made that Formatina member ask for a bounty on Anthony's head. He took advantage of the close relations the family and the marines had and managed to place a 20,000 B on Anthony's head, for stealing the boat and the sword.
Ever since that day Anthony sailed the seas. He soon found a spot on the deck of a pirate ship that welcomed him as long as he served as their chore boy. He sailed with these pirates, and a few other crews as the years passed. He practiced his sword skills, that differ from his father and grandfather's style of honor and respect, with his malicious goal in mind: Becoming rich enough to never be chased again.
Personality: Anthony can't be considered a nice guy by any standards, welcoming people with fists more than with greetings. He is greedy and malicious, two qualities and make him take almost everything he wants with his fists and sword. He is also quite a lustful womanizer, a quality he developed form the lack of any female influence on his life and childhood. Other than those horrible aspects of his personality, Anthony is also hot headed, usually jumping into fights just because someone said a misplaced word or an annoying look. But Anthony isn't all bad. He isn't that cruel, and would prefer to leave his opponents bleeding than dead, so they could pass the lesson on. But perhaps the most bold quality of Anthony's mind is his weakness for economical prejudice, which also happens to be his berserk trigger. Anthony would leap onto anyone who'd make fun or take advantage of a poor man's state without hesitation, and will always side the poorer side of a conflict. Since he abandoned his family code, the only link he has to his heritage and his cause is his sword, which he is very proud and protective of. Ship: name of ship Ship Flag: describe Devil Fruit: None Type: Effect: Special Abilities: Desperate Kendo: Anthony uses a highly unorthodox, violent and explosive sword style, different from the artistic styles his father and grandfather used. His style takes it's roots form the way a cornered rat deals with it's enemy. When cornered, the rat has nothing to lose and everything to gain, and so it will use all of his strength and every trick in the book to get himself out of danger. Anthony uses different evasive maneuvers and tactical retreats to avoid being damaged, and when an opening forms, he will put all of his strength and skill into offense, and will attempt to take his enemy down with a surprise burst of strength, speed and willpower. His style mostly focuses on brute force and explosive movements that are meant to quickly dismantle and overcome his enemies. Abnormal Strength: Fending for one's self in the streets with nothing but a cheap sword and one's own body can be difficult. After fighting in the streets for most of his life Anthony developed a considerable amount of strength. He can split wood with his most powerful fists and kicks, and breaking bones isn't a difficult task for him. Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25):Crimson Reversal: After retreating a few steps back and blocking a few attacks from his enemy and making him believe that he has the upper hand, Anthony will use all of his muscular strength to quickly rotate his body. By doing so, Anthony can easily avoid an enemy's attack and get himself into striking distance. This move is the key to Anthony's fighting style, as it allows him to switch out of a careful defense into an explosive offense. All-Out Slash: Anthony will grasp his sword with both hands and assume a high position. Then, he will perform a downward slash with all of his might, targeting whatever is protecting his opponent. This technique is meant to destroy an enemy's defenses and get Anthony into close range. The slash is powerful enough to split normal swords. Usually followed by Tail Whip, to finish the unarmed opponent off. Tail Whip: Anthony will grab the handle of his sword with his right hand up and his left hand down. Then, by flicking his left hand and using his sword like a whip, Anthony can move the sword faster than he would normally be able to, allowing him to catch his opponent off-guard. Then, by applying pressure with his strong right hand, he can make the slash more powerful and hopefully finish his opponent off. Unusual Slash: A normal human has more power in his legs than his arms. After rushing an opponent, Anthony will toss his sword into the air and will quickly place his hands on the ground. Then, he will perform a forward flip, and catch his sword's handle between his feet, only to rain a powerful and unexpected slash from above. The slash is powered both by Anthony's leg and ab strength and by the momentum that Anthony collects form the initial flip. Forbidden Strike: An unarmed attack. This attack takes the form of either a bone splitting hook to an enemy's nose or a powerful kick to the groin, both of which planted unexpectedly. These strikes are meant to cause great pain to the enemy with minimal effort, and let Anthony lend the more powerful attacks with less resistance. Weapons/Items: The Lonely LotusCharacter Flaws: Anthony never received any kind of conventional education, and as a result, possesses almost no academical knowledge, and is quite idiotic all around.
