| This is a compendium of islands created by you, the user base! All islands are open to be used by anyone who wants to use them: however, if you plan to do something like destroy a city, take control of the island, or destroy it utterly, you must request permission from the island creator. The island creator will be listed in the 'title' of the post containing the island itself. Anyone may make an island: send it to me (Gael) or to Admin Rodoku via PM if you wish to have it placed in this thread. Use the sheet located in the 'code' box. Please do not post here, period. Simply click the spoilers of an island to view it. - Code:

| Subject: Mokupuni Island - GoreFish Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:33 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: Mokupuni island
Flag: A dark blue, square flag with a lime green square in the middle. In that light green square is a flying bird with very sharp talons stretched out as if just about to catch something. It's tail feathers are especially long. This bird is Kena Kiai, the beast that was said to have protected the island and it's people from all harm. Whether this myth is true or not, nobody can say, if it has ever existed, it's left or dead. The stylized version on the flag is dark, bloody red. The blue on the flag stands for the sea, another power the habitants used to worship, the green for the forest it is covered with, and the red bird is, aside from being the mythical protector of the island, also the sign of it's coast guard.
Location: The first half of the Grand Line, close to the middle. It is very far away from other islands, by ship it is almost a month to the next one, three weeks to the one behind it. Between them, there's only deep sea.
Ruler/Territory: No ruler (though it does have a council, see government), claimed independance thirty years ago, too unimportant to fight over.
(Four line minimum starts here) Geography: Mokupuni is one of the smallest islands in the grand line, being only 250 square kilometers in size. About half of the coastline, the southern most coast, is beach, at all other spots, the island is surrounded by high cliffs, and riffs at the eastern side. Most, if not all of it, is covered in thick rainforest, with trees of all varieties, some of high quality wood. Some smaller lakes are hidden in this forest (it would be wrong to speak of forests, since the trees form one inpenetrable mass), but most of them are so deeply inside that no one bothers to actually go there. Lastly, in the middle of the island, so high it towers even the highest trees by far, is the mountain Nuipuka, a former volcano that died out thousand of years ago. It's said to have been the nest of aforementioned legendary bird. Now, it's crater holds a wonderful and vivid wildlife. There are some caves in it's walls, none of which are particularily deep, but caves nonetheless.
Weather: Mokupuni has a day climate, meaning it doesn't have seasonal, but daily changes in weather, which are the same every day. In the morning, it is usually cooling off a bit, until the sun rises, at which point it becomes warm in teh course of one hour, then hot in the course of two more. Normally, it's around 35°C (203 Fahrenheit), at most 40°C (or 216 Fahrenheit) on midday, at which point it becomes almsot unbearably humid. That's about the point when most people try not to do too much and stay in the water or cool places. Just when the humidity becomes unbearable, which is at about three in the afternoon, heavy rainshowers start coming down. Depending on how humid it was the whole day, they might be slight rain, or biblical pourdowns. Finally, when the rain stops, in the evening, it becomes very nice, not too cold or warm, and most people enjoy this time of the day the most. The whole night stays warm, but can be a little breezy at times.
Population: Since Mokupuni is pretty seperated from the world, about 95% of the population is human, 90% of those are natives, easily recognisable by their darkly tanned skin, without exception black, straight hair, and mostly dark eyes. They're mostly small and stout in build, though there are great exceptions to this rule. If one completely defies one of those, they almost certainly had a foreigner in their bloodline at some point, something which is rare, but happens. Luckily, the people there are not very discriminative against other races, and always greet strangers with a smile, something they earned from relying on tourists a lot. The five remaining percent habiting the island are fishmen of various kinds, without exception the peaceful kind who wished for a place to stay in peace, without being reinded of their history every minute of the day. Aside from some of the tourists, no one minds them, and those who do protest, the coast guard takes care of. If one really wishes to become an inhabitant of the island, and is ready to accept and take on it's culture, then he's always welcome to stay, and is, after a certain time, granted full protection by the coast guard, unless the individual is wanted for murder, slavery, or similiar crimes against humanity.
Wildlife: The tropical island has a vast wildlife, fauna as well as flora, and is inhabited by some of the most poisonous and dangerous animals, which inhabitants used for natural protection in older times. Only more important and prominent species will be listed.
Insects: Without doubt the biggest group on the islands. An old saying has it that there are more insects than humans on the island. That's pretty much fact. Most of them are harmless, some even pretty. Then there's thsoe which are harmless unless eaten, which no one does anyway. Mosquitos and other bloodsuckers deserve and extra mention, since their population can be breathtaking at times. Since the one town on the island isn't close to any of the lakes, they mostly stay away from it, feeding on wildlife instead. Dragonflies of all kinds have experienced a sudden grow in population during those last few years, though no one is worried about them, they're harmless and pretty, and actually attract more tourists. The biggest bug in the forest is the giant centipede, something the inhabitants wisely stay away from: It is capable of paralyzing even humans, and is more feared than some of the snakes, most of which are harmless anyway. Another poisonous animal is the tarantula, which is awfully present on the island, and the species differ in size and danger, as the locals say, „Like the sky differs from the sea“. The most dangerous one can cause cramps, fever and chills, which can last a day, but none of them is lethal.
Reptiles: Another big group, though smaller than most would expect, and much less prominent than the insects. They stay in the forest, mostly, so tourists never get into contact with them unless one of them gets lost and ends up in the town. Most are not aggressive, and scared of humans, even though some are poisonous, and can even be dangerous. Aside from lizards, the largest group of reptiles are snakes. Heck, alost all reptiles on the island are snakes. Most of them are not poisonous, though, if you are unlucky, some of the bites can cause fever and cramps that lasts, in extreme cases, up to a few weeks, and can possibly end lethal, or even paralize you. Though the snakes capable of doing that are extremely rare, shy to humans, and live only in the crater of Nuiputa, a place people, even tourists, stay away from despite the wondrous wildlife. So far, there have only been three recorded bites. Though the most dangerous of the snakes, some say all the animals on the island, is the constrictor snake, namely Boa Constrictor, at the same time the largest of all snakes on the island. It lives in the forest and the crater, though it is rare, and prefers staying at lakesides, the main reasons why the natives preferred to stay away from the lakes and instead build wells and collect rainwater. So far, there have been about twenty recorded fatalities, fifteen of which were tourists or youngsters who didn't take the warnings seriously enough. In spite of popular belief, there are no crocodiles or alligators anywhere on the island, though there are sharks in the ocean (will be further explained in marine wildlife).
Birds: Birds have always been the most worshipped by the natives. From small hummingbirds to large predatory ones, almost everything is present, and almost everything is colourful. Since they have almost no natural enemies on the island, the natives saw them as a sign of invulnerability, the only beings rightfully allowed to sear through the sky, with cries ranging from beautiful songs to earthrobbing screams (the bats present on the island are seen as roguish creatures, not only do they drink blood, but, according to legend, stole their wings from the birds). There are far too many kinds to list, some of them incredibly rare, and so the island has always been a place loved by ornithologists. It is said that, inside the crate, there are even more birds, the likes of which has never been seen before, but since the crate has never been sufficiently explored, this can only be called a legend. The most popular of the birds on the island with the tourist is, of course, the parrot, it's feathers are a prized souvenir. To the natives, however, the Java Sparrow is the most treasured of them all, being seen as the last ancestor of the legendary bird, Kena Kiai. Tourists mostly raise their eyebrows at that, since it's a rather cute birdie for being an offspring of some moster bird. In response to that, the natives roll their eyes quietly. God, tourists can be so thick sometimes.
Others: Amphibians are not rare on the island, but get preyed on by birds and snakes a lot. They are, beside insects, the most commonly seen, as they're not shy or smart enough to stay away from civilization. Most are frogs, the harmless kind. The villagers are thankful for them just as they are for the spiders, since they keep the insect population in check. Mammals are the most underrepresented group. Aside from humans, most mammals on the island are small rodents, mice and the like. The only predatory mammals are the small Jaguarundi and his bigger relative, the jaguar, which is rare, seeing as it has little to prey on. Aside from those two, apes are common to spot, and hold a spot in the local mythology. None of them is bigger than a meter though, and none even remotely dangerous.
Marine wildlife: The marine wildlife of the island is rich, but diving is not recommended. It's not the sharks, which there are many of, but which don't prey on humans unless they're bleeding, or the, partly gigantic seaturtles, not even the stinging rays or morays or any of the other fishes that roam the area. It's the algae, the plants the villagers warn people about. Save to say, no one ever listens, and ever so often, a member of the coast guard has to take a quick dive to save a stunned, paralized or simply transfixed tourist. Now the pirates, the marines, they know to stay away from those nasty plants. But the landdwellers? No way. Everyone simply underestimates how dangerous those plants can be, and there has been more than one missing person who most likely ended up as wormfood. Aside from the algae, there's also a vast variety of sea shells, the most well known of which are the oysters. The stories of huge oysters with pearls the size of humans inside have drawn many an unknowing tourist to their wet grave. Again, the locals roll their eyes at that. Yeah, right. If there was any oyster that big, then it would likely be the most deadly thing around. Over a thousand eyes, and a jaw that can crush steel just don't sound particularily inviting. Besides, pearls aren't even that great. Tourists are such weirdos.
Economy and production: As mentioned before, Mokupuni has a rich, vast wildlife. It's also very dangerous. Some people would maybe try and sell the wood, but not the natives. They have effectively fought against that for centuries. And even if anyone ever got to the volcano, or trie to mine in the cliffs, there would be no gold or diamonds to be uncovered, even copper is rare. The island, beautiful as it is, is poor when it comes to natural resources. The only things they have enough of are sand, wood and water, and none of those (save for the wood, which will not be sold) are worth all that much. Luckily, the grounds are very fertile, due to the thick humus covering the ground, but instead of farming on it, which they know would be dumb, since that would ultimately destroy the forest, they pick the many exotic fruits that grow near their little town. Those sell quite well, but not enough to actually make a lot of money. Only the village located deeper in the forest farms a little, then send some of the fruit to their neighbours and used to be enemys so they can cook all those tourism foodstuffs they keep being asked for. So, what to do to make money? For Mokupuni, the answer is easy: tourism. The haven town Moanale is always filled to the brim with tourists, the island itself is a secret tip between mostly rich travellers, but also a safe haven for criminals, as long as they don't cause trouble. The secret behind it is that, no atter who you are or what you have done, Moanale will not judge, or care. Here, you can siply be someone, anyone, else, you can be anonymus.... and enjoy the wonderful wildlife (so long as the wonderful wildlife doesn't enjoy you for dinner). The climate is a little bit of a special case, and not everyone's thing, but the atmosphere is worth it. All in all, the island may not be rich, but it isn't doing that bad either. If anyone was to own it, which is a big if, they would get maybe about 30.000.000 per thread, which is really all the island has to offer, so maybe they should think twice about taking it all, or the villagers will start to get grumpy sooner than they think, and touris won't be going that well anymore either. It is well adviced to take only 10.000.000, 5.000.000 in times the island needs money for repairs, which is about once or twice a year, and send the rest back with kind regards and a lot of thanks for the most gracious offer.
Defense: The island is a natural fortress with high cliffs surrounding it, and only one landing spot for ships, which is in a bay, and also clsoe to the coast guards main quarters. Even the travel there is a hassel, dangerous and long. The deep waters may not hold seakings, at least not often, but the sheer lenght of the travel is enough to make ghost ships appear at the coastline frequently. If not prepared for it, the crews often run out of supplies on the way there. In addition to that, the sea of the grand line is even more moody than usual around it, the island being the one safe spot. As for manmade defenses, there is no need for any walls or fortresses, but the island does have two organisations to protect it. They are also, although only since very recently, allied with a certain crew of revolutionaries and, unofficially, two pirate crews. Though they would never call any of those for help if anything was to happen.
Military: One, the less important of those organisations, though it wasn't always this way, is called Pukaua, they are men and women sufficient in hunting, and the only ones who can find their way through the thick forest and return unharmed from it, often bringing new knowledge and curious things with them. Each of the two villages has their own hunting team, which sometimes compete (more on that later). They are used mostly to communicate between the two villages. In times of turmoil, if the worst case should come and the coast guard should be defeated, they are the last line of defense, and will mostly take the fight to the forests and lead the villagers to the village deep inside it, Nahekau, where they will be safe for a while. The hunters are incredibly wellversed fighters, and the forest will do away whoever they can't deal with, or at least they hope so. The second organisation is tha Kiai Kai, the coast guard. As the name says, they guard the coast. Out of the two organisations, they are one regarded with more respect, and being a coast guard is considered an honour. The coast guards used to be the ones on the lookout for ships that rarely ever came, and pretty unimportant, but now that there are more and more visitors coming by, they have become enormously important. Their duties now include deciding who is allowed to enter the island and who isn't, watching over every person who got to the island by ship (which is everyone), and keeping order. By definition, everyone who has peaceful intends may enter the island, and everyone who enters the island has a clean slate for the whole stay and will not be given to marines, the government or anyone else unless the crimes they are accounted for can be proven and are, in nature, crimes against humanity such as murder or slavery, in which case they are given a week to leave the island, or else they will be turned in. However, if a crime of any kind is commited on the island itself, then it is the responisbility of the coast guard to catch and punish the offender. And their punishments are feared enough that many people actually flee the island, leaving many of their belongings and sometimes part of their crew behind just to get away. Executions happen as well, if the crime is on the black list, which includes, for example, murder, kidnapping, torturing, rape or blasphemy, which includes again the theft of one of the holy artefacts. The natives take their religion seriously. The coast guard, aside from that, are said to be the strongest warriors the island has to offer, going through years and years of training before they are allowed to join. For the post of the leader, again, only the best of the coast guard may hold a trial once the former leader has become too weak, wants to resign or has died. In this competition, there are many smaller trials, such as fighting one of the Boa Constrictors barehanded, climb the cliffs around the island or dive the longest out of all contestors. In the end, the people who won most trials fight to the death or submission. The last one standing is the new commander. Help fro outside is not allowed. All the members have to be approved by the former leader and the council, or, if the leader is dead, the council and the leader of the hunters. The only one who gets a free shot at the competition is one, and only one of the direct offsprings of the former leader. Which one that will be must be decided by the new leader as the first thing, but can be changed at any given time.
Philosophy and beliefs: (the following passage is written in a different style on purpose)
Once, when the world was young, and there was no light and no darkness and no fire and no water and the land was only a barren wasteland, empty and dead, and the first life had yet to be invented, there was only one story, and the story was cold and cruel and without joy and love. The story went on for centuries and centuries, until, one day, the spark, Ahima, he heard the story, and he thought it sad and felt the young planet's emptiness and loneliness. And he asked the planet, why wasn't he crying? And the planet said that all tears had been shed thousands of years ago, and that they had dried out, for even though he was young, he had already lived longer than any of us could imagine. And Ahima, he felt sorry for the young planet, for he had seen many a sad fate, but none was sadder than the one of being alone. And he said he will give a gift to the planet. And then he turned into the first rain, and the rain, it filled the earth, and it created the oceans and the seas, and the mountains were now the islands. And then, Ahima, he flew to the end of the world, and he brought a seed, and he gave it to the planet. And the seed grew into a tree, and the tree made more trees, and soon the planet was green with plants, and blue with water. And the planet thanked Ahima, for now he had the plants to whisper to him, and the water to play with. And Ahima, he was happy for he had helped, and he told his sister, Aonui, the great light, and his brother, Ikinui, the small light, to watch over the young planet from afar, and to tell him if ever he would become lonely again, Aonui during the day, Ikinui during the night.
Centuries passed by, and still the oceans were empty, and the trees were ever the same, and whispered ever the same story. And again, the planet got lonely, and Aonui and Ikinui called for their brother, for nothing they said could lighten the planet up. Ahima returned, for he wanted to see how the young planet he had helped was feeling. And he saw that the planet, it was still lonely, and he asked why it was. And the planet sighed and said the trees whisper only one story, and it is filled with life and promise, but it ends before they ever reach the end, and the sea is so empty and dark and dead. And Ahima saw that what he had created was not enough. And so, since the happiness of the planet meant much to him, he transformed into a bird, the first living thing on earth, and as he stretched his wings and flew over the surface, new life was born, and there were snakes and hares and dogs and whales and seakings. And the planet saw them and saw that they had stories to tell and songs to sing and he saw that the oceans were not empty anymore, and that the forests had movement in them. And Makani, Aonui's husband, came and played with the water, and made the trees sing too.
Years passed, and the birds sang songs of love and of joy, and the whales sang of creation and of birth, and the trees whispered stories of goodness and friendship. And the planet liked the stories, and they were always different somehow, but somehow, they were always the same as well. And one day, Ahima came to him and he asked him what was wrong. And the planet sighed and said that no matter what story he listened to, he knew it already, even though it was different, there was no mystery to it. And Ahima, he didn't understand, for he was filled with goodness and mercy, and he didn't knew nothing of what the planet wanted. But he promised to think about it, for he really did want to make the planet happy, and he flew off. And Makani, the wind, he heard what they talked about, and he asked his brother Akamai, who was smart, for help. And his brother, he said, that the problem was easy to solve, but that Makani needed to promise him not to tell anyone about his involvement, ever. And Makani promised, and so Akamai told him that all he needed was a rock, a bit of wood, mud, and a feather from Ahima's tail. And Makani, he got all those things, and he asked his brother what to do with them, and his brother said that he should get Makehala, and so Makami, who did not know that Makehala was not allowed to step on the planet, for she was sin and death and pain. And Makehama, she called upon her brother, Kauamake, who was war and destruction, and they formed the mud into a man, and they gave him the rock for a heart and they used the wood for his brain. And they gave him Ahimas feather, and he came to life. And the man, he was destructive, and he was bad. And he burned down the trees and slaughtered the animal, and his song was made of fire and of hate, for that was all he could feel. And whatever he touched turned into a being like him, angry and lead by sin.
Ahima, he saw the man, and saw what he did, and he was shocked for he didn't know the being. And he wanted to erase him from the earth, but the planet stopped him, for he was intrigued by the song of the man, and he did not want to lose him. And so, Ahima and Makani and Aonui and Ikinui, they watched helplessly on, and Ahima could not bare it, for he had thought the planet could be happy without Makehala. And he wanted to leave the planet, for it broke his heart that his creations were destroyed by hers. But Aonui and Ikinui, they called onto Akamai, who was the brother of Makami, and they told him to fix his little brother's mistake. And Akamai, he said what his brother did was none of his business, and that he didn't have to do anything unless he wanted to, for no one was as smart and as goor at making deals as Akamai, and he knew that he wanted a payment, and he knew that he would get it. And Aonui and Ikinui, they begged him to help, and they offered him a place among the stars, and a beautiful wife, a godess like them, and they offered him riches beyond his greatest imagination. But Akamai, he declined, as he didn't want riches or the stars and he could very well get a wife himself, should he want one. Instead, he said, he wanted the creature, the man and all of his kind. And Aonui and Ikinui, they couldn't promise him that, for the man wasn't theirs, he was Makehala's. And they told Akamai that, and he said that he knew, and all he was asking them for was that they would leave the man be, no matter what Akamai did with him. And they agreed.
Next, Akamai went to Makehala, and he offered her a deal, he offered her Ahima's hand in marriage, for he knew that that was what she wanted, and that that had to be the natural order, and he said he wanted the man in exchange. Now Makehala, she wasn't stupid, and she knew Akamai couldn't have Ahima's consent, for Ahima would not agree to marry her. And Akamai asked her if she didn't trust him, the smartest being in the universe, to be able to outsmart Ahima and trick him into marrying her. And Makehala, she thought about it, and she sealed the deal with him.
So Akamai went to Ahima, and he told him that he could change the state his creations were suffering from, and that he could make the man stop his rampage. And Ahima, who wasn't stupid, and who knew Akamai, asked him what he wanted for it. And Akamai, he said that he just needed Ahima to promise that he would establish the natural order, the balance of things, no matter the cost, and that he would need one of Ahima's feathers. And Ahima asked how he could establish a balance, for he didn't know what was wrong with the natural order the way it was. But Akamai, he told him that once the time came, he would tell him. And Ahima knew not to trust him, but he saw his creation suffering, and he couldn't bare it, and so he sealed the deal with him, and he gave him the feather.
Akamai went down to earth, and he saw the destruction, and the creations turning against each other, and he saw the cause. And he knew that he had no time to lose, so he went to the water, and he took some of it, and he took some of the lightrays, and he took some of the old song that had remained, the one telling of love and joy and live and birth, and he took all this and he made a human. And he shaped the light into a heart, and the song into a brain, but he did not give it the feather yet, for he knew it would be too early.
Akamai walked the earth, and wherever he found a creation affected by the man's anger, he took the intelligence away from it, and so it couldn't sin anymore, and it returned to being a creation, but it did not sing or tell stories any longer, for Akamai wanted to own all the songs. And he did that with all the creations, except the man, for he had other plans for him. And then, he split the intelligence into two, and he gave one half to the woman he had shaped from the water, and one half to the man of mud. And then, he took half of the light that was the woman's heart and half of the sin that was the man's heart, for he knew that both had to be there, and he gave the woman sin, and the man light, and he gave the woman the feather, and she came to live. And she was intelligent, and the man was intelligent, and Akamai, he told them to build a house and to use what nature gave them, but not to be greedy, and he called the an Makua, father, and the woman Makuahine, mother. And since then, all humans have belonged to Akamai, the giver of intelligence, of fire and culture, sin and light, the one who established the balance between life and death, for when one thing dies, another thing is born.
Basically, that's the creation myth. Akamai is the god of humanity, and the people pray to him for help. But the highest god is still Ahima, the bird of life and everything good, and his wife Makehala, the godess of sin and death. There are a lot smaller gods, but those are the three big ones. There are many stories around all of the gods, as is usual for pagans, most of them about Akamai being a smug snake and a trickster, and the natives love those most, of course.
As for local myths, there is Kena Kiai, the giant bird who is something of a local god. He and Ahima are the reasons people on the island do not, under any circumstances, eat birds, it's blasphemy (so you can get executed for eating birds). Additionally to the three big gods, since it's an island with a lot of rain, there's also Moana, the goddess of the ocean and water in general. Normally, she isn't as important, and wasn't even mentioned until centuries after the creation myth, but for the island, she's almost more important than Nahele, goddess of forests and land.
In terms of philosophy, the natives are not as well versed. Mostly, they do believe in survival of the fittest, in elitism and in independance. Also, according to their mythology, women take a great role as the pure gender that has the power to create new life. Thus, the woman choses the man she wishes to marry. In marriage, absolute loyalty is required (the reason why Akamai, in legend, never married), and cheating on your partner would always be seen as a crime and, unless the partner forgave it, or, in case of a woman, if she was pregnant (from who doesn't matter here, unborn life must never be destroyed), would be punished with death. By now, of course, those rules have changed, even divorces are allowed, though frowned upon to an extent.
By Creature, many believe the creation myth only means animals, which means that trees did not get affected by Akamai or the man. And since it is comonly accepted that intelligence is basically the sould of a being, that means that while animals have no soul, trees do. Beings with a soul must not be destroyed, and if they are, then one will have to pay for it to Ahima, one soul gets taken, a new one is given. Take a life, save a life. So for every tree that falls, a new one has to be planted. Alternatively, the one who sawed it off might also just have a child real quick, that would work as well. Still, the natives would much rather leave the trees the way they are.
Government: Though it does not have a ruler, this island has a rather peculiar form of democracy. Due to being cut off from the rest of the world for so long, it has, for the longest time, been ruled by it's strongest warriors, who later founded the coast guard, and the village's oldest. This way, the people hoped to combine wisedom with power and make the best possible decisions. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Nowadays, there are also certain people elected to speak before this council. Those elected few, five in number, at least eightteen years old, have the right to vote against the decisions the council makes and bring forth their own propositions, which the council then has to take into consideration, and can only deny if they hurt the law or if there's at least two thirds of them who vote agaisnt it.
(two paragrpah minimum starts here) History:
For a long time, Mokupuni was well hidden from the rest of the world. The magnetic field around it is rather weak, and so, for the longest time, the island was thought to not exist at all. Well, to be fair, the inhabitants of the islands though the rest of the world didn't exist at all. How they got there, no one remembers. Legend has it that the first man and the first woman were exiled here by Ahima, who was angry (in this version of the myth, appearantly he is able to get angry) at being tricked by Akamai, but still remained under the gods protection. Truth is, they got there on small boats, out to explore. The crew was starving, not ready for such a long journey, but the way back was too long to survive, and so they hoped for a miracle, and the prayed to Akamai and to Ahima and sacrificied one of them to Makehala. And a miracle happened when they found Mokupani. That's about all there is to say on the matter.
So, as mentioned before, it stayed hidden from the rest of the world for the longest time, and what happened during that time, though it doesn't particularily interest the government, is still very important to the people, the natives living there. At first, the sailors were barely settlers, hunters, collectors without much of a clue what to do and how to deal with all that wildlife. But as it is with society, it changes, and soon, the people knew how to survive in their new surroundings. They build houses, formed a village, hunted and grew crops, and they build small house altars for their chosen household gods, and for Akamai. The first organisation wouldn't be founded until much later. It wasn't a government, or cultural thing, it was the hunters, Pukaua. They were immensely important at that time, and remained to be so until much later.
No one knows when exactly one village divided into two. From the view of the natives now, there have always been two villages, but of course, it all started with one. They broke off into two groups over a rather stupid thing. The leader of the village and his wife had four children, three boys and one girl. The three boys looked very much alike, and very much like their father. The daughter, though.... just didn't look like either of them. The husband was sure that his wife had cheated on him, which she denied. So, in anger, he struck her down and killed her. This brought a lot of problems with it. Some of the villagers said that the wife had been cheating, and of course the punishment for that was death. But there were others who said that the wife would have deserved a fair trial, and for the execution to be fair, it would have to be a proven fact that she cheated on him. That, in their eyes, made the husband a murderer. An argument between them began, then a fight, then the first civil war in the history of Mokupani, though forgotten. Finally, the ones claiming that there had to be a fair trial were beaten and fleed into the forest, lead by the daughter. One of the sons, the only one who had been on her side, had been slain in the battle, and she swore revenge for what had happened to him and her mother. Close to a lake, inside the protective but dangerous forest, they build a new town, and called it Nahekau, city of the forest, as opposed to Moanale, the city of the ocean. Since then, the two towns had a rivalry often climaxing in wars. The wife, by the way, never cheated on her husband.
The first time after that when the two villages actually worked together was hundreds of years later. It was, of course, not documented, as nothing at that time was, and so it was quickly forgotten just like the rest. It may have been an earthquake, but more likely was a Tsunami. Sure, most of it crashed on the cliffs surrounding the forest, but the part that actually got over it was enough to cause massive destruction to both the villages, especially Moanale, sine it was situated in the bay, the only place for the water to return to sea. Of course, no one knows how catastrophic it really was today. The truth is that is was the worst thing that ever happened to the island, worse than the government and worse than the pirates, yes, even worse than the wars between the villages. And since it was so bad, they had no other choice but to help each other help themselves. How exactly that went down? With a lot of tension, but mostly peacefully, no thanks to the current leader of the Nahekau hunters, who tried to pick a fight with the Moanale hunters every chance he got. Nevertheless, everything went swimmingly, aside from smaller skirmishes, and the villages were happy to go their seperate ways again, though with a slight feeling of satisfaction in their hearts that told them that in the end, they all were the same. In the next years, the relationship between them cooled down a bit, they finally accepted each others existence begrudgingly. It was the end of the time of civil wars.
Still, peace did not last long. About twenty years after the storm, when the next generation was starting to take over, and life finally started feeling normal again, someone arrived. Out of our percpective, that was about five hundred years ago. A strange ship, the kind of which the natives of Moanale had never seen, appeared on the horizon. They were uncertain about how to deal with it. Some screamed for war, others said to welcome the strangers, who were, in the end, only children of Akamai, and some even claimed to know that those strangers must be the gods themselves. The island waited, the pressure rising with every meter the ship got closer to it. When it arrived, it wasn't attacked. The natives eyed, curiously, the first outsiders ever to arrive on the island since almost one thousand years.
They seemed to have come in peace, and in spite of their uncommon looks, their strange clothes and their language, which they did not understand, they were greeted, shyly, mistrustingly, but not rudely. They were offered food, a place to stay, and treatment for the wounded. It took some time to make them understand what exactly they were offered, but in the end, they took the offer thankfully. People stared, and people whispered, and the strangers did the same. There was an unbelievable tension in the air, every step along the way. One must understand: those two cultures had never touched before.
A few weeks after, the strangers left peacefully, and the villagers thought this the end of it. They send Nahekau a message, telling them of the strangers, and were quickly dismissed as quite crazy. But what did it all matter? It was over, anyway. That's what people liked to think, the meeting had left them feeling apprehensive and uneasy. Still, somehow, they knew this wasn't the end. If there was one ship out there able to reach them, who could say how many others there were....
And ships came. The first one about a year after, and then more, in smaller intervals. The villagers were as hospitable as they could be, on the outside. The newcomers carried weapons the likes of which they had never seen, and they did not want to test their strenght. Maybe if they only gave them what they had come for, they would leave again.... More and more of the villagers, though, as time passed, got hostile against the strangers, a hostility gainsed from fear and mistrust. At that time, there was one boy though, a very young boy, who took a step towards the strangers, instead of away from them. His name was Kimo, and he was as afraid as all the others, but also very, very curious. He was the first one to not go to the strangers to try and get them to leave again, although in a friendly manner, but who wanted to learn from them and about them. Kimo was the first one to learn the strange language, and the first one to listen to the stories they had to tell. He was the first one to know where the ships had come from, and where they would head to.
From there, Kimo served as a teacher to those on the island who wanted to be taught, he brought ideas as how to help the sailors better, he was actually the founder of the first hotel on the island, shortly: he brought the world a bit closer to the island, and integrated the island a bit more into the world. He never really got to see the fruits of his hard work, when he died as a man of only thirty, struck by an illness one of the sailors had brought with him fro his home, mistrust was still everywhere, though it had gotten better. There were always those who said helping the strangers was wrong, that it would destroy the traditions of the island. To those, Kimo would, when he was still alive, always reply with a smile that he had never learned of a tradition that forbid them from welcoming a new one. Of course, him going this way proved a point to the opposition. But there was someone to take over the fight for him: his children, especially his youngest, Keanu, took the fight up where he left off.
Of course, now that the existance of the island had been known to the world, there weren't only good people coming there. In fact, the first time pirates came there, Kimo was still alive, a grown man, Keanu still a little kid. Much of what he was fighting for so hard at that time was destroyed again, together with their belongings. People were all too eager to believe that one bad crew of strangers made all strangers bad, and Kimo himself was close to giving up when not he, but one of his sons got an idea. He had heard about something similiar from one of the sailors, and he suggested the island get something like the hunters, only for watching the coast. They could give warning when pirates were approaching, even fight them off if neccessary, and the people wouldn't get hurt anymore. This idea wasn't realised until after Kimo's death, when said son himself, Keanu, founded what would later be known as the Kia'i Kai, the coast guard. Until today, a festival is held for that day, with wine, women, song, fireworks and a fighting competition. Traditionally, the leader of the coast guard gets appointed officially on that day.
Back then, the coast guard was small and unimportant, but it grew with every pirate ship that was sighted. The hunters helped the unexperienced fighters by training them, some even joined themselves, and soon, the coast guard was strong enough to not only warn the villagers in time, but also fight off pirates, should they land. It didn't end the dark age of piracy, but it made it easier.
And then, a new kind of stranger arrived on the island. They said they were the new government, which was to rule over all of the world, and that they claimed this island as their own. Of course, the natives didn't like that. This was their island! Their ancestors had been the first humans here, and they had been the ones to build a civilization here!
So, they fought, and for the first time since the civil wars, hunters and coast guard were used as weapons. Save to say, it was a short fight. The natives didn't have many odern weapons, they didn't have many men. Enough to hold pirates off, but not enough for the government. The leaders of both organizations at that time, Lani, the woman in charge of the hunters, and Makaio, leader of the coast guard, were executed officially, together with some of their followers and the members of the council who did not want to bow their heads to the new rulers. After that, for a long time, the world government ruled over the island. It wasn't a particularily brutal rule, there had been worse, but still, people were dissatisfied. They were ruled by outsiders, and every few years, a new outsider would come to their island, to the big, ugly building they had to build during the first year of rule, and sit down in there complaining about the heat and the savages he had to rule and about the religion and the food and everything that made the island what it was. People were angry, but they endured. They endured the low wages they were paid for work they didn't even want to do, and never would have, they endured that they now had to wear clothes their leader at the time found appropriate, they even endured, though barely, that the coast guard and the hunters were only allowed to exist as a marionette of the government, their pride crushed every day anew.
There was so much enduring that those proud people had to do, they were barely holding on. The only good thing coming fro the tension was that, through their enduring, the two villages got closer than ever, a silent agreement that, no matter how bad they had been to each other, at least they now suffered together, like in the old times. That, and the sudden appearance of modern tools, techniwues and, ost of all, weapons, though they were kept away from the civilists, only the higher ups of the coast guard and maybe the hunters were allowed to carry them.
One of those higher ups, in fact, the daughter of their leader, and therefore a candidate for being the next one, was a young girl named Kaimana, a name that would later become legendary, whispered only with the highest respect or sung out loudly. Here, we also get to times which are a little closer to present. This particular one was about fifty years ago. Kaimana was a very proud girl, even for the standards of the natives, very beautiful and young and strong. That's what has been told, and it's the truth. What hasn't been told, most likely because it wasn't heroic enough, was how headstrong and foolish she was, what unacceptable manners she had, how little respect she held, for the government just as much as for her own culture and religion, and how much trouble she caused her father with her hotheadedness. Spear in her hand, head raised high, trouble always closely following her... Kaimana wasn't loved in her village, people talked and pointed, said how sorry they felt for her father, having such a kid... that was back before she got famous.
It was unexpected when she did. It all started when the current government agent in charge of the island took a liking to her. He ordered her to his office quite a lot, just to be able to talk to her, he wasn't a monster after all, he just wanted to get to know the lady. But Kaimana, in her arrogance, turned him down time after time, and slowly, he got aggravated, until one night, he couldn't bare her coldness anymore, and tried to take her by force. Needless to say, she wouldn't let him, one thing led to another, and in the end, he was dead. It was the first time someone had so openly attacked one of the government's agents, no matter the reason, and Kaimana, in the people's already rebellious minds, rose to an icon fairly quickly. Where her hotheadedness had been critisised before, her courage was now highly respected.
Of course, the government did not like to hear about what had happened. But first, they send new agents, with a peace offer to make. Simply bring them Kaimana, have her executed, and everything would return to normal. Later, another tale would be told: That the agents came to take revenge, that they wanted to burn down the villages and the forest seperating them, desecrate the temple right after they had made sure that Kaimana was dead. This story is a lie. A blatant lie made up by Kaimana's father to protect his daughter. She had been against it, she had wanted to die an honourable death rather than live on a lie for the rest of her life, but she had simply not been asked. And her father was held in high respects as the leader of the coast guard. So, looking back to the events, it wasn't Kaimana who had caused the uprising, her father had. She was simply put in front row as a natural leader, and even that against her will, at first. Of course, no one could make her do anything against her will, but when it became clear to her that she could free the island once and for all (or maybe not, but she was young, and her thinking was extreme), she took the chance. One would think such a small island would surely lose against the big and mighty government. It had lost before after all. But this time was different: They had weapons, the weapons the government agents had stored on the island, they had a lot of anger, a charsmatic leader and they had a brilliant tactician in the leader of the hunters, Nalani.
For the first time, they used the island as a fortress, as is it's nature. The small bay was the only way in, and very slim. They stationed all their weaponry there, waited for the ships to try and reach them and attacked them one by one, from the land and from the high cliffs, where they would not be reached by the weapons of the ships. It went relatively well for a while, and then weapons started to run out. The natives only had the weapons the government had left there, and those weren't enough to fight a war against the whole world, or at least it's ruler. For a while, it looked like Mokupuni would lose, and people started getting nervous. Or would have, had they known about the shortcomings. It was a decision made by both Kaimana, her father, and Nalani, both hunters and coast guard. They would bluff a little longer, hoping the government would make one big mistake and ruin it all.
It was risky, very risky. But it worked. Surprisingly, the governent got impatient. They had lists of the weaponry on the island, but the people looked and shot like their supply was neverending, and slowly, the government started to suspect they had a man on the outside, a pirate maybe or a smuggler who sold them new ammuntion. And if there was a way to get the ware on the island, it had to be somewhere away from the bay, which they had been watching all day. On the other hand, the supplies on the ships were running low, almost too low to make it through the way back. They had to act now or draw back. The commander decided that they would circle the island in search of another way in. A big mistake on his part, he had not known of the cliffs or the riff east of the island. And he had underestimated the natives.
Of course, not all ships were lost to the tide and the riffs, but it was enough for the natives to go out in one final attack, using all the weaponry they had up in it's course. Most of the ships of the government were destroyed, the commander was captured and put on trial by Kaimana herself. Only Nalani's decisive interferance during that trial saved the mans life. She did not do it out of respect, but out of the knowledge that if they killed the man, more ships would come, and they could not make it through another wave of attacks. She did not tell the commander that, but she did negotiate with him, working as a team with Kaimana ( Nalani is barely mentioned in the storys people tell today, but actually, the teamwork consisted of Nalani talking and Kaimana sitting by and yawning sometimes). They did manage to make a deal with him, a few wares from the island every month, not even close to what they really did produce, but they didn't tell him that particular detail, against full freedom of the governments rule and the promise that no harm from their side would ever befall the again. They would not attack, but instead wanted a peaceful together. The commander signed the papers and him and his few surviving men were let go to deliver the message. Safe to say, when he returned, he was executed for treachery, but the contract was legit and had to be kept. After all, why make such a fuss about an island that small and unimportant? Most people hadn't even heard of it.
After the incident, of course people heard of the sall island which had defeated the government. For a while, they were the next big thing, which irritated the government to no end, but they had promised to keep the contract, and this was just a phase after all. Well, they were right about that. While Mokupuni was famous for a while, and the tourism skyrocketed, which some of the people did not like, but which brought the a lot of money, after a while, they were forgotten by most of the world, simply because they did not plan to go any further in the fight. What they had was absolutely enough for them.
As for Kaimana, when her father retired, she joined the contest and won singlehandedly, turning her into something of an icon for the island and the new leader of the coast guard. Her role as the leader was over quickly when she decided that it was simply too boring and ran off with a pirate crew instead. The island was heartbroken, but those who actually remembered her character weren't too surprised, just nodded knowingly and said they had always seen it coming. A few years later, she would return, pregnant, though she would not tell them who the father was. She had a healthy son, who she named Kapena. His skin was a bit lighter than the skin of the natives, and he soon started to grow taller than them.... The old people who truly remembered what Kaimana had always been like just nodded knowlingly and said they had always seen it coming, once again. She stayed on the island, raising and training her son as was tradition (though normally, the training was done by the father) for about ten years. Then she left, the call of the sea too loud to resist. Kapena was left behind, heartbroken. Nalani, who was now an old woman, took him in and finished the training and raising. Kaimana? She was never seen again. All of her that was left on the island was her spear, which is guarded by the hunters as a legendary weapon.
Today, the island lives off of a well flowing tourism. A secret tip between the rich and beautiful, but also the scum of the world who heard that the law was out of effect there. The coast guard is now lead by Kapena, who has a wife and son, Kimo, himself. His rule is iron, but just, and he is hold in high respects in spite of not being a full native, and being the first one to rule the coast guard being none. He holds up a healthy rivalry with his wife, who used to be the leader of the hunters, but retired when she got pregnant and is now in the coast guard, since being torn between hunters and coast guard is really harsh for a child, and also the current leader of the hunters, Konani. But all of this is personal nformation, and not important for the island or it's history any more than any other person walking on it was yet. What the future will bring, no one can tell, but here's betting it has big things in store for Kapena and for Kimo. Not big on a world level, but for some persons, as all things are, those things will change the world a little none the less.

| Subject: Nether Wild - Frog Dragon Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:38 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: Nether Wild Flag: Depends on who's flying the flag Location: Grand Line, Edge of the Calm Belt
Ruler/Territory: It's... complicated
Geography: The Nether Wild is a mountainous and rather large island, occupying the edge of the calm belt near the grand line. The island is round in shape, and large enough to have several mountains about 2 kilometers in height, with the largest around the center of the island topping off at three and a half. There are 14 major mountains. Most of them have yet to be fully explored, and indeed, the island itself is poorly mapped due to all the dangers lurking in the jungles. A section in the part of the island closest to the grand line has been cleared out, but people haven't bothered to go much further. Weather: The Nether Wild is a summer island of a tropical sort, with frequent rain and scorching temperatures throughout the years, with a high level of moisture. The pouring rains are often accentuated by strong tropical winds and lightning storms, which usually just hit somewhere in the forest. People living in the Nether Wild are used to the fact that by the time the backyard has dried, another downpour will appear to turn it into a shallow pool. The weather is not pleasant by any means, though it does foster various types of plants. Population: The island is mostly populated by former pirates and their descendants, as well as marines, result from when Jazar Manoon, the last ruler of independent Nether Wild, sold out to the world government. The island is now in state of volatile peace, with the marines trying to bring the island's occupants under the rule of law, without much backing from the headquarters in Marineford, who feel that the whole thing is mostly a waste of time and not worth spending any extra resources on. This leaves the place with a short fuse, neither side willing to start a bigger fight, but both sides not wanting the other there. Due to this situation, many shifty characters lie low here, because there rarely is anyone with the resources to bring them in. Knowing this, bounty hunters sometimes show up, but the insufficient marine presence still makes it a worthy hideout. The population is centered on a mostly wooden town known as Port Haven. Wildlife: The wildlife of Nether Wild is one its most prominent features, making life both easier and harder for the inhabitants. The island even gets its name from the hellish wildlife of the deeper jungle, which has not been properly researched because of the alarming tendency of Acute Decapitation in whoever tries to research the deep jungle wildlife. However, it is known to contain giant mantises, anacondas, jaguars and other such creatures, which are stronger and more ferocious than those seen elsewhere, necessary to survive in the area. Giant versions of the aforementioned creatures have also been seen. In general, jungle creatures infest the island, growing more dangerous the deeper in one goes, and some even claim that the legendary Giant Python can be found there. The areas nearer to the coast are less dangerous, and many exotic types of meat are hunted there.
Economy and production: The island thrives on hunting and agriculture practiced on the outskirts of Port Haven, but not much else. The rain is good for many types of fruit-bearing trees, and the exotic types of meat hunted from the jungle fetch a pretty price, and as a result, the island gains some money out of culinary opportunities. The various bounty heads running around can also be captured for a batch of cash, but anyone trying is typically on their own in such an endeavor. Typically people make a living as cooks, hunters or fruit farmers, and the local cuisine can be excellent. Reliable taxing has yet to properly implemented because the marines have too much trouble keeping the city in check already. As such, it mostly drains money from the world government in form of marine salaries.
Defense: While Port Haven is only walled to the inside of the island, leaving the port mostly unprotected, the city is far from defenseless. The cramped streets between the dark wood buildings would make things very hard for an invading force, and the local marine base overlooks the port. Secondly, it is one of the only places in the world where wanted pirates and marines would join forces in defense of their town. The marines don't want anymore trouble in Port Haven and most of the pirates and their descendants would prefer to keep the rain-soaked streets as they are, because they find the place holds many opportunities. Military: Since both the outlaws and marines are rather violently opposed to a change in the power dynamics, invaders would find themselves facing marine and pirate side by side, each and every one hardened by life on the Calm Belt. While the defense of the island is not very organized, it is powerful and determined.
Philosophy and beliefs: Everything that doesn't kill you makes you stronger (except full-body paralysis), and you're going to have to be a whole lot stronger to survive out here. Each child is bred in an environment where determination and strength is needed to thrive, and one must thrive to survive. The islanders are big on personal strength and they consider each one person to be the maker of their own luck. Even the friendlier islanders will tell you that when you have a problem, you get off your rear end and fix it yourself. Such is life in Nether Wild. Government: The island is theoretically under the direct control of the marines, but in practice, the place is held together by Mutually Assured Destruction. It is split in two, with the pirates common folk trying to mind their own business as the marines try to crack down on flagrant lawbreaking while pretending to have some power over the island. Most people have come to accept the situation, and just aim not to piss the other side off and try to make it run as smoothly as possible. Some people still fly the jolly rogers of the old rulers and only the marines wave the flag of the world government. The marines are powerless to stop the crime running rampant in the city, and everyone really only hopes to keep the status quo intact.
History: Originally, Nether Wild was found and colonized by pirates, who drifted off-course and decided to settle. Of course, when one group arrived, many followed afterwards, and Port Haven was quickly born, both out of pirates and other people inclined to move. The island being only barely inside the calm belt meant that it was not extraordinarily hard to get in. Of course, the wild animals meant that those not capable of defending themselves died and the rest taught the ways of beating up giant predators to their kids. The place grew, and it started to require actual infrastructure, resulting in a well known pirate captain being put in charge. The tradition of pirates turned rulers worked in some cases, and didn't work in some, but everyone knew that if the islanders got sick of it, they would beat the object of their hatred to kingdom come. The government was afraid of its people. All was well.
Then came Jazar Manoon. Manoon had been granted rule because his father had ruled Port Haven in his time. However, Manoon didn't want the place, and hatched a deal with the world government to let them take over while he lounged his days away in some pleasant island with a nice mansion to his name. The citizens realized what was going on, but it was too late to stop the marine landing. Jazar Manoon's body was found dumped in an alleyway after the marines had landed. The marine forces were great, and both sides knew that a battle would result in a mutual massacre. Stupidity was never prevalent in Port Haven inhabitants, and no-one was interested in dying. The islanders grudgingly allowed the marines to build a base and take nominal control, but everyone knew they could never control the citizens of Port Haven. Even Marineford realized this and cut their losses, only staying in the island at all to save face, leaving the marines as they were in the island. Marines are now sometimes sent there to toughen up, and Port Haven has been left in a state of uncertain stalemate which neither side wants to break in fear that the future could become much worse for it.

| Subject: Eurul Island - Gael Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:38 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: Eurul Island, home of the Eurul Kingdom Flag: They do not fly a flag. Location: Grand Line
Ruler/Territory: Eurul is ruled by two men: the Administrator Fionn MacAlasdair, and King Eoghan MacEoin. The Administrator is a master of throwing knives, capable of throwing several of the knives hidden in his clothes at a target accurately and in rapid succession. A surprising number of knives are sewn into the various bits of his clothing, making him capable of making them seem to appear out of nowhere. Fionn is also able to use the Tenchi Tenchi no Mii, which he will use to trap people in a realm of his own making. He will use this power readily to manipulate his opponents, using his realm’s ‘rules’ to outlaw devil fruits, weapons, or both. He has also used this realm to train the soldiers of Eurul in the art of war through firsthand experience. He has a surprisingly playful personality, enjoying forcing people to play these ‘games’ with him, as in his realm, death is impossible. He can also move with fair speed and agility, but he is outclassed in nearly every regard by King Eoghan.
King Eoghan has honed the senses of sight, hearing, and smell to their peak. He can see almost completely clearly with the slightest amount of light, can see even in blinding lights, can hear a pin drop from across a room, and can sense movement through smell and hearing. His reflexes are outstanding, as he can spin 180 degrees to counter someone behind him in less than a second. His speed is also impressive, as his top speed is around 75 meters per second. His body is rather flexible, due to his rather young age: he can get up close and personal without getting accidentally entangled. His physical prowess is further demonstrated by the fact that he can use a unique martial artist style based off separating bones at the joints. It allows him to unlock joints, so that he can strain the muscles and ligaments of opponents. This technique can be performed even without proper contact with the joint, as he wrenches the joints apart from outside the body.
If his martial arts are somehow not good enough, he also has two odd weapons held in the hands. They take the form of a curved blade that arcs over the hands, before curving outwards near the pinky finger end. These hand-blades can be used to catch swords, and parry them away so the curved end can be used to slice through opponents. Besides this, he also has a lot of skill with the bow and arrow, able to hit within a meter of a target from a kilometer away.
Geography: The island of Eurul is about 103,000 square kilometers, and its shape is elliptical. The island is ringed by a large mountain range, with only one slightly smaller mountain providing the only entrance to the inside. The central part of Eurul is a largely flat basin, save a hill upon which the capital of Eurul, Eulycul, sits, and a depression next to Eulycul that houses a lake. The inner basin sits slightly below sea level, and the mountains can technically be climbed, though it is rather dangerous, if you are not careful. The mountains form a perfect boundary, so that seawater does not flow into the basin of the island and drown the inhabitants. Weather: Eurul Island’s basin has the weather of a temperate deciduous forest. Winter is very short in Eurul Island, usually lasting a month at the most. Spring and fall last three months apiece, and summer lasts five. However, summer isn’t that hot: temperatures rarely hit the 90’s (32 Celsius), and the winter is the same: temperatures barely ever hit freezing. The spring and fall times usually hang out in the mid to high fifties (13-15 Celsius). During the summer, rain is rather reliable: at least a day of rain per week. In the winter, it usually only rains once or twice, and during fall and spring, rain comes twice a week. The mountains are plagued with a far longer winter: winter lasts ten months, and summer only lasts one. This is because the mountains have a taiga biome rather than the temperate biome of the basin. The winters are also far worse, able to reach temperatures below negative 15 degrees. Summers are also cooler, in the forties to fifties. Population: Eurul Island is populated by humans: a fair three hundred thousand people. The Euruleans always have a standing army of one hundred thousand elite troops, trained in combat and unafraid of death. About fifty thousand people work as farmers and hunters, growing and hunting food for the army. Another fifty thousand people work as blacksmiths, providing weapons and armor for the warrior caste, as well as tools for the farmers. The other hundred thousand people work as miners, fishers, or as artisans in other fields: potters, carpenters, masons, and other such professions. These numbers are not concrete: they are the average number. There is no sexism in any of the professions, rooted in the beliefs of the Eurulean people. Wildlife: The forests of Eurul are filled with songbirds, rabbits, snakes, squirrels, and even bears of many varying species, though none of the snakes are poisonous. The forests also include many varieties of hardwood, including one species of fast growing hardwood, as well as various sweet smelling flowers and grasses. The mountains are sparsely populated by goats, snow leopards, mountain lions, and even wolves on the lower portions of the slopes. The mountains have quite a few species of pine tree on the slopes facing the basin, as well as a few, sparse grasses. The lake is filled with bass, perch, trout, and many other species of edible fish, as well as several forms of algae, though these only live near the surface: the lake really goes far down to a series of caves under the island, as well as several full aquifers. It is impossible to poison the island’s water supply, as the water is filled with bacteria and algae that break down pollutants in order to survive. Economy and production: Inside the mountains, there is a large source of iron, steel, clay, and many other minerals used for all sorts of professions, including marble. There is a rare grindstone as well, used by the blacksmiths of Eurul to sharpen weapons before giving them to their warrior caste owners. While most of the Eurulean people’s creations remain inside the country, the blacksmiths of Eurul are renowned for their amazing skill at weapon making, and as such, the few swords that are sold from Eurul bring large amounts of money into the country. The Euruleans will usually sell large amounts of pottery, furniture, and generally whatever excess they have so they can have money for when they may absolutely need outside aid. They also have a small deposit of seastone, not frequently used by the island: instead, it is hoarded by the King, and each new King gets the previous one’s hoard. This is the cause for many of the armies that are sent the Eurulean’s way. All in all, the Euruleans don’t make much: only about 250,000 beli per thread.
Defense: The main defense of Eurul is provided by the high mountain range ringing the basin. The mountains are near impossible to climb from the ocean, thus, all invaders would be funneled through the port city of Egas. Egas was cut into one of the mountains, and it has a stone dock, at which only one ship is able to dock at a time. This city was carved and built for the dual purpose of being a defense and being residential. Besides the guard at Egas, the roads created by the Euruleans have been linked from city to city: however, there is no direct road from Egas to Eulycul. The roads from Egas lead to other Eurulean cities: Ethul, Ethadya, and Euratrum. These cities have roads that lead to other cities, as well as Eulycul. Each city is surrounded by a wall, from which the Euruleans will defend the inner city with a storm of arrows. Eulycul itself is almost impossible to get through, as it is tiered into four layers, each with a stronger wall than the last. Military: The Eurulean people always have a highly trained fighting force at hand to defend the port city of Egas, usually relying on ‘older’ weaponry, such as bows, crossbows, lances, swords, and on rare occasions, axes. Many of the non warrior-caste people are easily capable of defending themselves as well, making it to the point where to get through even one city, one’ would basically have to kill the entire populace to move on. At Eulycul, the King and the Administrator have the best of the best, each at about Ensign strength when alone, and even more powerful as a group. The King and the Administrator together could take down a Rear Admiral with near ease. Each city has its own garrison of men, whom cycle through the cities at monthly intervals. Besides this, the Euruleans have garrisoned each city with incredibly fast runners, able to take messages to Eulycul in very little time in case of a larger than normal attack.
Philosophy and beliefs: The Eurul kingdom has a strange marriage of caste-based society and social Darwinism. The king of the Eurul kingdom is chosen through one on one combat: only the strongest person may have the position of king or queen. Any man or woman may challenge the current king or queen; however, due to the formidable strength of the king or queen, challengers are few and far between. The island believes in a very rigid social structure: in general, a warrior comes above the blacksmiths, and the blacksmiths come above the farmers, while the farmers come above the other artisans. However, despite this, each class has a strong sense of respect for the others: the warriors are needed to defend the country, the blacksmiths are needed to supply the warriors with weapons, and the farmers with tools, and the farmers are needed to feed the rest of the country. The artisans at the bottom are the least respected, as they create objects that are more of trifles than anything ‘truly’ important. Movement between castes is totally possible, and depends entirely on the effort of the individual. The Euruleans believe whole heartedly in the belief that strength deserves respect, and that strength is everything. Government: The Eurul kingdom is ruled mostly as a military state, headed by two commanders. The Commander in Chief, also known as the King, is the face of the Eurulean government. He controls matters of the army, dealing with criminals, and half of the diplomatic relations with other islands and kingdoms. The Administrator, the second in command, deals with half of the diplomatic relations with other islands. The Administrator also deals with food production, population management, and ensuring the army has been properly trained to the King (or Queen)’s standards. The Administrator usually has a few officials stationed in each city to maintain control over those areas.
History: Sometime during the Void Century, Eurul Island was populated by a group of radicals, who desired strength and power above all else. The culture they came from was one that celebrated the beauty of simple things, and as such, once they managed to get into the inner area of Eurul Island, their initial, simple settlements carried the essence of simplicity and practicality. Amongst those who migrated to Eurul were people of many professions: mountaineers, blacksmiths, masons, miners, farmers, woodsmen, hunters, career soldiers… this settlement had everything. For a while, all the people of Eurul could do was firmly implant themselves in their new country.
Around the end of the Void Century, the values and beliefs of the nation had become solidly ingrained into the culture. No true governmental system had been officially established, however, the quickly growing settlement was unofficially governed by the men and women with the most respect: oddly enough, all of them had served as career soldiers or mercenaries. Though not an accepted fact of life yet, the seeds of a strength-ruled nation had been sown. Stone buildings had begun being built, starting the older districts of Euratrum and Ethul. Unofficial sparring matches and training with bows and arrows to hunt continued, and through the paranoia of a few of the leaders, the knowledge of sword fighting was passed down to the next generation.
A stranger made his way onto the island around 704 AOS (820 years ago), and his arrival made the Euruleans realize that they were not without worry. Remembering their ancestral roots as militant radicals, they reawakened a zealous interest in matters of war. Children were now trained as soldiers, and it was finally decided that a more efficient method of rule was necessary. Thus was born the Kingship of Eurul: the leaders of the people fought to near death, and the victor was proclaimed queen. The new queen proclaimed the need for a proper capital city: if they were to defend themselves, they would need proper structures for it. The location for the city was decided, and the construction of a four walled, marble city, Eulycul, was begun. The people began trying to increase their skills in blacksmithing and mining, so as to provide plenty of armor and weapons to their sons and daughters.
At around 732 AOS, Eulycul was completed. The city was a remarkable sight, and the queen, who was growing old, expressed an opinion that the Euruleans needed to increase their defenses at home before she offered a shocking suggestion: attacking the outside world. Furious at her blatant disregard for the lives of the soldiers, an up and coming young man challenged her to a duel for the title of ‘Ruler’. In the combat that followed, the young man succeeded in defeating the queen. Setting a precedent for his country’s traditions, he became the next king. His first order was to build more cities: they needed more defensible locations than just Eulycul. Euratrum and Ethul were the first targets, which were followed by smaller settlements, like Ethadya.
At around 798 AOS, Ethadya had been completed, and several other cities had been begun. With building work on the decline, blacksmithing soared. Some of the most skillfully made weapons of Eurul were made in this period, though this period of blacksmithing genius did not last long. Iron veins went dry, and iron became precious: many items prior to this period were smelted and remade into necessary items. Only family heirlooms survived.
From 801 to 804 AOS Eurul experienced a drought, leading to a population decline. This led to the Euruleans finding more efficient ways to do things, enabling their works and projects to be completed with far less hassle.
During a period from 900 to 964 AOS, Eurul experienced advancements in mining technology, gaining access to ways to plow into their resources like never before. Though they found a large amount of iron and other resources, they also found a large number of gemstones, precipitating the tragic Heresy of Opulence.
In 963 AOS, King Aongus rose to power. He obtained a large quantity of gemstones from the mines, and began using the uncut precious crystals to decorate the Grand Hall of Eulycul. He had an inordinate fascination with the sparkling objects, and his successor, Queen Iosbail, was even vainer. She shattered the ‘simplicity and practicality’ motto of her people to smithereens by adorning her hair, her body, and even her weaponry with glittering gems. This line of vain and foolish heretics continued for 173 years, until 1166 AOS. This vanity reached its peak in 1134 AOS, when Queen Seonaid demanded for a tunnel to be cut through one of their border mountains, Carrick Down, and then a city to be constructed in its gullet.
In 1166 AOS, Queen Sitheag, also known as the Savior of Antiquity, defeated the king preceding her, and began the systematic restoration of old principles. She gathered up all the gemstones from her predecessor’s vanity, sorted them by type, and then placed them in chests, which she hid in a secret chamber in the Grand Hall. She allowed the continuation of the tunnel’s construction, realizing that their people would eventually need to meet the outside world. In around 1205 AOS, the tunnel finally reached the other end of the mountain, and Sitheag, on her last legs, asked for the masons to put their heart and soul into the construction of the city, to be named Egas.
In around 1372 AOS, the newest queen proved to be extremely powerful… however, she turned out to be extraordinarily stupid. She obtained an advisor to assist her in making decisions, considering how inept she was at economics. This advisor soon took over all the administrative responsibilities of the country, and he became known as the Administrator. This began the tradition of two rulers: one to showcase the strength of the country, one to aid in the proper governing of the country.
In 1434 AOS, three hundred years after the beginning of the tunnel’s inception, the city of Egas was completed. The Euruleans had received visitors from the outside while the city was being completed, and they did not like what they saw. The Eurulean’s opinion of outsiders worsened as they came under attack by pirates, seeking the treasures of the newly opened island. The lowest classes of Eurulean society attempted to trade away their ‘wastes’, especially the mysterious sea-colored mineral they had discovered in the mountains. They learned it was a substance called seastone, sought after by people the world over. The apparent value of seastone led to it all being collected and hidden with the gems under the Grand Hall.
When the Marines tried to coerce the seastone out of the Euruleans in 1463 AOS, the Euruleans refused, as to submit would destroy their pride. This lead to alternating attacks by Marines and pirates alike, either trying to take their gems, or trying to take their seastone. This has led to an extreme distrust of outsiders: in 1468 AOS, the queen of the time sent out a mandate: all outsiders require a license to trade with Eurul, and all outsiders must give up any and all weaponry upon entering the country. To refuse meant to forfeit one’s life. In 1474 AOS, this was expanded to include an escort of armed guards, to ensure that the outsider would not cause any problems.
In 1497 AOS, the youngest king in Eurulean history, Eoghan, rose to the throne at age 20. He found his Administrator in a 17 year old, also the youngest in Eurulean history: Fionn. The pair of them became the strongest pair in history, and Fionn’s special power to create alternate dimensions allowed them to build the strongest army in the history of Eurul. Eoghan ordered the construction of Ard Carrick Pass over Egas in Carrick Down, in order to provide a more subtle access to the sea. The Pass was only a quarter done by the end of 1499 AOS. By 1500 AOP, the year of Roger’s death, they had managed to establish a sort of reputation for their country: a country that couldn’t fall to anything short of an army.

| Subject: Eden Beach - Sleepy Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:42 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: Eden Beach
Flag: A red flag with a picture of five Armadillos standing next to each other in the form of the Olympic rings.
Location: West Blue
Ruler/Territory: Freelanced, A vacation place for both pirates and marines.
Geography: The Eden Beach is an island that resides in the West Blue, close to the entry to the Grand Line. The island is shaped like a foot with another miniature island shaped like a ball that is about 2 meters away from the original island. The main island is the populated part of Eden Beach. It consists mainly out of hotels, restaurants and bars, with houses and shacks that are used by the workers of the said hotels and bars for living. The miniature island, the real Eden Beach, is the main tourist attraction of the place. It is simply a gigantic beach, on which the special plants and animals that make Eden beach so special live. The main island and the beach are separated by a 2 meter wide canal and are connected with various bridges.
Weather: The weather in Eden Beach can be described as ideal. The temperature is always around 36 degrees Celsius, the ideal temperature for a day at the beach. Eden's winter is only one month long and it comes in a specific time of the year, easily predictable for the hotel managers to time their special sales. The other months of the year are sunny, making the population tanned and mostly shirtless.
The special thing about Eden Beach is it's special flora. A special type of pineapple trees, named "Eden Pines", grow on the main island of Eden beach. These pineapple trees, while in the main island, sprout delicious pineapples that are a great tourist attraction on their own. But, the real magic occurs when a seed of these trees reaches the beach. When a seed of an Eden Pine reaches the beach, either by the local animals or any other manner, they grow into a completely different plant. The seed sprouts it's first roots to the left and to the right. These roots grow until the length of the roots sums up to a total of six meters. Then, the roots sprout their first buds. The result is two separate buds from a single seed. These buds grow to form two two meter tall trees. These trees sprout tendrils. These tendrils grow towards each other and get tangled between them, creating a structure similar to a volleyball net between the two trees. The net is extremely elastic and durable and can't be cut by hand. These natural volleyball nets are the main tourist attraction of Eden Beach and they cover a great portion of the beach island.
Population: Eden Beach is populated by extremely tanned men and women. These people are divided into two groups: The players and the Islanders. The Islanders are the people who live on the main island. almost all of them are either in the food business or hospitality business, taking advantage of the tourist attraction that is Eden Beach. These people are usually very rich and stay close to the VIP guests that visit the island regularly. The Islanders serve as fans of the Players and organize fan clubs to support their favorite teams. The kids of the Islanders usually join a group of Players in their late childhood . The Players are a young group of people who live in the outskirts of the main island and spend most of their time on the beach with the tourists. These people make their living out of one thing: Footvolley. The island's special flora and wildlife make it the ideal playing ground for Footvolley. The Players are divided into numerous teams, each with it's own colors, flags, songs and fans. These teams organize matches between them and between tourist groups such as pirate crews or marine crews that visit the island and look for some fun. The Players make their living out of the Islanders who watch their games and the tourists who both watch and play with them. When the Players grow too old to play anymore they either move to the main island and start a life as Islanders or turn to coaches for younger Players. Wildlife: Along common insects and various birds and reptiles, Eden Beach is the home of a special breed of armadillos:
Footdillos: These are a special breed of armadillos that live only in Eden Beach. These armadillos are yellow-brown colored and they reach the size of an average volleyball when they reach puberty. The armadillos feed on the fruits of the Eden Pine. They roll in to resemble a ball and then push each other against trees until a pineapple falls down. While they eat it, the seeds stick to their bodies and fall on the beach when the armadillos return to it thanks to the sand sticking to the seeds and weakening their natural glue. Afterwards, the seeds grow to become the natural volleyball nets on the beach on which the armadillos make their homes and raise their babies. On the single month of winter, the armadillos dig tunnels on the beach and mate. In the other eleven months, as a result of non-mating, the mature armadillos become hyperactive. The armadillos look for playmates in order to get rid of the hyperactivity and turn to the Players and tourists. The Players use the armadillos as volleyballs in their Footvolley matches, both to have fun with the animals and to stop the armadillos from becoming aggressive. The armadillos have an elastic body and a hard armor, creating the exact texture of a volleyball. While they are curled into a ball they are impervious to human kicks and are safe while the humans play their games.
Economy and production: The economy of Eden Beach consists of two main incomes: Food and tourism. In the food section, the island is the only place in the world in which the delicious Eden Pineapples" grow. These pineapples, as stated before, are extremely delicious and are filled with various nutrients that can also be used in medicines. The island attracts many doctors and chefs who wish to obtain the special fruits and buy them from the Islanders who grow them. This is a serious income that can sum up to 500,000 belis a thread. In the tourism section, Eden Beach is a perfect vacation island for both pirates and marines. The marines who leave for a vacation can find Eden Beach as the perfect place for a weekend chill. Pirates who pass by the Calm Belt can use Eden Beach for a quick vacation, enjoying the island's great beach. The tourists are either stationed in the hotels of the Islanders or in the docks, paying either way. The tourists may also participate in the bets and Footvolley games, giving money to the Players as well. The Footvolley tournaments bring massive waves of fans that make the island's economy jump to the roofs. This massive economic branch can sum up to 1,000,000 belis per thread.
Defense: Eden Beach usually has no security problems, thanks to the fact that both pirates and marines reach the island for vacation. If a problem does occur, the Islanders, who stay in close relations with every marine that arrives in the island, can ask the marines to interfere for the sake of their favorite vacation site. It has no security structures and is protected by marines who stay on the island for a vacation almost all year long.
Military: Eden Beach, thanks to putting all of it's efforts in sport and tourism, has no military force. If the need of a military interference rises, a few Footvolley that use their kicking skills for combat, may assist in defending their home. The Footvolley fighting style consists of powerful kicks from the powerful legs of the Players. As a result, thanks to the Islander's close relations with marines and thanks to the Player's fighting skills, Eden Beach is a relatively safe place to live in.
Philosophy and beliefs: Eden Beach is not the home of any unique religion. It does have a philosophy though, "Sport is Glory". The people of Eden Beach live by their Footvolley teams. If it's by playing or by cheering and betting, all islanders are in to this sport. They sleep, eat and breath Footvolley. The teams, who take this sport more seriously than the Islanders, address it like a religion, making everything to preserve their luck for the next game. Government: The people of Eden Beach, who believe that sport comes first, are guided by a council of the twelve greatest Footvolley players of all times. These Players are all 50 years old or older and are chosen by the islanders to rule the island for a duration of two years. The council, that is called "Council of Glory", is responsible for the island's safety, economy, and social life. They are the ones who organize the major Footvolley tournaments and are the ones who report to the government about any pirate activity in their vicinity, keeping their island clear of thieves and plunderers, making the pirates who stay on the island to enjoy a quiet vacation instead of piracy.
History:
Eden Beach was inhabited by a tribe of people who lived there for as long as they remembered. The tribe lived in a barbaric life-style, trying to survive in the weird environment of Eden Beach. These tribal men were the ones to invent Footvolley, using it to determine woho was the strongest male who would lead the tribe. At some point, a pirate crew arrived at Eden Beach, noticing it's great potential as a vacation site. They kept the island a secret and visited it every few months to rest and vacate. After the captain of the said pirate crew grew old he resided in Eden beach, and started making money in the legal way: tourism. He used his pirate money to build a hotel on the island and started hosting people in the magnificent heaven of culture called Eden Beach - named after heaven. The island grew, with more people residing in it and more hotels were built. The people left the beach intact, keeping the natural habitant of the Footdillos and the playing field of the Footvolley as they were. As the years past, the people in Eden Beach grew interested in the tribal game, learned how to play it, and thus completed the mix of cultures between the modern age and the native tribe. 10 years after the captain resided in the island, it became a leading tourist site in the West Blue. The connection bridges between the two islands were built and with the easy connection to the beach, the island's social started to center around Footvolley. Different kinds of tournaments were founded and Footvolley teams and clubs started to form as the interest in the said game grew. After the death of the captain, the Council of Glory was founded in order to keep Footvolley the way it is while keeping the island a peaceful place to rest and have fun.
A little bit about Footvolley: Footvolley combines field rules that are based on those of beach volleyball with ball-touch rules taken from Association Football. Essentially footvolley is beach volleyball except no hands and a football replaces the volleyball. Points are awarded if the ball hits the ground in the opponents' court, if the opponents commit a fault, or if they fail to return the ball. Scoring is done using the rally point system (NEW volleyball rules). Matches may vary based on organizer's determination. Generally speaking matches are one set to 18 points; or best of three sets to 15 points (with third set to 11 points). The court is 29.5 feet x 59 ft (old beach volleyball). The height of the net varies based on the competition. The Official International Rule for the net height set is 2.2 meters or 7 feet 2 inches for the men's competition. For the women's competition, the height of the net should be set at 2 meters or 6 feet 6 inches. On the Pro Footvolley Tour, the height of the net is set at 2.1 meters or 6 feet 11 inches

| Subject: Tower of Fallen Angels - Gael Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:44 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: The Tower of the Fallen Angels Flag: World Government flag Location: New World Ruler/Territory: World Government, on site is run by the Vice Admiral Sangetsan. Vice Admiral Sangestan has the Kyomei Kyomei no Mii, as well as a form of Rokushiki utilizable due to the vibrations generated by Sangetsan’s cells. Geography: The Tower of the Fallen Angels is located on top of a plateau that rises out of the sea, the edges of the island consist of sharp, jagged cliffs. The top of the island is completely flat, and almost all soil has been either removed or covered over. The only way to get onto the island itself is through a staircase cut into the rock to an elevator, which is powered by the earnings from the thunderstorms. Weather: The island is largely frequented by large thunderstorms, easily conducted by the metal frame of the Tower to be stored in generators in the basement, where the shocks are used to create electric fences. The Tower is also frequently buffeted by windstorms, tornadoes, and similar problems. The Tower is usually protected by Vice Admiral Sangetsan’s unique Devil Fruit ability. When it is not assaulted by thunderstorms or tornadoes, the sky is cloudless. Population: The population of the island is about one thousand jailors (called rehabilitators), five thousand Marine guards, and about ten thousand prisoners. The true number fluctuates depending on the influx of pirates and new recruits. The island is in the secure possession of the Marines, and has been for some time. Wildlife: Not anything of real import: some migratory birds, pigeons, squirrels perhaps. The island really isn’t surrounded by any really dangerous fishes. The majority of the previous wildlife has been bulldozed away to provide space for residences and the Tower. Economy and production: The island itself doesn’t really produce anything: it needs to import most of its food, and the only thing it ever puts out are rehabilitated pirates and dead corpses. It produces some electricity too, but that’s usually used by the Tower. Defense: The island is ringed by a very thick stone wall, mounted with mobile cannons and machine guns. The only entrance is a harbor, which is made of wood (back up materials are stored further inland), and the harbor is rigged with explosives in order to prevent escapes or uninvited entrances. The power to the elevator can be cut at will, and then the shaft would have to be climbed by hand. The rest of the island is densely packed with buildings, so Marines can snipe at invaders from atop the buildings. That is, if the invaders even get that far. Inside the Tower itself, there aren’t really that many defensive systems in place, save for one: Sangetsan. He will kill to defend the prisoners from any outside influences. Military: The island is mostly defended on the interior by five thousand Marines, though the main military power is Sangetsan. He uses special resonance golf balls, combined with his devil fruit, to destroy ships before they even reach the island. The rest of the military uses simple rifles, sabers, and other typical Marine equipment. Philosophy and beliefs: The ‘rehabilitators’ of the Tower of Fallen Angels believe that pirates can be transformed into productive members of society. Sangetsan is one of the foremost believers of this principle, based on his experiences with the prisoner ‘Kuchula’, the most dangerous prisoner in the prison. They are one of the few Marine groups that do not believe in Absolute Justice, instead believing in Moral Justice. Government: The Tower of Fallen Angels follows a simple form of government: the prisoners listen to the rehabilitators, the rehabilitators listen to the guards, and the guards listen to Sangetsan. Sangetsan, in turn, listens to his higher ups in the Marines. History: The island upon which the Tower of Fallen Angels is situated used to be a rather inhospitable wasteland plagued by terrible weather, and otherwise unsuitable for human habitation. This was changed when Vice Admiral Sangetsan received permission to create the Tower of Fallen Angels. The Tower was created, as it was decided that having one prison, from which people can easily break out of, was not a good idea. Thus, the Tower was born: not as a simple place of holding, but rather as a place where pirates could be rehabilitated into decent members of society. As the Tower was under construction, it came under attack by a powerful and dangerous pirate by the name of Kuchula. Kuchula wreaked havoc on the workers and guards until Jukuri managed to defeat and incapacitate her. Due to his timely arrival, the Tower was able to finish completion without further incident. Kuchula became the Tower’s first prisoner, and the number grew from there. More and more prisoners arrived at the Tower of Fallen Angels, and Jukuri’s methods proved extremely effective. Every week, prisoners underwent emotional and personality evaluation to determine if rehabilitation had been successful. Their efforts were rewarded, as almost every week, prisoners were reassigned as butlers, servants, builders, and given other jobs for the Marines and World Government. Over time, and through the efforts of released prisoners, the area around the Tower grew to what it is today. Even now, ex-prisoners are working to build the Tower higher, and to strengthen its foundations. Kuchula, though she was clearly capable of escape, elected, for some reason, to remain at the Tower. Jukuri has interpreted this as a desire for repentance, and as such has become friendly with her, and given her benefits no other prisoner or ex-prisoner has ever received.

| Subject: Pirate's Graveyard - Frog Dragon Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:46 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: Pirate's Graveyard Flag: Gravestone Flag (Flag with a gravestone at the center.) Location: Grand Line
Ruler/Territory: Gravekeepers, Pirate's Graveyard
Geography: Pirate's graveyard is a flat island, rising from the ocean in an ovular formation, though with many irregularities along the edges, with small islands a stone throw away from the main one, some connected by land-bridges of sorts, while most others have been bridged by the inhabitants. The land is fairly forested, though a lot of it has been cut down for the graveyard placed dead center in the island. The forests occupy a ring between the coastal settlements spanning sparsely along the coastline and the graveyard dominating the island from the center. Weather: The Pirate's Graveyard is dominated by temperate coniferous forest, with moderate amounts of rain and humidity. The island makes for decent farmland, a fact put to use by the inhabitants unwilling to rely on anyone else. The weather is surprisingly predictable on grand line standards, being about what you'd expect for an autumn island. All in all, it makes for a fairly stable ecosystem with little surprises, something a bit surpising on the grand line, where even nature cannot be trusted. Population: In large part, the population of the Pirate's is human, though they will accept any who can accept the general ideology of the rulers of the island, so fishmen and other nonhumans are not unheard of in the Pirate's Graveyard. Most of the population is farmers, hunters or warriors, either defending or sustaining the island. There are some visitors, mostly from pirates wishing to see the graves of former enemies of the world government, though these people are rarely let in without guard, unless they are well known for fear that they might loot some of the graves. Wildlife: There is nothing particularly extraordinary about the wildlife of the Pirate's Graveyard. It includes elk, bears, rabbits, wolves and other such creatures, and they are not truly extraordinary, and do not pose any sort of problem for the battle-ready people of the Pirate's Graveyard. They mostly serve as something to be ignored most of the time and hunted when necessary, though they do serve as a minor deterrent for would-be graverobbers. Economy and production: The island has few natural resources, but the population is content in simplicity. The farm what they can and hunt what they can, importing an exporting little, living in an economically closed system. Hunting and farming brings in enough supplies for the populace, and when they need the money, they can export timber, though exceedingly poor relations with the world government make this somewhat difficult. Mostly, people live there not for economic opportunities, but birth or willingness to support the community.
Defense: The island is well fortified, having various defense towers on the smaller islands lining the shoreline of the Pirate's Graveyard, all supplied with cannons to repel attacks. It also has a well fortified central building, designed to resist cannons and stay intact for as long as possible. The graveyard itself is also walled off, with only 3 gates. These walls aren't particularly sturdy though. The defense force itself consists of many powerful warriors, and most of the populace has some combat experience. A defense is led by the leader of the island and the Gravekeepers. Who this is varies from time to time, as pirates tend to come and go. Military: The Gravekeepers head the military of the island, mostly to prevent anyone from disturbing the graves. Mostly, they work as a deterrent for marines, who have yet to succesfully assault the island.
Philosophy and beliefs: The dead deserve their rest among those like them, especially in case of those who truly made a mark on the world. They value power to change, and have made it their personal mission to retrieve the body of any infuential pirate, revolutionary, or other outlaw who might otherwise fail to get a proper burial. They are dedicated, and pirates who go away from the island almost always return to serve once more, for those without conviction don't become Gravekeepers. Dedication is a requirement, and it shows. Government: The Gravekeepers lead the island, mostly leaving the people to their own devices, but taking firm control in times of crisis or war. Their rule is fairly absolute, and basically everyone in the island who is not simply a random visitor works for the Gravekeepers in on form or another. This is perfectly fine, because most people can be counted as Gravekeepers due to the relative vagueness of the organization. This also means that the government is very informal, and it mostly works because everyone knows how things ought to work in the Pirate's Graveyard. The government is just how people like it, because in the end, the people are the government.
History: Not all pirates are in it for loot, pillage, or even freedom. Some do it for reasons entirely different, and they are more common than one would expect. Legacy holds great value to some, and they will do anything to preserve and uphold it. These are the kind of people who will bury a criminal wanted for several hundred million beli, and then pay their respects at the grave yearly afterwards, simple because of the massive impact they had on the world. Because they were important, and they were colleagues.
The Pirate's Graveyard is a manifestation of this mindset. Pirates revering their ancestral inspirations found an unused flat island, and began a project that continues to this day. The ones who the World Government would execute and leave to rot would be gathered and honorably buried. Surprisingly, there are plenty of people willing to carry out this task, and many graves have now been dug.
However, the world government considered this an affront, a display of defiance. Thus, they have sought to turn the effort to naught as a display of power and as a warning to others. However, unfaltering guardians, made from former pirates, revolutionaries and other people willing to guard the rest of dead outlaws still guard the site, leaving the place in a constant state of readiness. They call themselves the Gravekeepers, and a settlement of sorts has risen under their rule, though the graveyard continues to dwarf it all.

| Subject: Tundra Island - Sorrykid Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:48 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: Tundra island Flag: World Government Location: Grand line
Ruler/Territory: Head Chief Takasham
(Four line minimum starts here) Geography: Tundra Island is about 1,800 miles from coast to coast. The island has a oval shape like appearance. The surface of the island is covered with snow and ice complete with tall mountains called Angel's Bliss at the middle of the island where the city captial, Sub Zero, is at. Since there is little reuseable land, the island has tribes scattered all throughout the land next the mountains. There are giant iceburgs that have broken off from the main land forming huge mazes surrounding the island. Only the most skilled of navigators could sail throughout the iceburgs to reach the island.
Weather: Tundra is a winter island that could reach temperatures below -4 and onlt higher than 32 degrees. Winter can lasts for six months here which means that there are only three months for spring and summer. Fall doesn't exist in a since the weater quickly changes to freezing temperatures. During the winter, the island have vicious snow storms three times a day. The snow raises from ground on average four feet with deadly ice to slip on. There are about a period of four hours between snow storms giving people enough time to do chorus and gather food. During the snow storms, the temperature could reach below -89 degrees with winds going as far as 69 miles per hour. In the spring/ summer the tempertures could rise to 32 to 53 degrees. It is the only time when it stops snowing long enough for vegetation and grass to grow for farming.
Population: Due to the extreme conditions of the island, only 1,500 people live on the island.
Wildlife: The hiking bear lives up in Angel biss where they rarely leave the mountains except for food. They are usually friendly to humans. The only exception is when you don't greet them with a bow. Then they will force you to sit a traditional japanese style for one hour which could cause cramps. The Lapahn thrive in this environment. They are to be avoided at all times for they are very aggressive to protect their territory. The dense snow and slippery ice does not hinder them in the least. In fact it even helps them to catch prey. They are very valuable to the people of the island with fur worth about 50,000 beli, and meat costing 1,000 beli. The White Walkies are used for transportation on this island. Due to their thick fur, the white walkies are not bothered by the weather. This makes them ideal for traveling long distances at days at a time. The white walkies could also climb vertical surfaces up the mountians which takes a weeks journey. Snow birds are scared to the people of this island, and are illegal to harm them. The wolf units used in Impel down are native here. They are resistant to the cold, and hunt anything in sight. These wolves are a constant threat to villagers are known to attack dragging dozens of villagers leaving blood stains in the snow. The Domo Peguins lives on the coasts of the island moving the iceburgs surrounding the islands to trap fish. They sometimes accidently crash the iceburgs unto incoming ships which could be dangerous. Sea lions, seals, and snow foxes could also be found here.
Economy and production: Tundra has very limited natural resources. The biggest export for this island is in fact cola which suppiles near half the world. A large factory is located at the capital. The capital itself is a tourist attraction itself. Its a city made of ice.
Defense: The island is protected by large iceburgs that constantly drifts in the sea largely thanks to the Domo Peguins. The cold climate also makes a power detterent against pirats and other invaders. The capital is the only place that is fortified. The entire city is protected by a wall of ice hard enough to withstand the cannons of a warship.
Military: Each tribe has its own warriors. Their uniform inculde a mixture of Domo Peguin and White walkie fur to protect them from the cold. Underneath their uniforms is leather armor lined with seal blubber to soften blows and attacks from weapons. The testament of their strength is that each are strong enough to go on par with a bear. Their weapons included a spear, a tomahawk, sometimes a bow, and a knife. The capital itself is guarded by 1,000 warriors each capable of fighting a sea king single handly. They are trained much harder than the other warriors in its sister tribes. Rank are determined by the animal that hunter kills as a child during their trials as a man. A sparrow warrior is the lowest mainly infantry. These guys hunted a Type B "Small friendly" creature as a children. These make up the majority of the island. A bear warrior is second lowest. They hunted a Type A "Big Friendly" creature as children. These guys make up the high officals and officers. A fox warrior are the generals of the army. They found Type D "small savage" creatures as children. The rarest of the army are the wold warriors which make less than 5% of the army. These make up the future chiefs are the tribes
Philosophy and beliefs: The people of this island are a tribal group. They are believe greatly in fate and ancestor worship. According to their customs a person ancestors determines what kind of destiny a person has. If a person comes from an honorable family then he himself is good person, and if a person comes from a coward then he himself must be evil. For this sole reason, they believe that pirates are evil and that the marines are good. They also believe in the way of a warrior training their children at a young age to survive on their own. They are judged at the age of 10 to survive an entire month on their in the wilderness. If they are meant to survive then fate when allow them to come back. At the age of 16 a boy considered a man. At the age of 13 a girl is considered a woman. Males and females alike are only allowed one mate for a lifetime, due their beliefs that fate will choose a suitable mate for them. All conflints are to be settled by a duel. They believe that fate would allow the person who is right to be the winner. They are also not fond of travelers since their people have been isolated for so long. On the first day of spring they would have a ten day festival celebrating their legendary hero Hakasam. Though they are largely traditional, the people are slowly modernizing by building a factory and even getting their warriors to join the marines.
Government: Each tribe is ruled by a chief that makes all the decisions of the tribe. Each chief can make up his own counsil which helps him make up his decisions. Though each chief can make up their own laws and customs All degrees are final by the head Chief who lives in the capital. If the head chief dies without an heir then the appointed which is choosen by the head chief before death will take over.
(two paragrpah minimum starts here) History: Tundra island was once a tropical island at first 1,000 years ago, but since the rapid movements of the earth's plates the island was actually moved to another location practically overnight. The tundrians had to adapt from their hot climate to this frozen tundra hence the name of the island. Unlike the present the tribes were not allied and often fought wars for the limited amount of useable land. Chief Hukasam, The Screamer, was the first head chief of the island. He united the sisters that were one separated. He taught them that if they could work together rather fighting that they could survive in their new home. Hukasam was the first to make it up Angel Bliss, and even sculped the city out of a large piece of ice to symbolizes the resolve and strength of the people. Hukasam was appointed head chief at the age of 22, which is the youngest ever recorded. He personally lead raids across far away island despite the iceburgs. When Hukasam and his men returned they were always victorious with food and other necessary things to ensure their survival which is how the festival got started. Hakasam soon died at the age of 24, but his idea of unity and strength would never be forgotten. 300 years later, they later joined the world government.

| Subject: Crossgate Island - James D. Cook Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:48 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: Crossgate Island Flag: World Government Location: Grandline
Ruler: The current ruler’s name is Lucius Dezaia. He is a World Government scientist charged with running the island and using it for his experiments. Lucius stands at a height of five feet and seven inches. He has a receding hair line and what hair remains around the back of his head is gray. His eyes are an electric blue. Lucius is not muscular at all. Both his arms and legs are thin and wiry. His everyday attire consists of a messy, white lab coat over a blue, button-up shirt, a pair of black pants, and whatever shoes he happens to grab from his closet. In short, he looks like a generic mad scientist, right down to the oddly colored stains on his lab coat.
Despite his weakling appearance, Lucius is no pushover. For an foremost in his arsenal, is his Kae-Kae no mi powers, which allows him to change one substance into another so long as neither substance is composed of cells. Secondly are the modifications he has made on his own body. He has made two major modifications. Lucius’s right arm is swathed in bandages and appears to be longer and bulkier than his other arm. The reason for this is quite simple. Lucius has surgically removed his arm and replaced it with the body of a snake. The snake is almost fully under his control, but due to its animalistic nature, he keeps it under the bandages for his own safety. The snake is about six feet in length, though it looks much shorter when under the bandages. The snake is powerful enough to crush enemies in its coils, but it also possesses a highly corrosive venom which it can spit at a target or release by biting into something. The second modification is that his entire body has taken on the aspects of green plants. For one thing, his skin has a slight, greenish tinge. For another, he can now absorb sunlight, water, and nutrients from soil he comes in contact with. This makes it so that he does not have to eat nearly as often, which gives him more time to perform his research..
Geography: Crossgate Island is technically not just one island, but five. In fact, it’s technically not even an island. The truth behind the matter is this: an underwater mountain was formed and split as it rose out of the water so that it came out in five different places. These five places take on the shape of a cross. (Actually the shape is closer to that of a plus sign, but nobody wanted to call it ‘Plusgate Island’.) The underwater mountain is no longer volcanic, though it was at one time. The five points are all at different levels of elevation and the four outer points are set almost perfectly in the directions of the North, East, West, and South Blues. The highest of the five is the middle one, which had to have steps cut into the rock so that people could climb to the top. It is over a fourth of a mile in height. The second highest is the part pointed towards the West Blue. It is set approximately two hundred feet above the ocean. Like the middle part, this one has steps cut into it so people can climb to the top. It does not have beaches. The last three parts all have beaches however, and their highest points can be reached simply be walking. The third highest is the part pointed towards the South Blue. Its highest point is one hundred and sixty-eight feet above the ocean. The fourth highest points towards the North Blue and its highest point is at one hundred and twenty-seven feet. The lowest part is also the flattest. This one points towards the East Blue and it gets only four feet above sea level, making it easily the smallest of the points. As such, when a storm comes through, this part gets flooded so very little lives here except a few plants.
Weather: Ultimately the weather on this island is tropical. It is normally sunny, but violent storms do take place from time to time. In summer it averages ninety degrees. In winter it averages sixty. Both autumn and spring fall in between those.
Population: The overall population is seven hundred and fifty-nine. The only ones who live here are humans. Fishman pass through at times since this island is close to the end of the Grandline, but none stay for long. Other sentient species don’t come here often since it is out of their way.
Wildlife: After the island was first formed, birds and plants found their way to it. Later, people arrived and settled on it, bringing with them even more animals. So for the most part, all that lives on the island are domestic animals of all kinds, rats, (which came over on ships) and birds. To be more specific, some of these animals are cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, rats, (as previously mentioned) and seagulls of all kinds.
Economy and production: The natural resources of the island include rich soil, volcanic rock, coconuts, and fish of course. This isn’t an overly profitable island, only making about 80,000,000 altogether each thread. As such, it is a good place for hiding things, which of course is what the World Government is using it for.
Defense: The fact that a couple parts of the island are so high off of the ground leads to this place having its own natural defense system. As long as people can’t climb up the walls, they can be kept out. Oddly enough, however, there is a very small Marine presence on the island. There is only a small garrison placed on the West Blue point of the island. The real defense of the island is on the middle part. At the very top of the middle part of the island is an old castle. It is there that Lucius Dezaia lives along with his monstrous creations. None of the other inhabitants of the island dare set foot there and it is forbidden to do so in any case. Military: This island does have an alternative defense force. As previously mentioned, Lucius makes monstrous creatures in his experiments. These creatures are allowed to wander the middle part of the island without interference. They will also, at times, go down to the lower points to deal with more dangerous threats, but since they are so unpredictable this doesn’t happen very often.
Philosophy and beliefs: This is no special beliefs or philosophies on this island. The islanders are free to believe what they want. Some of them have made up stories about the middle island and its monstrous inhabitants, but that is nothing new. Lucius himself does not believe in anything, he’s just so focused on the moment. Government: The government of the island is run like the World Government. Lucius can make minor adjustments, but he doesn’t. This mostly due to the fact that he doesn’t care, but partly because he likes the way the government is already. That’s why he joined them as a scientist.
History: The island was discovered many years before the World Government was even formed. People had for a long time come to the island, waited until their log pose reset, and then they moved on. No one even thought about settling there until a group of farmers, forced from their homes, happened across it and decided it would make a good spot to start over. The creation of a small government naturally followed, but it wasn’t until another twenty years had passed before things really began to pick up speed. Seeing that the islanders didn’t have an overbearing ruler, but rather were a simple group of farmers, other people began moving in on the island. As the years passed, the population grew at a steady pace. The government expanded and became more official. Stairs were cut into the point which faced the West Blue giving people somewhere else to live. In general, life went on.
Then there came the blank period. No one is quite sure what happened during that time. All they know is that the World Government was in power by the end of it.
The following era under the leadership of the World Government was one of peace. The population remained steady and actually decreased a little bit. Some point during the blank period stairs had been cut into the middle part of the island and a castle had been built. The coming of the age of pirates did little to change these people’s lifestyles. Pirates came to the island only to pass through it, meaning that the Marines didn’t need to defend it. Despite being near the end of the Grandline, Crossgate Island was on one of the least used paths of the Grandline. No one was interested in the place. No one, that is, except the World Government. They had a scientist named Lucius Dezaia, whose work they wanted to keep private. So they picked out Crossgate Island as a place for him to work. It was out of the way and the castle was unoccupied, making it the perfect location for their purposes. Since that time, little has changed except no one goes to the middle part of the island unless they have too.

| Subject: Garbodor Island - Maxulus Sat Jul 02, 2011 7:50 pm | |
| - Spoiler:
Name: Garbodor Island Flag: N/A Location: Grand Line
Ruler/Territory: N/A
Geography: Garbodor Island is an island in the second half of the Grand Line. However, unlike most of the other islands, Garbodor Island is rather unique because it is made of garbage. The island is in fact a garbage mountain that was thrown inside the sea and the top of it was so big that ressembled an island. As a result, people started treating as an island after a while and later officially declaired it as one. The island is big and is composed of islands. However, there are more things in the island than people can imagine. The rubbish mountain is very big and there are infinite secret and complex tunnels inside it. As a result, people can move through the tunnels and reach the bottom of the mountain that is twice the size as the original island. At the surface of the island, instead of trees there are some small cliffs of garbage and even rubbish that are standing on other rubbish that look like trees (Rubbish Trees), making it look like the island has plant life. Moreover, as there are infinite numbers of garbage kinds, each of the cliffs has a different look and the "Rubbish Trees" are all looking differently. Around the island the sea is toxic. The sea has taken a green color and the fish are all mutated if not dead. Anyone who falls in the sea around the island is poisoned, making it unable to swim even for people who have not eaten a Devil Fruit. The toxic sea makes things difficult because people cannot fish and so the only way they can get some food is to buy it from nearby islands. Weather: The weather of the island is very dangerous apparently. As the amounts of garbage are too much, there is always a toxic cloud above the island. The toxic island is covering the place most of the time, making the place look like its night. However, in some cases the sun's rays hit on the island's surface and as the amounts of garbage are way too much, a fire appears that engulfs the surface and turns it into a burning hell. Also, as the cloud above the island is toxic, whenever it is raining the people have to get to the bottom of the garbage mountain in order to avoid having a contact with the toxic rain. Whenever it is snowing at the area, the snow is purple because the poison cloud it comes out of the poisonous cloud. Due to the many rubbish the place has, the place is always hot. On the other side, the weather at the bottom of the mountain is different. The citizens have built a huge dome at the place and are creating artificial wind in order to cool the temperature. Also, there are torches everywhere that light the place so that there will be light at the place, making the place always shine and have a good breeze in most of the areas. Population: Apparently, the island is inhabited by people who used to be slaves and got abbandoned or by poor people who came to the island to search in other people's garbage to get them and start extracting them from places to places or exiled criminals or pirates. As a result, the island is full of people who came there for a better future and at the bottom of the garbage mountain, under a big dome, there is a city that has around five thousand people. There are no marine basements in the city because the activities on gathering the garbage are not legal and the Navy refuses to give protection to the people who live in there. Something notable is that there are no children on the island because it would be too dangerous for them to live there. Wildlife: Apparently, as the island was made by humans, it does not have wildlife. Economy and production: The main source of the island's economy is the island itself. The people of the island are constantly searching for garbages at the infinite tunnels of the garbage mountain in order to sell them to other places and make money. The funds from selling things that they find in the garbage are very big as they can find anything there very quickly, including rare things (and even Devil Fruits in rare occasions). However, the conditions of searching for rubbish are very bad and not many people can reach the places where there are many rubbish because they will die because of the toxicity around the place.
Defense: The island is a defenseless place as many of the citizens of the island are exiled criminals who came to the island to make a living by selling things they find in the garbage. The marines are not coming to this island because most of the activities on it are illegal. As a result, there is chaos in most of the places of the city and there are numerous gangs, most of them possessing many dangerous individuals who used to be former pirates. However, there is not chaos out of the dome in the city because it may cause big accidents to the island to the point that it can be easily destroyed (f.e. a fire) Military: N/A
Philosophy and beliefs: The island has no philosophy at all. There is only the belief that "Money makes the world go round" and as a result, people are willing to do anything to take a rare item and sell it for much. This leads to the people of the island beating each other to get an item, the creation of gangs and the many attacks that take place in the city every day. Other than that, there are no other beliefs nor philosophies at all as the people there are lacking of education and them because of their past (slaves, poor people, criminals) Government: There is no government in the Garbodor Island. There is only anarchy and anarchy. The people of the island are not forced to obey to laws and stuff like these and as a result, whenever somebody finds something very rare they attack him. That was what led at the creation of teams that are searching for items together, so that they will not be attacked. Moreover, as there are no laws, nobody is punished here for killing somebody. However, people avoid doing that, even the most vicious criminals, because if they do it they will be attacked by the majority of the other people on the island and share the same fate with their victims. However, almost everyone is beating up everyone.
(two paragrpah minimum starts here) History: Garbodor Island was originally a place in the sea where all of the garbages from the Grand Line ended. Over the course of the years, the place turned into a mountain of garbage that started from the bottom of the sea and ended up forming an island at the surface. Then, many people who noticed that started moving there, searching for items to start selling them to other places. As they were searching for more and more items, they started digging the tunnels of the island and after many years, an empty area was formed at the mountain's bottom where a dome was built. Inside the dome, afterwards, the people started forming a city in which people live up until now.

In the east of the island, the area is completely covered by a rain forest with only forgotten ruins coverd in vast amounts of trees and vines. Much of the island's wild life can be found there. It is also home to the Shandians who settled there long before. This land is called Lashandruna. Archaeology is a big business there since valuable artifacts can found in the forgotten tombs of the past. There is also rumored to be a rio poneglyph hidden there. Only an large Oasis located in center of the city keeps thar part of the island habitable for the citizens. In the north is a large desert which no one goes to.
Weather: Rakuen island is a summer climate island which means its largely dry and humid. Despite it being very hot, the island gets lots of rain fall about 200 inches every year. The temperature can rise from 80 to 110 degrees fahrenheit rarely reaching below 77. There is also the threat of sandstorms during the dry season. During the summer, there is a high risk of hurrincanes due to the humid nature of the island.

As a result lots of business come here to set up shop from restaurants to dance clubs. The two most profitable form of businesses is fishing and gambling. There is a large amount of fish in these waters due to its warm climate causing them to breed. Gambling is completely legal here, so a large chain of casinos could be found here. It general gross 400,000,000 beli monthly.
Defense: There is a marine base watching over the island with a marine captain commanding over 60 marine soldiers and four battleships
Military: Marines
Philosophy and beliefs: There is very diverse beliefs among the natives on this island. The people are pretty much carefree thinking that they are untouchable. Most of them are snobby and generally looking down upon non-human species even showing predice against some of them. They are generally friendly to outsiders and welcome to their island, but this could be just a ploy to get their money. They are also very competitive since most of their income comes from business. It is not uncommon for them to even drag people to their stores. The Shandians are hostile against any outsiders and are known to fight at the first chance of trespassing into their lands. They value their lands as precious as gold. They would die to protect their ruins believing that they are scared to their ancestry. Their most scared animal is the giant python which they brought back from Jaya and the south bird.
Government: The island is technically under rule of the world government, but the citizens are governd by King Token, new king of Utopia island.
(two paragrpah minimum starts here) History: It is recorded in the hieroglyphics of the ancient ruins of the east that the Shandians settled on this island first centuries ago. They first settled here to make a new tribe due to their almost being wiped out in Jaya by the world government during the void century. In hopes of creating a new life Chief Toga claimed this land to thier new home called Lashandruna. The Shandians first had problems adapting to their life here. There were plenty of dangerous wild life already living here, and they weren't use to the hot climate. Since it rained alot there, most of their crops drowned. It took them awhile but eventually they were able to map out the seasons and climate of the island. They even brought some of animals from their old homeland, Jaya, to cultivate in this new land resulting in the native south birds and giant pythons. After a few centuries the Shandians had the biggest empire on Lashandrua. Then a group of settlers docked on the island. They were actually adventurers and scouts searching a new island to colonize for the noble Julian Christopher who was looking for a new home. Since this island was not apart of the world government, or any other existing country the settlers claimed this land in the name of world government. Nothing seemed special about the island at first. At first glance it seemed like an ordinary summer island completely densed in rain forests. Nothing that a world noble would want. Then they discovered the local hot spirngs. They immediately sent the news to their noble master who was excited to find such a discovery. Julian Christopher immediately funded the colonization project for the island. The settlers began chopping down the rain forests in the west to make way for the future Utopia Kingdom. The Shandians believed that vearth was more valuable than gold, so needless to say they were angry at the settlers. At first the Shandians tried to tolarate the new settlers, but when they found out that they were after their hot springs things turned violent. These hot springs were sacred to them. They were used as healing treatment for the sick and elder. Just a few moments in those hot springs could rejuvenate the body, and even had some healing properties. They could not allow the settlers to just take it. A long series of raids appeared along the settlement by the Shandians. They shot arrows to scare the settlers out of their forests, they seiged their food storages and water, and stole their axes and saws to cease production. Though they did to sabotage acts, the shandians never took a life. When Julian Christopher discovered this he ordered that the marines intervene. When the marines battle ships came, it marked the end for the Shandian empire. Due to their military force and superior fire power, the marine lead a campaign to exterminate the Shandians. At first they blasted the shore line cities with the battleships to drive them into the forests. Then once they cut off from escape the marine ships set up a blockade around the island to make that they don't escape. Then it was a simple task of burning down their towns one by one. The Shandians tried to fight back, and the war lasted for five years. The only problem is that the marines were better organized, better equiped, and had better weapons. Soon their empire was nothing more than a few empty ruins, and screams with no one to hear them. Chief Su, leader of the Shandians had to choose between either watching his people go extinct or surrendering thier lands. Chief Su surrendered all rights of the land to the west to the world government, while the shandians kept their lands to the east. They lost their hot springs and half the island, but at least their race would survive. Saint Christopher the second, was established as king of the new Utopia kingdom. It wasn't a surprise that slavery became a booming industry there bringing in all kinds of inhabitants. The most were fishmen. When Julian Christopher died he had no children leaving the throne to one of his noble relatives Basil Christopher. The world government finally bans slavery freeing all the slaves on the island. Ten years, The new king, Token, has taken the throne. He has been making efforts to appease the shandians, but their ears for peace have gone silent.

Name: Hirou Island Flag: Trident going through a solid gold crown. 4 Gems in each corner; Ruby (Top Left), Saphirre (Bottom Left), Emerald (Top Right), Black Onyx (Bottom Right). The background is completely white. Location: South Blue Ruler/Territory: King Jiko Qyrien Geography: The island itself is shape much like a plant-cell, being much like a stretched hexagon. The island is surrounded by a large mountain range, covering all but the south side of the island. Within the mountain range, at the most northern point, is the fabaled Mount Etoi. This mountain is the largest of the mountain, also acting as a beacon for sailors, or pirates. The peak of the mountain cannot be seen due to clouds obsurcing it. The island gradually grows in altitude the further north you get, with one point at the tallest point of the land being a larger hill. Around the mountainous areas of the island, in the sea there is a coral reef close to the surface of the water, yet stop at the western and eastern-most points of the island. These reefs stay close to the island, making it unlikely that ships will be harmed by them. The places that are not the beach, mountain area or the small settlement of Humans, is a dense jungle. In the mountainous areas, closer to the bases than the top, IQ are found but are kept clear of due to many rumours around the town about it being as close to the Devil as Devil Fruits are. Weather: The weather on Hirou Island is rather warm when not in the mountain range. The hottest point on the island is the Fortress, which resides ontop of the hill and can reach the temperature of 35C during midday. The highest recorded temperature for the island was 40C. The lowest point usually is around 15C at night. In the winter, the temperature can reach as high as 25C, and usually drops to about 5C at night. In the mountain range, due to the high altitude, the temperature is much colder, reaching to an average of 0C in the summer at night. In the winter, the mountain range is much colder, seemingly uninhabitable, having an average of -10C. In the centre of the island, is it rarely windy due to the large mountain range around the island. The only wind comes from the south. The most common type of weather in Hirou Island is either the island being sunny or rainy. The rain can last for an extremely long time, being one or two days without stopping, but is not extremely heavy. The sun itself can glare on the island and creates extremely warm summers but keeps the island at a more reasonable level in the winter. Population: Hirou Island has a vairety of different races that are natural to it. When the humans moved to Hirou Island, at first they found nothing but soon came across two tribes in the jungle. These two tribes are the Longarms and Longlegs. Ever since the humans moved here, the two tribes have been constantly fighting each other. It is unknown why this has come to be. For a long time, the Humans thought that it was only them and the Longones but after exploring the island more, the Humans managed to find a gaping enterance in the base of Mount Etoi. In this mountain lived the Dwarves, who seemed to be solitary beings. The humans left these people alone. Though the only races are the Humans, Dwarves and the Longones, the island does have the necassary materials to harbor Cyborgs, though only one has been created as of late. Wildlife: The island has a large range of animals, most of them not being too dangerous. The most seen of animals to the Humans is the Super Sparrow who resides in the mountain range of the island. This species is most seen as it can be seen flying over the single town several times in a day. The Super Sparrow is not the only bird that lives on Hirou Island though, there is also the South Bird and the North Bird. The South Bird was natural to the islands but the North Bird was brought there by Humans who voyaged to settle on this new island. After many generations, the North and South Bird have interbred to create the Eastern and Western Birds, but this is rare. All of these birds are found in the Jungle. Though both of these Animals are relatively kind towards the inhabitants, the Island does have rather aggressive animals on the island too. These animals are the Wild Panthers and Wild Boar. Though they are not overly seen as they tend to keep away from the Human Settlement, they are usually found in large clusters. The weirdest creature to be found on the island is the live Den-Dens (Den Den Mushi without phone attatched). These stay closer to the Human Settlement, most likely as a way to find a safe area in which no dangerous animals are found. Economy and production: The Island's main production is that of wood, as it is all around the Human Settlement and for a large, expansive area, though this is still strangly the least profitable. The Island also has several different methods of producing income, the second best option being the Slaves that go from the Island. During it's recent years, Hirou Island has chosen to capture people from the Dwarves, Longleg or Longarm Tribes and began to sell them. These are not sold on Hirou Island but are, infact, shipped off to another island to be sold. Most of the Dwarf population have been kept by order of the current King and are kept to mine the underneath of the Mountain range for any Gems or Minerals. These Gems and Minerals are also shipped out aswell but some are kept for the Island Inhabitants. The final way that the Island makes an Income is that they attach the electrical equipment to the Den-Dens and send them out. There is currently only one man on the Island that can do this. Beli per thread to ruler:
- Wood = 10,000
- Dwarf Slave (One per Thread) = 700,000
- Longarm Slave (One per Thread) = 700,000
- Longleg Slave (One Per Thread) = 700,000
- Gems/Minerals = 250,000
- Den-Den Mushis = 10,000
- Total = 2,370,000 Beli per Thread
Defense: The only natural defence of the Island is the ring of Mountain Range which covers the North, East and West. This can stop the island being viewed by a passing ship and can even stop cannons from firing upon the island. The unnatural defence, being the guards, is that of the Marines which followed Captain Jiko Qyrien while he was still a Marine. These guards are mearly the Recruits which followed the Captain and as such, the Captain believes that these people are mere people that can be thrown away. The guards watch the town and the beach for new people. The Military is also used for defence for serious issues. Military: The Elites of the Marines that followed Jiko Qyrien became intergrated into the establishing Military, when Jiko became King. Before the Marines arrived, the military did not exist and few people had training with any sort of weapon. Afterwards, all men now have training with weapons and some females do aswell, but these numbers are not as great as the number of men. The leaders of this army are the two Lieutenants that joined Jiko and below them are the two Ensigns. The two Lieutenants are Senso Karo and Heiwa Giachi. Senso runs Division One with one Ensign under him and Heiwa runs Division Two with another Ensign under her. Division One's main task is to capture any Longarms or Longlegs to be sold to Slavery and Division Two's main objective is to watch the Dwarves and make sure nothing bad happens to them. Philosophy and beliefs: Hirou Island has a vast range of beliefs and philosophies, differing from person to person, within the Human Society. The most common belief with the Humans, at the beggining of the Age of Oppresion, is that at the peak of Mount Etoi lives two White Snakes wrapped around it. It is said that when these snakes descend towards Hirou Island, the Age of Oppresion will end and with the snakes guarding them, the Age of Liberty will begin. The Dwarves believe that they were created from the exact gems that they are now forced to mine. God imbued them with souls and tasked them with guarding Mount Etoi, which the Dwarves believe have God at the top of this. Eventually, thinking that they could not protect the Mountain by just standing outside it, the Dwarves dug into the Moutain and found a lucious bounty of Gems and Minerals. The Dwarves began to imbue themselves with this new find, making themselves stronger and larger. God became angry and cursed those who had not imbued themselves with more power to flesh and those that had lost their souls, making them mindless servants of the fleshed ones. It is rumoured, by Humans, that if you venture deep enough into the bowels of Mount Etoi, you can find the "Golems" unactivated and with the right phrase, reactiviate it and make it your slave for eternity. Both the Longlegs and the Longarms have the same belief system. They believe that they were once one being. This being was the most dangerous to all mankind but due to it's own power, fractured into three parts. These parts were reborn into the first Longlegs and the first Longarms, and it's soul ascended to the Heavens to watch all of living creation. They held peace for several decades before the leaders began to bicker over which of the two races born of the Original were favoured. This did not take on a full scale war, but it was only when the Leaders started physically fighting that the rest ofthe tribes did too. It is rumoured between both of the tribes that the Leaders of today are still the leaders that were spawned from the Original and that if both of the Leaders died, the Original would see this and take both of their bodies and create his own wordly body again, to walk among them. Government: The Humans are ruled by one man, Jiko Qyrien, who resides in a large, lucious castle on top of the large hill at the highest point of the island. Jiko likes to believe that all of his subordinates love hime as King, but in reality, he is nothing more than a Tyrant that is hated by the residents of the Island and even some of the Marines that joined him to free the island. The Longarm/Longleg tribes both have Spiritual Leaders which are the most wise of all of them. These leaders are always at each-others throat, trying to kill the other off in some way or another so that his own tribe may be forever loved by the Original. The Dwarves have a leader known as a "Gem Holder", due to their ability to hold a Gem within their hands without being hated by God. The leader and a small group of Dwarves managed to escape from Mount Etoi as the Marines came in to enslave them for digging up gems. History: 'The Founding of Hirou Island'Hirou Island was discovered just over 100 years ago by a group of explorers from another Island in the South Blue. These people were mere settlers, looking for new land to raise a family on and to have a nice lovely life. This man helped everyone set up their homes and land, creating a new peaceful land. This man was appointed the leader by the people. But as everything seemed fine, a large roar of battle was heard deep within the Jungle. As a group of people walked out into the Jungle following the leader, they stumble across two hellish beings; the Longones. These beings seemed to come in two different varieties; The Longarms and the Longlegs. Both varieties seemed to be within their own team, trying to win a large scale war against the other. As the Humans walked away, Panthers began to attack both tribes. This Island seemed a whole lot worse as of that day. 'The beginning of the Great Age of Oppression'The leader soon became pampered by the feeling of royalty. The town people built him a castle, even though it was against his wishes and he had the whole place to himself and his family. Soon though, the Leader died of illness and the Island's only doctor could not cure him. He died of his illness and left his son, who was eighteen years of age, the throne. The child grew quickly accustom to the lifestyle of the leader and changed his Title to "King", making it official that he was the sole ruler of Hirou Island. After one or two decades, the son managed to have his own family which now lived in the castle with him. The King slowly grew absorbed in his own power lust and became the first tyranical ruler towards the residents of Hirou Island. Thus starting the second name of Hirou Island; The Island of Oppresion. 'Catch up to Recent Times'When the Great Massacre took place, the King was among those who died, being a feeble old man now. The pirates took over the King's castle and took it as their base. Their Oppression did not last long though, as the Marines came to their aid and sent them away. Though, after this, the Marines stayed and their Captain became power hungry like that of the late king. He too proclaimed himself king and became the second Tyrant to live on Island. This "king" was the one who found the Dwarves thanks to his Marines scouting the Island and captured them, forcing them to dig up their Gems so that the "king" could sell them. The Dwarves constantly cry as they dig up the gems, knowing that they are angering their god but are helpless to stop it. Due to the crying, the locals have named the cavern at the base of Mount Etoi, the Wailing Cavern. The marines continued, rounding up alone Longlegs or Longarms, passing them onto a boat to be sold on another Island. The King abused his power, taking anything and everything that he wanted and believing it was his right to do so.

Defense: (A Large fortification is built at the top of the cliffs on the north side of the island overlooking the islands coasts in all directions, This serves as a base for the Redbeard Pirates who have taken the island as their own and guard it fiercely protecting both the islands people and the pearl and wine trade from the island ) Military: (Local militia but they Depend heavily on “Niirohige” and his men for major threats)
Philosophy and beliefs: A veritable melting pot of cultures and beliefs everything from island deities to the established faiths of normal society. Government: Local provincial government led by a Governor/Redbeard crew. After arriving on the island “Niirohige” first won over the residents with his gold and goods then invested much of his fortune made in previous years in establishing Forge Island as a legitimate trading post.
History: (Traveling looking for a place to call their own the residents of this island settled there 200 years ago taking refuge, for their melting pot of cultures and beliefs. The colony of Forge Island was established and began to trade with passersby. Over the years fewer and fewer people came to the island as the Grand Line became more and more dangerous. The people of Forge Island though attempting to keep their civilization all the while became almost fully dependent on their natural resources pearls being in large supply these were the major exports bartered to the few passing ships for supplies. Finally the island was discovered by the Redbeard Pirates who settled it as their base rebuilding and restoring the massive fortress at the base of the cliffs.)

Have several hills some mountain a small fresh water several ponds and large diamond mine, and lumber mills. The island look like a large marine warship with several large water source this island is pretty good but about 5 mile out the island large mist cover the entire island so people can't see it only a few people know about this place. this island cover about 30 miles in each direction just about. Weather: Average mild, and tropical weather condition other then the mist that cover the island for people who attempt to raid this area they would find it hard to see an target in this mist until they pass the mist area. This is a good island to stay at the weather never bad, and it good calm climate make it a perfect place to stay at for your vacation. This weather of this island is so cool, and mild if it was famous many people would come but since it classified not many know about this island climate.
Population:1,100,100(Marines strong hold/half marine half citizen)
Wildlife: Panda Shark,Tigers,Wild boars,Roc, New Cocs, and another earthly creatures. This creature live in the sea or on the island these creature are most hostile depends on what is going on. Some of the wild life in this island is somewhat hostile they tend to attack anything that come they way that offend them. This wild life is pretty large a lot of sea creature the land animal is about the size of regular animal but like twice it size making them very hostile at time due to the limited food supplies on the island.
Economy and production: Lumber, diamonds, stone, fresh water, wild animals. Standard island income. this island is average there money and trading supplies are basic they all come for the marine. This island try to stop most detail about it escape this island is classified only a selected few know about which is why they used the mist to cover it. They produce lumber the most because it so easy to be found on this island they also reproduce the tree's in the forest so the tree can group base. They have a hunting season where they kill as many animals they can then allow them to reproduce in the spring time.
Defense:G-6 branch Marines island known as the Pink Marine base, A tall 200 foot wall along with there are several cannons along the wall of the structure. This place is made out of steel with the WG flag along the base along with pink outline along this building. Behind the wall is a average marine structure that is as big marine ford it wall of this place also circle around it. This base is the some what copy of the marine ford but the only different is it some what pink ,and they don't take heed to pirate attacking them they kill ants with sledge hammer in other words.
Military: WG
Philosophy and beliefs: freedom of belief the same as philosophy too. They have a freedom to talk about things they don't like they have the freedom of speech to talk about anything public. Some time when the military not running them correctly they would subject to a riot or march which allow the government to understand what need to challenge the government powers or laws.
Government: The Marines are the World Government's military sea force, tasked with law enforcement, international security and military operations. The Marines are one of the three great powers, alongside the Shichibukai and the Yonko. They are present in all the seas around the world, as evidenced by their branch offices. The focus of the plurality of their assets is on the far more dangerous Grand Line, as their main headquarters, Marineford, is located there.
History: The natives that lived there before the marines arrived were under-developed that is why the marines moved in, and calm it as a base. They changed the name, and increase the wealth of this island to average. This is the headquarters of the North blue area which the Sea Admiral Rafu currently in control of the watch over this island, and it location of this base is hidden due to it thick fog/mist. No one know much about this island other then it a peaceful island and a marine strong hold where a good amount of marines trained at thus is why it kept a secret so no pirates would attempt to attack such a place thus only top official with the rank rear admiral or above know of this place any who under is classified.

| - Maltivia:
Name: Maltivia Flag:Open arms with one closed fist and the other hand open. Location: NW Ruler/Territory:Jiro Ohana (the public face) Jack Ohana (the real leader) (Npcs) (Four line minimum starts here) Geography: Maltivia is composed of one medium sized island with three tiny island flanking it. It is very hilly with nearly all of the country being developed. The ground is paved in stone. The buildings look uninviting and dirty. The only buildings that differ from one another are the Ohana’s building and the Zoo. Weather: (weather conditions and climate, include the biome) Population: (include species if applicable) Wildlife:[u[ Bear rats[/u] large rats 1-2.5 ft with a body fitting it height. These animals have strong flexible tails that can pierce flesh with tips of their tails. Armored roach- 3x as big as normal roaches they are plated in special rare metal that is resistant to most energy. Stumping on these roaches will not work. They reproduces fast Goadile- A goat and crocodile variant that can swim but prefers the land. Their stomachs and chest are green and scale but the rest of the body is covered in hydrophobic fur that can be a variety of colors, light blue being the most rare and dangerous of the breed. They are mostly violent animals when trained they can pull large loads, defend/guard an area. They boast great speed, agility, and biting power that would let them chew rocks like bread. (They can also digest this) They vary in size from that of medium dog (average) to that of a horse (rare). There fur reacts to the barriers used on the island. They don’t like going within 4ft of the invisible barriers used. Searagon- These birds are considered the sea monsters of the air. They are large in size and feed on sea monster meet. They are problematic trouble makers. They are very intelligent and although capable of fishing and diving for food they will often habitat around fishing spots and attempt to steal fish. They are so much trouble that fishermen have to higher muscle to handle them. They are slightly smaller than sea monsters (not kings) There feather colors change to match the sky. The look like roosters with large wing spans and long legs that have sharp talons that are customary with birds of prey. Their beaks are large and hooked to rip flesh. Economy and production: This country gets income from tourism of it’s zoo and its exports. It is harbor/trade town. Its goods are sold on the island and shipped elsewhere to be sold. They also export ships. It is is illegal for Goadile to be exported. They produce items made from Goadlile and Armored roach. Visotor come to see the countries Zoo featuring animals from all over the world. They also feature animals that are rare and nearly extinct. The Ohana’s can be hired to hunt and capture beast because their services are sold to the world nobles some of their illegal trades have gone overlooked. This is a private collection belonging to Jack Ohana that the public doesn’t know of this. But Jack will invite guest in his circle to see them. Defense: There are towers located on three sides of the island. It tower features a team. This team looks at the sea approaching the island, the coastal waters, and the docks themselves. They each have a transponder snail, surveillance snail, video monitors. They can see what is happening at other towers at all times and can selectively switch to cameras located within town. Each tower has five ships meant for battle. The Zoo and Ohana compound are surrounded by an invisible fence that is solid (no holes) and 30ft high on the inside spread at max distance of 3ft away from fence are land mines. So if you make it over the fence you risk land on a land mine. Military: They have two sets of military force. The police force identifiable by their red uniforms. Each caries a tranquilizer gun and normal gun, and a nightstick that has a built in Taser. They are spread across town and the docks. They also check shipments and interview the people who come to the island pirates included. The normal police force is strong enough to deal with most rookie crews, except maybe the captain The other military is force is the actual military reporting directly to Jack, but will listen to Jiro in public when in doesn’t conflict with Jiro. They don’t all wear uniforms and are sprinkled into the normal police force 1:15 ratio. Their main role is to guard the docks and Ohana Compound. They are in great number around the fishery and the ??? it is members of this force that guard the fishermen. The only thing that can be confirmed about ??? area is that it is the location of the militaries HQ and is off limits to the public. The island owns 20 ships meant for battle total. Philosophy and beliefs: Inhibited business let money be made and goods be exchanged. Government: On the surface Maltivia is democratic having elected Jiro governor and every few years holding an election largely for show. The Marines are familiar with illegal trade on the island but they don’t fully grasp its extent. The reason they have not acted Is because the World Government trades with Maltivia. In reality Jack makes decisions and rules with military force. History: (include discovery, founding, any wars and segnificant events). Maltivia has always been a place of trade but they used have heavy problem with pirates attacking and stealing from their harbors and ships The marines were of little help and deterrence. Even when they would step in the goods taken were either destroyed or not properly redistributed. Ten years ago a large military force with large animals invaded Maltivia and for three days and nights attack the island taking on marines and the cities police force. On the third day the Ohana’s arrived with the force now that is now the islands military. What the public doesn’t know all forces involved were hired through an individual who trains combat forces that can be purchased or rented The animals that were subdued by Jack were all animals that he previously caught and raised. Most of which are in his private collection. The public thinks they were killed as a result of there vote to kill certain animals that caused the most loss of life. The Ohana brothers were claimed as heroes and were offered homes on the island. Over the next few years they would help rebuild the town. Jiro also influenced change in policy and suggest the towers put on the small island that border the main island. He also suggested formalized training of the police that led to their increase strength. It was these suggestion that led to him becoming governor. After Jiro became governor Jack used his influence to start smuggling illegal goods and he issued the order to build the customized compound and what’s behind it.
