History: Augustus has worked with ships since he was a young boy. Born on a small island in the grand line, his family made a living off of repairing and building ships. It didn’t matter who they made them for, or why they did, they did it because they loved it. Ship-building was an art. Some might say it was even in the Schmidt family blood.
When he was in his late thirties, Augustus’ father died, leaving him to uphold the family business. Sadly, Augustus never married, but he was still happy with his trade. He also took great joy in the rare occasions he was commissioned to make figureheads for certain ships. Augustus was rather artistic in his talent. Artistic as well as industrial. He also worked on mechanical ships that ran on coal or other such fuels. In his day, he was probably one of the most talented shipwrights in the world.
As he reached his mid-fifties, business slowed down but that was alright with Augustus. One day two young men came with a proposition: to build the most grand galleon anyone had ever seen. With no one to inherit the family business when he died, he figured then was a good a time as any to close up shop and leave to fulfill his dream. Those two young men were Adrienne J.S. Edwards and Nova Erikson. The ship he built was called the Ethereal and it became the home of the original Midnight Marauder crew and Edwards’ four children. Augustus has been maintaining his great creation ever since.
Personality: Augustus was rather introverted when he was younger. He didn’t like dealing with people and spent a lot of time alone. Later he was more or less forced to interact with people, but he didn’t get along well with most. He doesn’t exactly have any filters, so he is very frank and abrasive about everything. He isn’t afraid to voice his opinion and is typically quite loud about it.
