The Servants of Kuri-Dah
Weapon Name: The Artesan [Shokunin: 職人]
Description: The Artesan is a man, with a fairly thick neck and very short hair. The stone he is made of his colored dark gray, like his fellow Servants. The Artesan is crafted in the shape of a muscular craftsman, with a broad bracelet around each wrist. The Artesan has a very short-sleeved shirt, a design-less kilt that reaches above his knees, and leather-looking strap sandals on his feet.
Weapon Special Abilities: Sentient: The Artesan was brought to life with the powers of the
Seisoku Seisoku no Mii, allowing him to move freely, like any normal human. The Artesan has a very suppressed and submissive personality, taking orders with very little resistance, if any. He really wants to ensure his fellow Servants survive for the rest of eternity, as he had already seen several Servants be destroyed in the wars waged by Kuri-Dah. He moves ponderously slow unless threatened, and is often the spokes-statue for the Servants. The Artesan can't
stand his works being insulted, and will lash out with his fists if provoked.
Durability: The stone the Artesan is made of is very durable, able to take normal swords, gunshots, and even minor explosions with little to no damage.
Craftsmanship: True to his name, the Artesan is a master craftsman, capable of repairing himself and his fellow Servants from practically any state of disrepair, sans obviously impossible states, such as if one Servant has been ground to powder. The Artesan is also very skillful in blacksmithing and carving, as well as planning buildings and other constructs.
History: The Artesan was made for Emperor Seifuku-sha, and animated by Minister Daijin. The Artesan was assigned to craft new statues for Minister Daijin, and he complied. He first crafted the Corsair, creating the Month of the Corsair. Over the next month, the Artesan received a lot of assistance from the Corsair, and he grew to love his creation intensely. The Corsair was an intelligent sea captain, leading Seifuku's ships in wars against other naval powers. In less than a week after his crafting, the Corsair had left the Artesan's care and led Seifuku's ships against a neighboring country, crushing their navy in three days. The Artesan grew worried about the Corsair's recklessness, but it seemed that his fears were unfounded: the Corsair was able to create crazy plans, and actually have them work. The next month, the Artesan created the Swordsman, who led Seifuku's armies on land. The Swordsman was a stoic warrior, striking down enemies and frequently receiving large amounts of damage. Though it was necessary for the Artesan to repeatedly fix the Swordsman, he was still able to complete the next Servant, the Cannoneer. The Cannoneer was assigned to aid the Corsair, providing some excellent cover fire for the Swordsman from the seas.
The next Servant created was the Brigand, who was used in raids on enemy armies, and his presence served to set enemies on edge and weaken their ability to fight effectively. The Swordsman was almost destroyed in a battle in the Month of the Brigand, so the Master was made rather hastily. The Master was a proxy leader for the armies when the Swordsman was too damaged to fight. In the Month of the Master, Seifuku realized that his Servants were growing too expansive to have them all lying around the place. He ordered for a special weapon to be created to hold his Servants. It was when the Artesan created the Craftsman that it became possible for this to happen. The Craftsman created weapons for Seifuku, and also created a masterful clockwork calendar inside the recently-created Font. The next Servant that the Artesan made was the Assassin, who was sent into the enemy encampments to murder their leaders. The Assassin proved extremely good at his job... until the month when the next Servant, the Lancer, was made. The Lancer supported the main army with horsemen, but it wasn't enough to save the Craftsman and the Assassin.
The battle that had taken place was on the side of a mountain, where the Craftsman had created a large cannon. The Assassin was assigned to defend it, though a misfire resulted in the cannon exploding, causing a rockslide that buried the remains of the Craftsman and Assassin. The misfire was not the Craftsman's fault: an enemy soldier had sabotaged the cannon, catching the two Servants by surprise. Their demise barely affected Seifuku, but it had a drastic effect on the Artesan. The Artesan turned sour and bitter to everyone, even the Corsair. The loss of his creations led him to create the forceful Taskmaster, and his sour feelings rubbed off on the Taskmaster. The Taskmaster led the work force, and was considered the biggest hardass in existance. The next month, the loss of the Assassin and Craftsmaster had worn off, and the Emissary was created. The Emissary was sent to fool intended targets into believing they were safe. Tragically, the Emissary was destroyed on the fourth mission, two weeks after his carving. The Emissary's tactics had not gone unnoticed, and his lack of creativity led to his downfall and destruction.
As it went, the Emissary's first and last failure resulted in more than his own destruction. The Master and Brigand, believing that the Emissary was once again successful, planned a surprise attack. Their enemies were waiting for them. The Brigand and Master fell, destroyed by misinformation and deception. The loss of three of his creations forced the Artesan to try to take out his energy on something else, and that something else was the underhanded Archer. Just before the Archer was finally animated, the last loss would reach the Artesan's ears: the Corsair and Cannoneer had been overwhelmed in battle, a cannonball blasting the Cannoneer apart, and the resulting sinking ship led to the Corsair falling to the bottom of the ocean. It was too much for the Artesan: the Artesan lost all his drive for creation, unable to create another Servant for Seifuku. One month after the Archer's creation, Seifuku sealed the Artesan and the other Servants inside the Font. They have been inside for the past two and a half centuries. Over that time, the Artesan has created golden statues of each Servant, arranging them around the Craftsman's clockwork calendar-clock. He has also been carving an expansive, complicated, and intricate living space into the inside of the Font. His sorrow has be replaced with quiet acceptance. He has also lost of his feeling of purpose, leading to his slow movement.
