Do You Have What it Takes to be a Midnight Marauder?

"Unfortunately..Bradley's smart, but he's gullible as well..If that makes any sense. He's a good kid, trust me. I don't suppose there's anything I can do to fix his little anger management session?"

Ranyx almost made a very perverted statement, then almost made a very unkind request. He did neither. He plopped himself down on the deck of the ship, and checked his messenger bag. "I can't speak for my captain, but you can try giving some money to the people Bradley just deprived property from," Ranyx said, ensureing everything was in there. He took out seemingly random things: two shirts, some pants, a bracelet, a wooden rabbit figurine, and then a necklace. He put everything away but the rabbit, then he sniffled. He turned his back to everyone else, then hunched over, reverting to his forty year old form.

Gareth raised an eyebrow at Ranyx then rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, we're outa cash. Dingus over here blew it all on our ship."

Ranyx didn't reply, he was too busy looking over the little statuette. He didn't want to talk to anyone... his sadness and memories coming back to him.

Letting out a small frustrated growl, Oceana whipped out her purse and began flipping through it. Pulling out a stack of paper currency, she placed it in Gareth's hand.

"Listen, here's ten thousand Beri to help with repairs. Just make sure you use it wisely and keep him out of trouble." she said gesturing to Bradley. Meanwhile, Nova glanced down at Ranyx and frowned.

"Something wrong Ranyx?"

((Sorry for Ranyx being epically wierd right now, he's remembering something regarding the statuette... if you wanna know, ask Ranyx to tell you.))

Ranyx was sitting in an almost fetal position. "I-I'm fine... Just... I don't think I should have..." Ranyx replied, before falling silent and thrusting the statuette into his chest and doubling over. He was literally crying.

Nova wasn't quite sure what to do about the crying man at his feet. Tugging at his collar uncomfortably he hollered for Oceana's presence. Giving her final regards to Bradley and Gareth, she dashed back and saw Ranyx's crumple form, shaking with effort as he tried to repress his tears. Oh dear, this can't be good. she thought to herself, as she wrapped as much of her petite arms around him as possible.

"Oh Ranyx, what's the matter?" she queried in a maternal tone, "Tell me what's wrong."

"Um... can we go somewhere else?" Ranyx said, uncomfortable with all these people around. He got up, grabbed his bag and statuette, and ran down into the ship. After Oceana followed him, he said, "I was checking to make sure I had all my things in my bag, and then I found this in the bottom." He held out the statuette for Oceana to see. It was beautifully carved, a perfect image of a rabbit hunched down. "My first fiancee made it for me, long, long ago. I miss him so... every time I see it I remember him, everything about him... the day he gave me this, the day we met, and especially the day he died..." Ranyx began crying again, but not as violently as he would if he was by himself.

Giving a surprised blink, Oceana couldn't really think of what else to do. Memories of her father came to mind and she suddenly felt Ranyx's pain. Her father had been the most important person in her life and she was so devastated when she learned of his death. So much that she did something so unspeakable, the mere memory horrified her still. Feeling her own tears well up in her eyes, she took Ranyx into her arms and let him cry into her shoulder as she fought back her own.

Feeling the uncontrollable urge to speak, possessed only by the distraught, Ranyx continued talking, even if Oceana no longer cared. "He was so nice... and sweet... I wish I could have protected him..."

Pinching her face into a pained expression, a single tear escaped and rolled down her face. That's exactly how she felt. It hadn't even been a year since then either. The still open wound tore furiously at her heart and she held her newest crewmate tighter as her breath shuddered.

"Sometimes... there's nothing you can do." she said, voice quivering.

"Thank you, ma'am... thank you so much..." Ranyx said, slowly calming down. "You're right. Still, I suppose I avenged him..."

Holding back tears became even harder than ever when it came to avenging. Inhaling sharply, she tried to regulate her breathing.

"Vengeance must be sweet, yes?"

"I didn't enjoy it, but... sort of, yes," Ranyx answered.

Finally able to control her tears, Oceana's expression became very dark. Looking down at the floor, she debated internally with herself fiercely before she spoke again.

"I just know that when I get my hands on the scum that murdered my father, vengeance shall be sweet in mine eyes." she said bitterly.

"If you end up needing it, I will help you," Ranyx said, getting up. He gripped the rabbit. "Kial would want me to help..."

Giving Ranyx a hopeful grin, she clapped him on the shoulder and led him back out onto the deck, where the action was.

"I'll accept your help most graciously." she said with a smile.

Ranyx gave Oceana a quick thankyou hug before they reached the deck. "Sorry, I just break down when I think about Kial... I'm better now."

"Good, but if you tell anyone that I nearly broke down, I'll slit your throat in your sleep." Oceana said with a wry grin, elbowing him in the ribs jokingly. Nova, turned to see them and gave them a strange look. Shrugging, Oceana smiled as if nothing had happened.

Ranyx chuckled and replied, "Don't worry, my lips are sealed. And it would be such a waste for me to die after all these years..." He reverted to his thirty year old form.

Bradley slowly began to come to, and Gareth stood watching him, ready to strike should Bradley go berserk again

[Bradley] "Oh man...Where am I?...Ugh, my head.."

"You're on your ship, young'un. You almost got you butt handed to you, but your friend saved ya," Gael replied, wiping the last tear from his spaz off his face.

"Hmm?"

Bradley looked around, not recogizing the town, or the people around it, for that matter

"Who are you guys, anyway?"

Ranyx smacked himself in the fore head. "Will wonders never cease?"

Giving a weary grin, Oceana shook her head unbelievingly. She had experienced weirder things, but this was definitely on her top twenty. Clapping Ranyx on the shoulder she raised a brow and shrugged.
"We ARE on the Grand Line after all dearie. Wonders are to be expected."
