Open RP Enkai Island

"Reading a book or jogging you say? That doesn't sound piratey..." James stopped, trying not seem to rude, but he couldn't hold it in. "Sounds more like a self-conscious school-girl..." He laughed a little.

He eagerly tried to help Ana to her balance. "Careful with the flirting miss, you wouldn't want to make the other girls jealous," After saying this, he over-zeallously removed his cap brushed back his hair, followed by a gentleman's bow. Afterwords though, he desperately put his hat back on. He grabbed the glider, and placed it on the ground.

Dave wasn't having as much fun. He saw a navy ship, and he had no idea why it would be drifting in. Watching it slowly roll on the waves, he prepared for a strike, but there was no such attack.

Nova laughed as Oceana turned bright red. A little out of embarrassment and a little out of anger after calling Nova a self-conscious school-girl. The gentlemanly bow didn't help the shade of her face either. Stammering, she handed the glider to him and gave him a bewildered look.

"Flirting!? I wasn't--" she protested, "And Nova's not a self-conscious school-girl! He's just cultured is all." Nova's laughter slowed as he caught his breath.

"s'alrigh' captain. I really don't come off as too piratey anyways." Nova said, "Mr. Corrigan, shall we escort you back to your ship?" Courteous as always, Nova couldn't help but offer.

James sighed. "Yes, we can go back to Dave... and sorry for telling a joke." James had an upset look on his face, he realized she was a bit easy to offened. "cultured pirate is even worse really. That's like saying a fun librarian..." He walked toward the ship, knowing that their soon would be trouble, there always was with Dave.

Dave had set the boat up, ready to leave, but was waiting for James. While Dave thought he was a bit to cavalier, he still was a crew member, and he still was an employee.

After a bit her blush disappeared and she was chatting and laughing with Nova and James as they walked him back to his ship.

"Well this is it James." she said with a smile, "Thanks for the glider ride. It was also a pleasure meeting you."

"I wholeheartedly agree." Nova said. Reaching into her pocket, she extracted a pouch of bellis and placed them in James's hand.

"I nearly forgot, but here's the money to replace that keg."

James saw the ship, as well as Dave, who was less than worried. James however, was a man who was quick to end a fight, before his friends were caught up in it. He grabbed the glider, and refused bluntly to take the cash. It turned into a large albatross, and he jumped on.

"Got to go scout out the battlefield.." He yelled to Dave, while preparing to fly off. Just before lifting off the ground, he pointed towards the ship, signalling that their was danger. Then he was off. Dave responded, "Don't get killed, you still have work to do!" and James sighed again.

James flew out above the rolling waves, on top of storm-glider animal form. The breeze was strange here, but still nice. He wasn't worried about the battle, he wasn't going to be fighting anyone head on. He was worried about the other two being attacked.

Narrowing her eyes towards the horizon, she muttered curses to herself. It was almost strange to say it, but the wind carried an odd scent. Gunpowder, iron and other such smells. It was the smell of trouble. Not even bothering to argue with James about the money, she headed straight for his boss.

"Hello sir, you must be James' employer." she said cordially, although signs trouble nagged at the back of her mind, "I had offered to replace the keg that James had broke earlier this afternoon and he didn't accept the money. I thought that maybe you might."

Dave mumbled to himself a little, about how worthless James was, but he knew that exactly true. He snapped out of his thoughts and scoffed, "With the battleship coming and my minion off to war, money isn't really important. Come back later if you will though." He said, refusing to be distracted from the current scene.

While this was happening, James attempted to land on the ship. He wasn't shot at, until he made the riflemen worry. By getting close, they assumed he would be attacking. And so he flew back, to report what he thought he found out. He was thinking, not hostile, but definately prepared for a battle royale... that's no fun, Ana could get hurt

Frowning, she sighed, muttering to herself, she pocketed the money and shuffled down the gang plank back onto the docks where Nova was. He gave her a questioning look and she shrugged. They had known each other for so long, most of their conversations weren't even words. Sighing, Ana shook her head and headed towards the ship.

"Come on Nova, let's get back to the Ethereal. Most of the crew's probably ready and raring to go." she said. Although, something in her gut still told her something wasn't quite right. Even after giving out commands to set sail, she still was uneasy.

James rushed back, and heard Oceana saying they were going to leave. "Don't go yet!! Their's a ship out their, but it ain't ready to fight yet!!" When Dave heard this he nodded his head.

"They probably will blow your ship straight out of the water, but they won't start a battle on the docks. Just wait it out for them to leave.. If nothing else, we have a better chance of fighting them together." Dave wasn't talking to Ana, he was talking to Nova, who probably would understand.

The ship was very close to the dock now, so the two had to make their decisions fast, stay or go, it really didn't matter, as long as they chose.

Nova turned to his captain, who looked very far off right now. Something was troubling her deeply. She could sense a little something more. They joked it was the Edwards' intuition and that it was stronger in the females, but sometimes-- they weren't far off from the truth.

"You heard the man!" he shouted at the crew, "Hold up and prepare to defend the ship!"

After the enemy ship had docked however, they only sent out a man carrying a letter, straight for Dave, as it was obvious he was the leader. He tore open the note, and read it aloud quickly. "Your strengths have been recognized, and you are formally invited to join the shichibukai with the world government." Dave quickly nodded, and smiled, "I accept!" While this may have made Dave feel good, James was very upset. As Dave walked onto the dock, James looked at him with disgust. "You're just going to leave us behind? You're going to side with those dogs?" Dave tried to apologize, but their is something about talking with a fist jammed into your mouth that makes things harder.

James then glided back towards Oceana, and Dave walked inside the seven deadly sins. The riflemen fired at James, "The battle begins!" He shouted toward Oceana, ready for a fight. However, Dave was not. He grabbed his weapons quickly, and threw them onto the marine ship eagerly. An air of twisted joy fell out of Dave's pores.

Twinging at the word shichibukai, Ana felt a pang deep in her gut. The word was so disgusting to her now. Rage boiled in her veins. Digging her fingernails into the palms of her hand, she felt anger building and building inside of her. Nova saw the expression on his face and backed away. At this point, there was no use in trying to console her.

"Yoruyonaka! Attack with all you've got! Don't let that dog of the world government get away. I will have revenge!" she shouted. Turning to James she looked as angry as one could get, but on the verge of tears.

"James, I know he helped you out, but right here, right now, he is mine to destroy."

Dave wasn't interested in fighting. His face had changed into a bland look as he saw her wanting to fight him. Fighting was what got him into piracy, fighting wouldn't get him out. He just sighed and let the ship go away.

James tried to stop her, "their are too many gunners! Live to fight another day, so you can kill him! But don't die for your stupid rage!"

She had been clenching her fists so hard, she had punctured her palms, but she didn't notice. She didn't care. The shichibukai was getting away and James was right. As much as she hated it, she had to let him get away. Crying out in frustration, she threw her hands above her head.

"Bah! I'll wait then! Mark my words though, I will bring down the shichibukai even if it kills me." she said angrily, before marching off to her quarters. Nova sighed.

"Poor girl. She really means it too."

James sighed as Dave drifted off. He felt very responsible for this, as it was his boss who stirred this all up. He sighed in relief, knowing that the battle had been stopped, because he couldn't fight off all the riflemen and there was no way he could rely on beating Dave. He looked to Nova signalling for him to follow. He was preparing to speak in a more serious manner, and finally thought of the right words.

"Hey, is it okay if I follow you around? I want to make sure the "princess" is safe, she gets a bit recklass. I got her involved, so I wanna make sure she didn't get hurt hunting Dave. He's not exactly the weakest fellow, as you might guess." His tone was solemn and his voice did not carry far, conveying the fact that he was worried.

Dave however, was not.

Nova sighed and gave a weary smile. Seating himself on a barrel he motioned for James to sit down. He could see the worry in his eyes, and frankly, Nova was very worried as well. This wasn't the first time this had happened though.

"Aye, our 'princess' is reckless indeed, but she's a big girl. She can take care of her self." Nova said, his eyes distant and foggy. "Although, your company is welcome. She may need a little more emotional support this time around." His voice sounded sad and soft. This brought his memory back to a day he didn't like to remember very often.

James stood more upright, showing a bit more pride than usual. His demeanor became a bit more upbeat, but he was still nervous. He glanced the sky, and inhaled a large breath. He grabbed a bottle of booze, and threw it on the ship. With a quick rubbing of pebbles, a spark jumped out onto the ship, and a flame grew deviously from it. However, James had forgotten that Allister and Psychler were on the ship, and so he left. He exhaled, gasping for breath. This was a symbolic act, meaning that he was no longer part of the Wrong Company, that he had moved on.

"Well then, we should probably move out, the fire's gonna attract attention of sorts." He walked toward Ana, and smiled, "you got yourself a new crewmate! For better or for worse, we're gonna be travelin' together.." His voice resounded with a strange collective of emotions, complete with both elation and fear.

Letting out a strangled laugh, Oceana patted James on the shoulder. Her eyes were puffy and red after crying out her frustration. She was a little embarrassed to have him see her like this, but she was captain, she couldn't afford to sulk in her cabin all day.

"When you say it like that, you make it sound like we're married." she said, "Welcome aboard Mr. Corrigan." Giving one last look towards the burning ship, she shouted orders out to the crew to leave the harbor. With that, the Ethereal put Enkai island to its rudder for good.

James breath was coarse and weak, but his laughter was still joyful. He faked shock, and then in playful awe, asked. "We're not?" This was simply a joke, but it could be misinterpreted. He was really hoping just to change the mood, whether she was angry, embarrassed, or laughing, it was better than her shame.

He pointed at her with a cocky feeling. "So, Ana, we're not on a first name basis? I'd think your crewmate would be... otherwise, they're nothing more than a tool." He paused, waiting for an interpretation, "I'm not a tool am I?" this was another attempt to lighten the mood. He pointed toward Nova, and shook his finger, as to say, "shut up..."

Feeling more energy flood into her, Ana felt her spirit rise. She like James's personality and sense of humor a lot. Nova raised his brows, as James wagged his finger at him, then snickered silently to himself.

"No James. I'm sorry, it's a habit of mine. Sometimes I even refer to my own brothers as Mr. Edwards." she admitted, shrugging her shoulders.

"I'm calling bullsh*t on that." James said, and then he posed in a position resemblant of a certain character famous for pointing out the contradictions in statements. "You never told me you had brothers!" The way he presented this was as if he was trying to have her sanity denied. This may have been true though, landing a crazy chick can be easy. But James wasn't that shallow was he?

((okay I'm going to be naughty and bring in a character that hasn't been seen yet. Maybe Hawk'll approve him for me tonight.))

Nova rolled his eyes and groaned a little. Oceana recognized the look and laughed a little.

"Oh she has brothers. Monsters is more like it though." Nova grumbled. As if on cue, out from the galley stepped Phinneas Edwards. Wearing a stern look on his face he gave Nova a critical look.

"Monster? That'd be Typhon. I'm only half her brother." he said. Turning his gaze to James he narrowed his eyes into a scrutinizing glare. "Ana, who's this?" Oceana rolled her eyes and punched him in the arm.

"This is James, our new crewmate." she said, "James, this is my half-brother Phinneas."

"I think he looks like an ugly fool. Do we reaally need to bring him along? He's not exactly the most neccessary person to have is he? I know, I know, he's your brother, but he's dragging you down! Half-brothers don't even really count." He said, and then he apologized, "sorry, I'm taking your place as sleazeball, and I can fix the ship." James was being totally rude, but it was mostly because he didn't really like alot of people.
