Usurper Pirates- Chapter 2: Marine Escapade...

Then Alphonse remembered..."I don't have an alias..."

It was becoming increasingly obvious that at least one pirate was on this island. Several townspeople stated that a marine had taken down the posters. They thought that the wanted posters were simply being replaced. When questioned further, this marine was consistently described as having a near identical appearance to the pirate captain Treant. That was his first mistake. He should have made an underling take the posters down.

Having found a likely lead, Mara was now grinning. How many more mistakes could this captain make? Addressing her troops, she pointed towards the docks, and then the forest, speaking on each one in turn. "Take a group and search every last ship in port. We've already searched the town so all that's left is the forest. I want it searched over with a fine toothed comb! Each group of five will carry one mini den den mushi. Keep them on at all times." Turning to move with the docks group herself, she finished speaking. "Dismissed."

Mara's actual destination was the communications station that was hastily erected on the docks when the blockade started. If she told the higher ups, perhaps they could get a patrol ship to examine every inch of coast line.

((The marines in the forest are NPC's. Feel free to do whatever you want.))

When hearing this from Alphonse, Treant thought cleverly, but he still thought a bit slowly. He looked around and said. "I'll call you Don, and you can call doctor, Jack.... then Jack, he will be known as Doctor, but he will not be talking in town as he is a dagger. If he complies, he will be rewarded, but if he is difficult, he will be repromanded." Treant explained, in his mind it made perfect sense, and in all reality it was an okay plan. "Now, It might not be obvious, but they will figure something out, so you go in to town, get me some cosmetics, and some new clothes." Treant laughed a little, "There looking for marine captain Treant right now..." Treant started laughing some more.

He then continued, "I'm going to guard camp, and look for the good doctor, get some clothes for him too, he may decide to wake up." Treant shoved Al gingerly, pushing him toward the town. "sorry we couldn't do it in one go, but I had to be quick, I had no time to finish the notes...."

"Don?" alphonse asked in the usual half-depressed tone. Jack zooms up to alphonse's face. "He means Donna, his ten-year-old sister."
((he's a sword about 5 feet long...))

"No, like Don as in Dontell, you know, a more, unique name. Something other people wouldn't think of." Treant explained to Alphonse...
((it's supposed to be an insult!))

Jack looked away. "I still say Jenny." Alphonse of course was not taking this well. "S-stop! I'm a boy!"
((??? I'm confused.))

"When we get into town, remind me to sear Jack's tongue off. That way, he can't verbally assault you. Even if he tried, he would be saying something like this, 'MUH MUH GURHWHUH!', Which would only make him sound stupid." Treant explained. For some reason, Jack was never useful, except for when he was killing.
((It's like saying size matters...))

Jack opened his mouth wide in treant's face. "I ain't got no tongue! Haha!" he chanted like a child.

"If you have no tongue, then you have no write to speak. If you cannot hold your tongue, then you should not need to hold it." Treant explained in a civilized way, that explained simply. "Also, do you have any idea how foolish you are? You are tempting your master." Treant violently insisted.

Jack moved closer to alphonse. "To do what? Cry all over the place?" Alphonse was shrinking back now, his head down in despair.

Investigating the nearby voices, a group of marines moved through the forest; coming across the clearing the pirates were in and remaining hidden in the undergrowth. "They're pirates!" "Keep your voice down." "What do you think?" "I hear three of them and there are five of us." "But what if they're strong?" "Can a man not subdue a bull if he's in its blind spot?"

The five marines grinned and drew their swords. They hardly had battle experience and if their talking was not overheard then the unsheathing swords would have been.

"Stay still. I have to do something. I'm going to deal with some little spies." Treant said, while grabbing his bow. He loaded an arrow, and wrapped some roses in it. He fired the arrows towards the marines. "They were really annoying. Let's hope they were taken out by it. Otherwise, I'll have to let Al on them... and If I do, they'll wish they died..." Treant was trying to psyche him up, because it would be logical to boost his friend's ego.

"What do you mean the higher ups wont check the inlets?" Mara spat the words with an angry voice as she brought her face inches away from that of the communications officer, her teeth clenched together harshly. Gulping, the marine responded. "Ma'am, they are saying that no ship will make it past their blockade and it would be pointless to have a patrol ship break away from formation to look for what we don't even know is there."

Furious, Mara turned on her heels and started to walk away. What bothered her was that her superiors were right. Breaking formation of the blockade would only serve to create an opening. "Ma'am?" The voice of the communications officer once again returned and Mara stopped. "Group seven seems to have run into something. They aren't answering."

Returning back to the assorted den den mushis, Mara picked up a receiver and began shouting. "Group seven! Group seven answer me!" The mini den den mushi on the other end of the line still lay attached to one of the fallen marines' wrists, the sound of Mara's voice easily reaching the pirates."

Alphonse heard the voice, mistaking it for the marine's families. "T-treant? I think I hear his mother's voice. Do you think she's sad?"

"Kid, lemme tell you something you might not have heard. A mother is sad when her son joins the navy. She is only burdened more when he dies. But, family has to be strong, so all they do is set them off, and try to remember the fun their children were. So, in a way, the mother is going to be celebrating soon." Treant explained, talking about wakes.

Alphonse looked at his feet. "So...people celebrate life after death?" Jack rocked back and forth. "She's probably now all alone, with no husband to pay the bills. Her son joined the navy to put bread on the table, but he was killed in the line of duty. Now she has to take care of the yungins' who don't konw what happened to poor old William." Alphonse was obviously tricked, for he was hitting treant with his fists, not doing anything, while yelling "How could you!? Now what about his brothers and sisters!? His Mother must be dying with tears!" tears were going down his face from the trick.

"Haven't you killed men? After you've been killing for your life, you do it so much you stop at nothing for one life. Once they signed up to fight wars, they were already as good as dead. After long enough, everyone dies Kid. And if you don't learn that, you'll die sooner than later. There was no way I was going to let them take a child who has not learned the way of the world to hang before I fought back. Really, you are wet around your ears." Treant asked him solemnly, letting each fist hit him. "Sooner or later, everyone goes green."

Furious over the voices Mara could hear through the den den mushi, she slammed the receiver down on the one she was using, purposefully missing the snail and instead hitting it against the table. Face red and without an explanation, the marine captain stormed away from the communications tent and made her way towards the forest. Either those pirates were stupid or insulting her; and neither one sat well with Mara.

Reaching the edge of the forest did little to elevate her mood. Taking a deep breath, Mara took a step towards one of the nearest trees and seemed to be absorbed into it. They would never even see her coming.

Jack laughed at alphonse's despair. "You really are an idiot, boss!" Alphonse put his head down, again put into tears by a trick.

Treant laughed. "I the fool! That's a laugh!" Then Treant became angry, but not violent, "I prefer you do not speak of me that way, seeing as you are being played by Jack. Now, if you do not mind, I suggest you give them a proper burial... you cared so much about their lives..." Treant was not being so silly, but only because of the current conditions...

((actually Jack addresses alphonse as boss sometimes))

Alphonse looked around for a shovel. "I guess I could...what could I dig with?"

((I misread it, oh well, it's not like he couldn't have made that mistake.)
"You're hands." Treant said. He realized the kid needed to toughen up, as he was obviously weak. He scoffed, "now, I'm going to get going, there's no way five or so dead officers would be forgotten. Somebody will figure it out."

"You're right. Someone will." Mara's voice sounded in the clearing as her foil, Equal Pair and part of her forearm extended with great speed from a nearby tree, aimed squarely at Treant's chest. "Die!"

Treant was shocked, especially since their was no way he could have time to counter attack. So instead, he just stepped right and forward, sticking his leg out to trip the assailant, which would send her into the fire. "I'm sorry, but you aren't exactly threatening to me." Treant said.
