East Blue: Three is a Crowd

Derge was sitting in his barracks on his bed reading a newspaper speaking of a up and coming crew of pirates in the East Blue. Appearently they were wreaking havoc throughout the ocean and it appeared they were now headed towards the Grandline. Rougetown being the last stop between the rest of the East Blue and the entrance to Reverse Mountain was their natural last stop. The situation around the HQ was crazy. Everyone was running around like chickens with their damned heads cut off. It wasn't every day a crew like this appeared in East Blue.

Thanks to the news, there was a major shortage of supplies coming into the marine base. Derge was unable to get anymore ammo for his gun after he has used it on that pirate a few days back. Even the ship that Pyro and he were supposed to sail on was delaied for the time being. This particular fact pissed Derge off like no other. In a already sour mood, it only further enraged him that the town was crawling with bouny hunters seeking to nab a member of the crew for profit.

Pyro slammed a mug of his moonshine on the table. Derge and he were getting their free slop for lunch. All the good cooks were on the ships. Marines on land got the shittiest food in the navy. This was to encourage members to buy their own food. Due to recent events, most of the shops closed... Particularly due to barbarians. Now everyone was forced to eat it. They tried to make it better by actually taking suggestions and all, but everyone ended up over-spicing and saucing their food to get past the horrid taste. The texture wasn't too bad.

"Why in the hell are we forced to eat this shit?! Why can't we go out there and kick the asses of all of those weak pieces of shit? It shouldn't be that hard. Even the ship is being delayed. This is ridiculous."

Pyro was rarely this irritated by such trivial details, but this was just ludicrous to him.

"Well for one they're not here yet and we don't know where the hell they are when they're out in the open sea. Sure they're probably somewhere between here and the last island they ransacked, but that's a big area to patrol. And that's assuming they're not indisguise. Now normally Derge wouldn't be so calm, but he had just read what he had said in the paper like five second prior. It won't do any goddamned good to go off half cocked when they aren't even here. There are so many marines on or around the usual scum has been scrapped clean." Derge said rather annoyed.

All of the sudden bells began to ring and a buzz went around the marine head quarters. Something had happened, something big. Derge kicked open his door and montioned for Pyro to follow him. He walked up to the guards at the gate as reports came in over the den den mushi. "Requesting back up, SOS. Marine Battleship Heavenly Desire under attack by the group thought to be the Gold Shoe Pirates. Their numbers are around 50 men strong, at least 10 devil fruit users. Requesting immeadiate back up. buzzzzzzzz......" as the sounds of battle echoed from the transponder it was appearnt the pirates has recruited since the marines last went up against them. The silence indicated the fate of all of the marines aboard the Heavely Desire. The last report was a crew of about 15 with five devil fruit users. It was obvious they were heading towards the Grandline with those kind of numbers.

Hal hazily sat up in his bed in the barracks.  He slept far too long and, as he woke up, was surprised that he hadn't been reprimanded for sleeping the length of time he did.  Yawning, Hal jumped out of his bed got changed into his Marine uniform.  It wasn't exactly the most stylish of clothing choices, but it was better than nothing.  Hal shrugged and headed towards the cafeteria, rubbing his eyes.  Apart from the usual bright yellow iris, Hal's eyes were also ever-so-slightly bloodshot.  He should probably try and get accustomed to the Marine sleeping patterns as this was the pattern he was going to live by for most, if not all of his life.  Getting to the cafeteria, Hal got his daily slop.  Oh, how he missed actual food.  He hadn't been a marine for too long and didn't think to leave with any belli.

Eating his food, bells began to ring.  That would explain why he wasn't reprimanded, that higher ups were too busy with work.  Well, guess it's both a lucky and unlucky day.  Hal looked down at his slop and sighed.  Shovelling it down extremely quickly, Hal got up and left the table, shivering from the awful taste as he swallowed the slop.  Heading to the front gate, Marines already stood there for the report.  Hal stood near the back, having just made it in time for the report over the Den-Den Mushi.  Hal, closing his eyes, took in the information from the report and nodded along with the mental notes he was making.  Quickly, Hal turned into his Full form and turned invisible.  Leaving quickly, Hal would head straight towards the Heavenly Desire.  After all, even though the silence gave him a feeling that no-one survived, if he didn't give any of the pirates on board the chance to repent, then who would?

kenshin was pissed when he walked into the bar they had DARED to drug him and steal all his weapons in the last island now he was stuck with marine leftovers a cutlass and two flintlocks. So as he entered the tavern he might have hit the door a bit more harder than he should slamming it open. He then glanced around quickly to see if he could notice any wanted persons he found non not that he was suprised this was rather close to a marine base after all. He then walked up to the bar and talked to the owner in a silent voice the latter turned pale before he runned into the kitchen and kenshin vent to sit down at a table next to someone that could only be a marine based on his clothes

Pyro rushed after Derge. Between the two, Derge was calmer so Pyro typically followed instead of leading. The power of impulse and forethought caused problems. Derge didn't have that problem. Pyro was shocked at the reports of the crew, but not shocked the marines lost. That was typical. Why would weaklings try to kill those who make a living, and a reputation, of killing said weaklings?

Pyro flipped his pistol a few times and sheathed it again. He was ready to leave whenever Derge was, and would follow him.

"So, what are we going to do?"

Pyro followed Derge thereafter.

"Hmm." Derge looked down at the ground and then to Pyro before turning towards the port. It was likely the pirate would have to stop here for suplies with that big of a crew. Then again that assumption didn't really take into account that fact they had just destroyed a battleship. "We have no idea what they got from that ship. They might not even need to stop here anymore." Derge said looked at the port with Pyro standing behind him.

Derge felt a cold wind blow by him, as if something has just passed him. For a moment Derge turned his head expecting someone to be there, but there was nothing that he could see. "Sigh for some reason, I have a bad feeling. Lets move out and wait for them on the western shore. I doubt they'll come sailing up to the port with the marine presence there. As far as I know the west is the only other responable place to dock." Derge said walking out the gate. He took a path through the forested area, one of those paths that most people didn't use.

Hal would head straight out of the marine base, towards the docks.  Silently, he would sigh a sigh of relief.  He managed to get out without being noticed and without knocking into anyone.  It was close though, Hal was pretty sure that he almost knocked into another marine.  Average sized.  It was probably a man.  However, remembering his skimmed-by facial structure, Hal began to re-evaluate.  Was it a guy?  He was sure it was.  Shaking his head, Hal continued to run towards the docks.  Looking behind him briefly, it would seem that no-one was following him.  Well, either that or Hal had just ran too far ahead.

Closing in on the docks, Hal reverts back to his human form and stops.  Hal took a couple of deep breaths.  Running as a Barghest didn't necessarily tire him, but for whatever reason, Hal felt a large weight on his shoulders.  Perhaps it was the fact that he, himself, is about to walk towards a group of pirates that took out an entire vessel by themselves.  They sounded strong, but luckily Hal had the advantage of invisibility.  Gathering himself, Hal walked towards the dock with his head held high and his chest puffed out.  Hopefully, if they were going to dock, then they would have docked by now.  If not, then Hal shall just have to wait.

Pyro walked with Derge to the docks. He anticipated the bloody battle than would come... Hopefully. He needed to train. He needed enemies to that... Or did he? Derge was strong. Perhaps he could battle him. It mad sense; at the very least, he wouldn't die.

"I hope some enemies show up soon, bro. When its over, if it comes, maybe we should have a good brawl. I need a chance to practice with my devil fruit. If I never use it, I'll never master it, right?"

Pyro spit in the sand and stood on top of a lamp post. He tried to look across the sea to spot enemies, only to find sea. Occasionally, he'd see what he thought was something, only to not actually see anything. He had pretty normal vision, maybe less so than a lot, but not noticeably. He sighed.

"Damn, I don't see a thing. How long do you think this will take?"

Derge stood against a wooden pole conected to the docks as Pyro spoke to him.  Pyro wanted to fight Derge or something along those lines.  Derge didn't really care, however he wasn't one to take on a battle it was impossible for him to win either.  "Hmm, maybe later."Derge said without any hesiation.  Derge wasn't one to back down from a fight with an enemy, but fighting a losing battle against a comrade wouldn't serve any purpose at that time.
 
Just as he finished speaking, a flag that Derge had seen just that morning popped up over the horizen.  It was the flag of the Heavinly Desire, hung beneath the flag of the pirates.  The Heavenly Desires flag was on fire.  It was a symbol of the pirates victory over the marines, a mockery of the marines.   Derge gritted his teeth as he watched the ship headed for the main port.  It wasn't long before they could hear cannon fire from behind them  They were attacking the marines directly.  
 
Right when Derge was about to turn away, another ship   The ship was smaller, but it bore the same flag as the previous.  That was as it came over, Derge could see the crew pulling down the flag and putting up a white one.  It was obvious what they were doing.  The big threatening ship was a distraction while the smaller less threatening one would easily come ashore without notice.  Once they were it would only be a matter of days after the larger ship retreated.  They could get supplies and be on their way without the marine notcing.  
 
"Those clever little fuckers.  There is no way we can allow a crew like these to continue to grow in power.  They're way too good at this." Derge said watching the ship coming into the western port.

As the cannon fire commenced, Pyro stared at the sky. Fire, blackness, motion. The power of battle. He listened to derge. He agreed to fight later possibly, and stated we need to get rid of the pirates. He was right. It was obvious they were taking advantage of things to restore supplies. They needed to act immediately.

"If you get in my back, we can get close. Tell me where you want to go."

Pyro turned into his full form, and spread his wings. Whether or not Derge decided to get on, the would launch himself towards the large ships and begin to attack the pirates. Particularly, he planned to search for ability users and throw them into the sea. If their fellows took the time to rescue them, they would be attacked and knocked out of the ship. If they didn't, he would simply continue to pick them off one by one until all the devil fruit users were gone. Then, he'd get on the main ship and attack those using weapons.

Hal walked towards the docks, his chest out proudly and his head held high.  He surveyed the area...and two marines had already beaten him here.  Damnit.  Hopefully the two of them weren't going to attack the marines before he got a chance to let them apologise.  Then again, who in their right mind apart from Hal would let pirates who had just destroyed a ship full of marines a second chance?  Hal quickly shifted into his full form once again and turned invisible.  As he did this, a large ship came into the main dock.  Suddenly, canon fire was heard.  Perhaps this was the ship that had attacked the marines before.  Hal nodded to himself and ran towards the ship, running near the two marines has he runs past.

Ignoring everything behind him, including the fact that one of the marines had turned himself into a firey bird, Hal ran straight towards the large ship, attempting to allow the pirates one last chance to repent before all of the marines got here to attack them.  While most people believe that it's idiotic to give people a second chance when they blatantly weren't going to take it, Hal found it slightly nearly necessary before a fight.  Just maybe, the pirates realised what they were doing could harm a lot of people.  The thought put Hal's mind at ease as he ran towards the entrance of the large ship.

Derge leaped on to Pyro's back and got his footing before taking out his cutlass and pointed towards the small ship heading into the dock.  "Attack"  Derge said as Pyro began to fly towards the ship.  Once they had gotten close, Derge leaped off of Pyro and down towards the ship.  Derge landed one one of the men onboard the ship, he used his knees to crack the man in the neck to knock him out almost instantly.  At a glace it looked like there were only three more men left.  They looked tough, stronger than your average pirate scum.  

Derge went into action and ran towards one of the pirates with his cutlass.  He swung the blade, however it was quickly denied.  The pirate Derge had attacked easily slapped his blade away before punching Derge in the gut.  Derge fell to his knees, the man was strong, it was obvious why they were able to beat the marine ship.  Derge was facing Pirate 1.  

At the main docks the bombardment of cannon fire was hitting and destroying the docks.  Marines on the docks were jumping in or falling in the ocean as the dock fell into the water after being smashed by random cannonballs.  A few ships scrambled to launch, they took damage but were still able to turn their ship to counter fire.  On of the larger ships began to send mortar fire at the large pirate ship.  The random and sudden attack gave the pirates an early lead, but the sheer number of marines would soon overwhelm the single ship.  One of the small ships that had left the dock was quick enough to get close enough to hook onto the pirate ship allowing its occupants to board the pirate ship.

having heard about the attack from a messenger that was actually coming to get a few marines that was in the bar kenshin now followed them down to the harbor.
although his mind was more on the money he could earn then to actually defend the harbor out of kindness. If the pirate crew was so strong as people said there was bound to be atleast one person with a high bounty among them. so now he was standing on the shore with some of the marines that had recognized him as a bounty hunter waiting for one of the smaller ship to dock. He took out his pistol and carefully aimed at one of the pirates at the ships closer to shore. He could only imagine the pirates surprise as he suddenly would find himself with a hole in his throat. One of the marines at the beach noticed what he did and commented him on the great shot. Kenshin then holstered his gun again after reloading, he was always careful with having his pistols fully loaded.

Pyro ate a rumble ball after derge jumped off. He decided to take pirate two to help him out, rather than his original plan.

Sacred form

Pyro, landing on the ship, transforming into his sacred form, giving him great regeneration, increased strength, and increased agility. He drew his cutlass and drove it towards the pirate. The pirate blocked, but didn't have nearly as much strength as pyro. As pyro broke the block, the man evade and made a quick fencing-like strike towards his abdomen. Pyro spun aside with his agility and kicked the man into pirate 1. Whatever the condition of pirate 1 was at that point, it should help derge and might get one of them killed.

Pyro then jumped towards pirate three, stabbing him in the throat. Pyro laughed moderately loud as the blood spilled from his jugular and artery. He then rose his weapon, and went to strike pirate 2 again, this time, more offensively.

Pyro punched the pirate in the stomach with a flaming fist, surprising him, and burning him and he grasped his stomach in pain, pyro lifted his cutlass. He was about to deal the finishing blow.

Having been on one of the closer ships, Hal had been lucky enough to have the ship not being shot down.  The way it looked, the marines weren't going to stop attacking the pirates for long enough to allow Hal to ask if they wished to repent.  The marines on the ship threw hooks onto the pirate's ship, allowing the marines passage.  During this time, Hal stood there, watching as the other marines got ready for battle.  The true battle started now for Hal.  No more waiting.  Hal suddenly shifted his human body, a large smirk spreading across his face.  Perhaps he wouldn't be able to allow these pirates to repent, but at least he could have fun cutting their throats.

Hal quickly shifted into his Full form.  While it was rather large, it was nimbler than either his Hybrid or Human form.  Turning invisible, Hal jumped onto one of the chains that connected the two ships.  Running across, Hal felt a sense of urgency rise within him.  These pirates were attacking innocent lives just to get at the marines.  What if a child or a parent was walking along the docks as the pirates hit?  A flame burned within Hal as he jumped onto the pirate ship, landing as his Hybrid form while staying invisible.  Turning his claw into some-form of make-shift spear, Hal ran towards one of the closest unengaged pirate, aiming his claw for their throat.

more ships had set out and one one of them kenshin now stood and observed his surroundings it seemed like the pirates had planned this well not to mention there was so many of them. In his head he went through wanted posters to see if he could think of a pirate with enough bounty and crew to be capable of something like this, he sighed quietly if that marine had not recognized him he would probably not even be here in the first place instead he could be quietly sitting in the tavern and just take on the pirates that where likely to come there. Oh well this wasent so bad if he could atleast catch a pirate with a decent bounty, As ther marine ship pulled up next to the pirate one and released the chains to pull the other ship closer and make a bridge he pulled out his pistols there would be plenty of targets when the pirates would try to stop them.

((OOC: Pirate 1-2-3 are all on the smaller ship where Derge and Pyro are at. The smaller ship and the larger pirate ship are both out in the ocean so I doubt Shin would be able to hit any of them unless he somehow made it on the marine ship that hooked the larger ship. All of the pirates on the large ship were planned to be weak one hit npcs. If you want to make something else that's up to you. However the main five are on the smaller ship...only five which one is below deck. Derge took one out with a surprise attack and it appears Pryo took out 3.))

Derge rolled back as the body of the other pirate smacked into pirate one, the man that had previously just punched him. The pirate took the attack in stride. He simply grabbed the body as if it was a ball or a play thing that had been thrown to him in fun. First the pirate swung around his fallen comrade like he was nothing more than a large flexible club. The man's feet hit Derge sending him skidding back a good three feet into the deck of the ship they were one. Swinging the man around once more, the pirate threw his comrades body at Pryo as hard as his 50% strength would allow.

Even with Derge's high endurance, taking hits from a man with that much strength drained him. Derge was seeing stars from the blows he had taken. He sat there for a while trying to regain his composure. While he took his time the pirate turned his attention to Pryo, it was now a two on one battle.

"Careful, that guy has physical strength that might even hurt you." Derge said trying to warn his comrade.

Derge leaped to his feet, but he was still a little dizzy from the original confrontation. He realized that he had to avoid hits from that man at all costs. If Pyro took the beating while Derge went in and attacked, it'd be the best case. A hit and run with a shield type strategy.

Corrupt Arc

Pyro launched a destructive blade of fire at the man. Derge warned him of his great strength. He would have to have the ability to fight, as well as his regeneration. A perfect opportunity to practice his sacred form more.

Sacred form

He raised his cutlass and went for a direct thrust at the man, who ducked when the fire blade came at him. He raised it above his head and made a twisted thrust forward, trying to stab him through the heart. He grabbed his pistol. This shot might actually have to count. His only bullet would be used on this pirate more than likely. He decided to toss his pistol to Derge and use his left hand to block any attack the opponent would make.

"Derge, do you take me for a fool?! His strength is nothing! To me! In this form, I'm well over twice as strong as normal and I regenerate like a fully formed phoenix! Nothing he can do will be able to harm me, though I do not think I'll have anymore luck harming him. Nonetheless, you're here aren't you!?"

The opponent would try to kick pyro, and he would dodge with his great agility, slash him very shallow across the chest, and then get stabbed himself.

"Hurry and kill this bastard! This hurts like hell!"

The man, having no clue that Hal was coming, took the attack straight to the throat.  His throat slashed open, the man clutched at it and looked about, bewildered.  Where had that attack come from?  As one of their crew mates fell to the floor, the other pirates who were currently unoccupied began to panic internally.  No-one that was there could see where the attack had come from.  This was perfect for Hal.  A large smile broke on Hal's face, not that anyone there could even see it.  Why just easily destroy these marines when Hal could toy with them?  Hal tapped his foot on the deck.  The wood was probably sturdy enough.

Hal looked about for his second target.  Searching, Hal mostly found pirates that were already occupied by other marines.  One man popped up from under the deck.  This was a perfect target.  Hal began to scratch along the deck with his claws towards the pirates.  The pirate turned and noticed the sudden appearance of scratches.  Slightly frightened, the pirate drew out his sword.  When the claw marks start to appear closer, the pirate slashed at the air in front of him.  Nothing connected.  Suddenly, a piercing sensation would be felt from the man's back, near where his heart was.  Hal smiled to himself as his claw spear dug into the pirate's back, forcing it's way to his heart.  Dropping the man, Hal shook of the remaining blood on his hand and looked for his next target.  Today was a good day.

Derge let the gun hit against his body and used his arm as a basket to catch the thing. It was the only sure fire way for him to get the thing in his dazed state. As the man threw and dodged blows at and from Pryo, he spent all of his attention to him. The mythical zoan wasn't something he had ever seen before. It was strange and exciting to the man, even a little bit frightening. The pirate made the mistake of counting Derge out before he wa s dead. It was a fatal mistake many had made in the past, all rolling in their own graves at this point.

Derge took the pistol and ran toward the foe, he took the gun and placed it under the man's skull; pointing up. The pirates skull exploded from the top, causing blood and tissue to rain over Pryo. A fraction of a second passed before the man fell back, he almost fell onto Derge. Using his strong arm, Derge shoved the body just enough to push it away. It appeared as if the battle was over.

"Bastards put up a fight. It makes sense that they were ballsy enough to go after a marine vessel, however there is something I don't get. How in the hell were they able to destroy one? From the report it didn't mention anything about an ambush, to me it sounded like it was a one sided slaughter. Don't get me wrong, the guy was strong, but I don't think the forces we've seen would allow them to slaughter even half of a marine division, little lone a whole fucking ship."

kenshin shoot at all the pirates that dared to get close and try to remove the chains he had shot atleast 4 already. He heard the marines yelling orders behind his back but dident listen he was here for one thing killing pirates besides he wasent a marine so he wasent obligated to follow their orders anyway. As the pirates keept coming he holsterd his guns and drew his sword instead and yelled at the one that seemd to be in charge of the ship "Is there a plan to all this besides getting us all killed captain from what i can see they will soon have us surrounded" before he could hear the captains reply he jumped back to avoid being stabbed by one of the pirates that suddenly leap onto the bridge between the ships. this was getting really bad really fast.

Derge took a deep breath before sighing in relief, the man was finally done. The main forces of the pirate crew had been taken out by Pryo and himself. Without the main five, it wouldn't be long before the oversized remainder of the crew fell. Even if they were to escape somehow, their structure wouldn't be strong enough to support itself. Without a decent leader a crew of that size would perish, and perish quickly.

It came to Derge suddenly as if it was an epiphany sent from the heavens. The main five were supposed to be one the ship; however Derge and Pyro had only fought five men. Even after a search of the ship, no more men were found. Derge made sure the small vessel was almost turned inside out, looking for the remaining man. If the missing man was powerful enough, it would most certainly explain the reason such a weak crew was able to destroy a marine vessel.

Before Derge could present his theory, a hole opened u; a black opening beneath their feet. Instinctively Derge leaped up to try and avoid it. However the opening spanned nearly the entire deck of the ship they were one. Derge grabbed onto Pyro, trying to stay out of the black opening. Likewise, a door on the other ship had also opened. The black door swallowed everything on the two decks, including the people. If the hole had swallowed a person, they would have been transported to a dark place. Parts of a stone city and structures that appear to have been taken and combined with portions of other cities were assembled together. The sky was black, and there appeared to be no light; however anyone in the dimension could see as plain as day. What was strangest yet, was the fact that there were many doors, all leading to different places in the world.

Pyro watched the man die. Finally, the pain would cease. But Derge was right. Something was wrong. He could feek it in his bones, with the little bit of animal instinct that told him to brace himself. It was nothing more than just the subconscious recognizing danger obvious to the brain, but not to the mind.

"I think we should be careful for a surprise attack."

Just as he spoke, the hole appeared. Turning into his full form, he flew directly into the hole, Derge on his back. He honestly wanted to find support, but Derge had already prepared to go so he didn't hesitate to follow his lead. Might as well, seeing as how everything else had turned out. He wondered what was in the hole. He dived for an aerodynamic free fall. Might as well kill or be killed faster while wasting less energy.

kenshin noticed the hole it started to spread while he was fighting off the pirates damm they where persistant and thoose he dident manage to mortally wound or kill just keept climbing back on the ship and try to get over again. He soon reached a point where he didnet care that he wasent a marine and imply started to yell at the marines " if you place a gunner at each side of me we might actually have a chance to hold them off and considering how crowded they are when they try to get over you are bound to atleast hit something." he got quiet as the hole swallowed the man he had been fighting dammit he hadent been paying attention.
