History:
The young Daniel never knew his mother, but his father was a marine Captain posted in the West Blue. Daniel grew up in a well-to-do home in East Blue nursed by his nanny until he turned 14 when his 40 year old father moved him and the nanny, Margaret, to his new station just North East of the Grand Line. The newly assigned Commodore forced his son into the marines as a chore boy. After three years, Daniel was inducted as a Seaman Recruit. He participated in The Great Catch, when a monster fish attacked the islands under marine influence, and has slain many a pirate. He was an Ensign by the age of 21 and a Lieutenant Commander within the next 2 years. He had gained renown in his post as being a formidable badass. His father's pride did not live long as Daniel had also grown a reputation for being a womanizer and loud mouth. His charming yet rugged features and his suave words were ecstasy to almost every girl on the island. A month before his 24th birthday, he married one of the only girls who had not been falling all over him. She was an intelligent and beautiful woman.
Three weeks later, Daniel's loud mouth was his downfall. The Commodore got an announcement from a senior Captain that Daniel had been served a court martial for insubordination. Daniel was sent to the Commodore's office where curses were thrown at him and his own father arrested him. Some friends of his managed to break him from prison, due to them working there. He escaped the prison only to return frantically to his home to find his wife brutally murdered. Blood covered the bedroom and it was clear she had been violated. He broke from the house in tears to be captured by the marines lead by an Ensign. His attempt to escape was futile and he was only beaten for it.
The following day he was lead from his cell to the gallows, tried for treason, insubordination and escaping custody. As his name and crimes were being read out, however, his friends were also lead out to stand next to him on the gallows. Nooses were placed around their necks and he watched them die. Die for helping him. As he stood ready to die, a band of marines still loyal to justice-even though they had seen the consequence of it-charged up to the gallows shooting the guards surrounding Daniel. They slowly drove the executioner and a handful of marines back, off the platform, many of them dying in the process. By the time Daniel was free-only 2 were able to stand. They managed their way down to the end of the main street before they were stopped once more by the remaining marines. At the head of the marine force was his father. They closed in on the 'traitors', taking shots as they chased the ex-marines. Three minutes and 27 bullets later, he and his friends dived into the uninviting water sank like rocks-blood streaming from their bullet wounds.
A week later, Daniel found himself on the shore of an inhabited Island, dehydrated and slowly coming out of a coma. He took his time getting help, but when he did finally reach the local village's main street and get help from a herbal physician-he found himself more relaxed. His tedium of day to day life in the marines was over. Now he was his own man.
The pain of his wife's death kept him in bed a week longer than he needed-but he soon found that he forgot the pain more when he was doing things. So, he discarded his bloodied uniform and cape for a spare old suit provided by the doctor without his knowing. He left in the night and was not seen in that village the morning after.
Personality:
Extremely sociable though has grown quite cynical over the years. He uses sarcasm and wit almost as much as he breathes. Charm is one of his strongest characteristics. He is master of the obvious and his cynicism has created a hard outer shell that makes it hard for anyone to get attached to him personally. After his revival he locked away his wife's death deep inside, but he has never really overcome it. He has grow a hatred toward the marines over the years, starting with his incarceration and wife's death. He is very complacent but not indecisive-though he has taken to being quite and only speaks when necessary-but won't start or join a conversation for no reason.
