Technique list name: Basic Sabre Fencing

Type: Sword Style

Overview: While many styles of swordplay rely on strength, fencing takes the path less traveled and primarily focuses on agile maneuvers and finesse in order to down an opponent. A skillful practitioner can find weak spots in a target's defense and exploit them. Even if each individual strike isn't as strong as other counterpart sword styles, fencing's concise and surprisingly fast attacks make it a force to be reckoned with in the right hands.

User: Since the techniques are pretty basic at this point, it can be universal.

History: Fencing has been the sword style of choice for blade users wanting to focus on skill with the blade. These skills aren't limited to any specific faction, and practitioners can be seen in both pirates and marines alike. Most people with enough dexterity, speed, and determination can learn fencing without too much trouble, although it's usually taught from mentor to pupil. Even when training styles and jargon may vary, many of the rudimentary skills remain the same.

-Level Zero-
Name: Coup de Taille ("Cut")
Description: An attack made with a swift chopping motion of the blade, landing with the edge.
Effect: A pretty basic cutting attack. It'll leave a good sized slice on the opponent if it hits, depending upon the user's strength. Nothing special.
Stat Requirements: 15% Strength, 10% Skill

Name: Coup de Pointe ("Thrust")
Description: A swift attack made by moving the sword parallel to its length and landing with the point.
Effect: Another simple offensive attack. Pointy end of the sword goes into opponent. Although it doesn't do a whole heck of a lot of damage when it's aimed poorly, if it happens to slip between someone's ribs and spear something important that could mean trouble.
Stat Requirements: 10% Strength, 15% Skill

-Level One-
Name: En Garde
Description: A basic defensive fencing stance in which the user stands with their feet shoulder width apart and their dominant arm held loosely in from of them. The other arm is commonly kept out of the way by being held behind at shoulder height or at the user's side.
Effect: Precursor to other fencing techniques, user is prepared to quickly react to an opponent and is highly aware of their surroundings.
Stat Requirements: 10% Agility, 20% Skill

-Level Two-
Name: Marche ("Advance")
Description: Offensive fencing movement in which the user moves their front foot pushes it out and lands on the heel. The back foot is then brought up to return to the En Garde stance.
Effect: The timing of the movement can vary, and this will often throw off an opponent with less than stellar reaction time and reflexes. It can also easily close the gap between the user and the opponent and create the opportunity to strike before the target knows what hit them.
Stat Requirements: 10% Speed, 10% Agility

Name: Retraite ("Retreat")
Description: Defensive fencing movement in which user moves their rear foot reaches backwards and plants it firmly, then pushes backwards off the front leg and back into the En Garde stance.
Effect: This can be used to effectively remain out of an opponent's reach, or get out of sticky situations in a quick manner. The user can also dodge slower attacks if they respond quickly enough.
Stat Requirements: 10% Speed, 10% Agility

-Level Three-
Name: Fente ("Lunge")
Description: An attack made by rapidly launching off the user's rear leg and landing on the bent front leg. Think of a coiled up spring suddenly being released.
Effect: This can be used to close the gap between an opponent and the user incredibly quickly, allowing the practitioner to attack in an instant and without warning.
Stat Requirements: 15% Speed, 15% Agility, 10% Skill

Name: Parade ("Parry")
Description: The user deflects an opponent's incoming attack by smacking it aside it, and out of harms way, with their own blade.
Effect: The opponent's attack is effectively avoided, and the user may be able to strike back before they have a chance to reorient themselves.
Stat Requirements: 10% Agility, 15% Skill, 15% Perception

-Level Four-
Name: Feinte ("Feint")
Description: An attack in which the user strikes into one line with the intention of switching to another line before the attack is completed.
Effect: This is primarily used to psych out an opponent and catch them off guard. While particularly perceptive opponents with high reflexes may be able to see through the feint, it's pretty common to be faked out by the move and not be able to react to the intended strike.
Stat Requirements: 10% Speed, 20% Skill, 10% Tactical Intelligence
