| Subject: King Eoghan macEoin Thu Jun 30, 2011 12:39 pm | |
| Name: Eoghan macEoin, "The Lion, the Wolf, the Eagle"
Age: 23
Bounty: N/A
Species: Human
Occupation: King
Allegiance: Eurulean
Home Village/Ocean: Eurul, New World
Appearance: Eoghan is a tall, middling build man, standing at 6’5”. His brown hair is cut in a rather unique way: the front and sides of his hair are cut to just below his eyes, and they fall in groups so as to not obscure his vision. However, the rest of his hair, which runs all the way down to halfway past his rear end, is braided into a large, thick braid, and tied at the end with a thick piece of cloth. He is fully clean-shaven, and his eyes are a hazel color. His clothing consists of a close-fitting black and indigo trousers trimmed with black leather, and a large, deep purple woolen mantle that covers the majority of his body. The mantle is secured about his waist by a thick plaited leather belt, and it is fastened near the shoulder by an iron brooch, cast in the shape of a fist. He takes on a rather plain appearance, and his body somewhat tan: it’s obvious he gets his fair share of sunlight, but not much more than that.
History: Eoghan was born as the son of the blacksmith Eoin, and from an early age had an aspiration to be a warrior. From the age of four, surprisingly, he began training himself, using the dull and unfinished weapons lying around his father's workplace. This allowed him to reach a high stage of physical fitness at a very early age: easily locking him in the warrior caste for the majority of his life. Once he was set aside for the warrior caste, he had access to far better methods of training: his advancements astonished everyone, including his instructors. Beside his physical attributes, he began paying attention to his senses: sight, smell, hearing, and touch. He somehow managed to integrate his improvement physically into improvement in his senses, and eventually proved that weaponry only hindered him. He began improving his ability to engage in combat without weaponry, using only his limbs and body as a deadly weapon.
Eoghan's growth was so explosive that once, when the king visited his school, the king asked to fight the best the school had to offer. The instructors, after a meeting, decided to offer up Eoghan. In the battle that followed, Eoghan disabled the king so completely that he would never be able to fight again. As there was nothing else that could be done, Eoghan was placed into the position of King. Sure, there were a few challengers, as very few people believed that a twenty year old deserved the position of King. Each one was swiftly destroyed, and Eoghan was left as the only remaining candidate. He 'inherited' the previous generation's Administrator, but due to the Administrator's extreme age, he knew he would need a replacement.
He found this replacement in the prodigy Fionn macAlasdair. Fionn turned his merchant caste father's floundering business into the island's primary source of income. Eoghan approached Fionn with the offer to become Administrator when the current one died, and Fionn agreed. Fionn continued to multitask between managing the country, his father's business, practicing knife throwing, and a budding relationship with Eoghan. After Fionn somehow gained a Devil Fruit ability, Eoghan made use of it to train his soldiers in the art of war from a 'safe' environment, in order to help make them truly aware of how combat works. For the past three years, the two of them have repelled all attacks without losing more than a hundred soldiers.
Personality: Eoghan is a thoroughly nationalistic person, of the belief that his country should never bow to the World Government, pirates, Marines, or anyone else. He is a very kind king, as well as a rather conservative one: he would never go against the rules of his people, nor their customs. However, he is extremely hotheaded: this, combined with his extreme nationalism, will lead to him assaulting visitors for the slightest insult or negative comment. He loves children for an inexplicable reason. Eoghan expresses quite a bit of contempt for people who only rely on their Devil Fruit for everything: to him it expresses a weakness in character. He has tremendous respect for almost every profession on the face of the planet: as almost every profession serves a vital purpose for human society. As such, he will also not stand for any insult aimed at any caste, class, or group of people. He is surprisingly modest about his strength and his position: to an outsider, he wouldn’t be noticed as particularly kingly.
As anything other than a king, Eoghan is extremely personal and extroverted, unafraid of talking with people he had barely met two seconds ago. Trickery and sarcasm, as well as semantics all hold no power in his speech, and he does not skirt around the point of a conversation. He almost never lies, unless it is vital for the survival of his country. He is friendly and kind, rarely noticing the flaws in others, unless it’s blaringly obvious. He can tolerate many different kinds of people. He has built a friendly relationship with a large percentage of his subjects. His charisma is enough to calm panicky subordinates, and he tries to avoid angering people.
However, this kind and happy exterior is completely erased when his people are threatened. Eoghan has the drive to destroy any and all threats to his kingdom, and he will not show mercy to those who try to pick a fight. His deadly efficiency in removing opponents has been remarked as ‘terrible to behold’, in a non grotesque way. In a friendly match, or in a bout for kingship, he treats it with a lighthearted and rather playful attitude. He will fool around for several minutes before getting ‘serious’, without changing his outward personality.
Ship: Unnecessary.
Devil Fruit: None.
Special Abilities: Enhanced Senses: Eoghan has put a very large amount of effort into developing four of his senses: hearing, sight, smell, and touch. Eoghan can hear a specific conversation on the other side of a crowded and boisterous banquet hall. He can also notice discreet noises most wouldn’t pick up: a slight crunching of leaves, a foot scuffing on the floor, a misplaced chirp. He has also improved his sight to the point that he can see almost completely clearly on a moonless night. He has the sight necessary to aim a bow and arrow with incredible accuracy. His smell is such that it could almost rival that of a dog’s. He can recognize others by their scent, and can almost track them using it. Eoghan’s sense of touch is such that he can feel a change in the direction of the wind, or even the movement of air to predict where someone will end up.
Skilled Bowmanship: Eoghan is able to wield a bow with a large amount of skill: in tandem with his amazing sight and his strength, Eoghan is able to hit quite a variety of targets. From about half a kilometer away, Eoghan can hit within a meter of a target.
Prodigious Strength: Eoghan is an extremely strong person: a punch of his, placed properly, could shatter bones. He puts this to use with his unique fighting style. He is not called upon to use his full strength regularly.
Flexibility: Eoghan’s young body is rather flexible: he can bend over and place his palms on the ground without bending his knees. This is also used for his unique fighting style.
Reflexes and Speed: Eoghan’s reflexes are nearly catlike: he can turn around fully in a tenth of a second. He can move with a lot of speed, topping out at fifty meters per second.
Incapacitation Striking: Eoghan’s special martial art technique specializes in the incapacitation of enemies without invoking death. It bears several similarities to Fishman Karate, due to the fact that the techniques do not require direct contact with the targeted area. This martial art focuses on separating bones at the joints: a well placed stroke from this technique can sever the spinal cord, dislocate limbs, and generally ruin the functions of an opponent’s body. It involves placing the fist near the target area, and wrenching the fist in a different direction. This stretches the ligaments, tendons, and muscles at the joint, usually pulling the two bones away from each other.
Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25): Dismantling Strike: The one and only technique in Eoghan’s fighting style. He holds his fist right up to the target’s joint, and then twists his fist and pulls it away. This causes the bones making the joint to separate, causing pain and incapacitation in that limb.
Weapons/Items: Fist Blades
Character Flaws: Eoghan’s main weakness is ranged combat: he doesn’t usually carry around a bow everywhere he goes, so he can’t put his bowmanship to good use. Eoghan usually tries to work with Fionn, and without Fionn, he usually gets slightly worried due to the distraction of Fionn not helping.
Goals: Serve his country as well as possible.
