Appearance: Caine is about six feet tall, maybe just a little under. He has thin brown hair, and a well trimmed goatee. His eyes are blue. He is extremely fit for his age and has a well toned body. He wears a leather tunic and pants; and always has a pair of well worn boots. There are some pouches inside the tunic where even some daggers are held. On his belt are two long knives on either hip.
History: Caine had a very boring and safe childhood. He was raised by moderately wealthy merchants and lived in a good home. When he was 14 he met the girl of his dreams, Shanna. When Caine was 18 he married Shanna and took her into the business of sea trade. Being a sea trader he learned some fighting techniques but was not overly good with them. He and his wife lived a happy life that was free of strife. Until Caine was 35 and a stranger came to port.
The stranger found out that Caine was one of the best traders in East Blue and asked to see his wares. While perusing the merchandise he came across a very ornate pistol. He asked Caine where he got such a magnificent pistol and was told that it came from a man who had very high gambling debts and needed some money. The stranger became very interested at that and began to ask questions about the man. It turned out that he seller of the pistol was the stranger’s father. He said that he wanted to buy the gun back because his father had given up gambling and it would be a nice present. But, as Caine told the stranger that there was another buyer that was offering a very large price for the pistol, the stranger became angry. He was outraged at the price of the pistol and said that he would only pay much less than the pistol was worth. Caine informed him that he could not sell the pistol for such a price. It was then that the stranger drew a sword.
He commanded Caine to give him the pistol or he would kill him. Caine called for the guards of the town. And as he did so his wife came into the cargo hold. The stranger quickly took Shanna hostage by holding a sword to her throat. Caine pleaded for the stranger to let her go, and he would give him the pistol for free. The stranger said that it was too late and that Caine had to pay a price for trying to swindle the stranger out of his money. Caine got on his knees and begged the stranger to take anything he wanted from the hold, if he would only let his wife go. The stranger let Shanna go after that but as she was rushing towards her husband he stabbed her through the stomach.
Shanna fell forwards into Caine’s arms bleeding profusely. At this point Caine lost it. The only thing he remembers from the fight was standing up and rushing at the stranger. When he finally regained his senses the stranger lay mangled on the floor, with blood splattering the walls. Caine noticed that there were 5 other people in the hold now all of them were dead. He heard his wife sobbing and tried to reach out for her. However nothing happened. Caine had lost both of his arms and his legs were trapped under a shipping crate. Shanna crawled over to Caine and pulled his head into her arms. He then began to cry. He unleashed a terrible scream that was so sad people in the town began to weep. During her final moments Shanna put her hand on Caine’s face and told him quietly. “SSSSHHHHHHHH. There is no need to cry. I hate it when you cry. Caine, I want you to continue to live. Don’t you go dying on me. You live your life with no more sadness. The only tears you should ever shed are tears of joy.” And then she died.
Caine was found by a doctor right after his wife’s death. The doctor was stunned that Caine was even alive. Luckily there was another doctor in town who happened to be a cyberneticist. He took Caine’s body and fixed him up. When Caine awoke again he could feel his hands. He thought to himself that it must have been a terrible dream. It was then that the doctor came in and told Caine what had happened. Caine had somehow taken down a notorious band of brigands singlehandedly. However he had taken significant damage and the victory cost his all of his limbs. It was a miracle that Caine was even alive afterwards. The doctor then explained that he had to replace most of Caine with cyborg parts. Caine was much stronger and faster and had a bunch of neat features. Before the doctor could explain everything Caine got up and left. All he could think about was his wife’s last moment.
Caine took his wife’s words to heart. He gave a very beautiful eulogy at Shanna’s funeral. The day after the funeral he took his ship and sailed off to the Grandline. It was on one of the islands that he met a very old man. This man was the wise elder of his village and saw right away that Caine was hurting. He took Caine to his home and made him a meal. After the meal he asked Caine why he was so sad. Caine replied that he could never be sad again because it was his wife’s dying wish. The old man inquired as to how she died, and Caine told him the story of how a stranger took his wife’s life over a pistol. The old man sat in silence during the whole story, and as it finished told Caine that he could teach him how to never lose another person he loved again.
As it turned out the old man was a Krav Maga master. He taught Caine everything he knew. Caine also learned all of the abilities that had been implanted into his body and how to use them. After four years of training the old man had taught Caine everything. He wished Caine good luck on his journey. Caine then left that island and began his travels. Caine traveled to many islands but never stayed for too long. He picked up a weird habit of laughing at everything. Caine did it because it kept the tears away and he would honor his wife’s wishes and never cry. People began to call him the Joker because he was always laughing.
Personality: Caine loves to laugh, almost to the point of insanity. Even when a normal person would cry or get angry Caine will laugh. Whenever asked about it he will just laugh at the questioner and dismiss the question. He is very headstrong and does not always do as he is told. He tends to be violent when in battle, but he still laughs.
