Name: Tero Fushigi
Age: 27
Bounty: 0
Species: Human
Occupation: Marine Captain
Allegiance: Marines
Home Ocean: Believed to be the Grand Line
Appearance: Tero is a huge man. He stands at seven feet and six inches in height. He has short, black hair and dark brown eyes. He is only lightly tanned, having spent years indoors when he was being trained. He is incredibly muscular, but it is hidden under his marine uniform. That’s another thing. He wears just a simple Marine uniform. He does not wear anything fancy, like a captain’s cape, except for formal occasions. Tero has many scars from an intense training regime. The most visible of these scars are on his face and arms. Tero carries his weapons out in the open and rarely removes them from his person other than the times when he sleeps. He keeps his gun on his left hip and his sword on his right.
History: Tero was born on an island in the Grand Line, or so he has been told. He does not actually know where he came from and he does not believe the story that the marines cooked up for him. His earliest memories are from when he was about five years old. He remembers the sound of a woman's voice. She was just talking to him, but he could still hear the love in her voice. After that his memory is a blank up until when he was twenty. Then all he can remember is training day in and day out. He was put through gun practice and sword fighting classes. He was trained to never flinch in the face of death. The training was brutal, but Tero stayed tough and endured the pain. There were others training with him, but many of them died from sheer exhaustion, wounds, and things that Tero does not speak of. These others were like Tero in some ways. They too were tall and well muscled. And they were all male. (There is a very good reason for this and it is not a sexist one.) Tero met with many of the others for dueling practice on a regular basis, but these sessions were brief. During one of those times he learned that the others also suffered memory loss, like him.
After five long years, a large group of Marine soldiers, who were led by a Vice Admiral, came and attacked the base. They captured the base and Tero and the other trainees were taken to the Marine HQ. They were informed that they had been used in an experiment by a high ranking Marine officer, who had been trying to create super soldiers to take over the World Government. Of course, when the Marine HQ had found out about this, they dealt with it immediately and the officer had been executed. After this explanation, the trainees were then ordered not to speak of what had happened to them and they were set free, but before they left they were all given an opportunity to join the ranks of the Marines on a more official basis. Since all they knew was how to fight, the majority of the trainees, including Tero, joined up.
Tero has done well in the Marines. He has served and fought on many campaigns, most of them against pirates. He made a few friends among his fellow soldiers. He enjoyed his life, despite it being filled with almost constant death and destruction.
It all took a downward turn when Tero’s best friend turned traitor. Apparently he was a revolutionary who had infiltrated the Marines to get info on them. Tero and the rest of his unit were ordered to track the guy, Eric, back to the people he was informing and they were supposed to take him down along with any other revolutionaries who got in their way. The mission went well at first. Tero was held back in reserve since he was so big and would be spotted if he tried to track someone. He thought he wouldn’t have to fight his friend. Then things went bad again. Eric learned that he had been found out and there was a large group of revolutionaries waiting for the Marines who were tracking them. Those of the Marines who were not killed were pinned down and held under heavy fire. Tero went with the reserves to save them. The reserves highest ranking officer was killed and Tero was forced to take command. He risked his own life and almost single-handedly wiped out the revolutionaries. As he troops mopped up the enemy’s remnants, Tero saw Eric and took him on. The two of them fought long and hard. Neither could convince the other to stop what they were doing and in the end, Tero dealt the finishing blow by blasting a hole through Eric’s chest with his gun. As Eric lay dying, he gave Tero his nodachi and asked him to take care of his sister, Sarah. Tero promised he would and sat with his friend until his life faded. Tero was promoted to Sergeant for his quick action in this battle. However, things were never the same for Tero. He soon left his division and searched for other opportunities.
In present day, Tero is part of the Phoenix Squad. He has done his best to overcome his past, but he now finds it much harder to get close to anyone. He stills looks after Sarah, Eric’s sister. He even got her a job with the Marines so that he could keep a closer eye on her, though admittedly her brother’s reputation does not allow her to go very far.
Personality: Tero is a quiet man. He does not open up often, even when he wants too. He is still a very kind person, despite what he went through. However, that does not mean he was not negatively affected by the training. In the heat of battle, Tero goes quiet and moves towards an opponent calmly. He deals with them in whatever way he can and then moves on to the next person. In those situations he is cold and efficient. Death does not affect him and pain means little. He is considered by many of those he has fought against and with to be a monster. Of course, nothing could be farther from the truth. He is a man in pain. He has been hurt by what he has had to do and what he has gone through, even if he doesn’t always show it. Also Tero loves Sarah and does not discourage her from calling him big brother. He likes to think of himself in that way: as a protector or a guardian.
Special Abilities:
Strength: He is incredibly strong. He can break metal with his bare hands.
Endurance: He is durable. Pain does not faze him much and so he will throw himself heedlessly into the midst of battle.
Learned Techniques:
Blade Rush: Tero uses soru to dash around his opponent several times while delivering slashes with his sword. This technique is fast and hard to completely avoid or block, but using it for too long wears Tero out.
Tekkai: The Tekkai hardens the users' muscles to the level of iron, in order to nullify damage taken from attacks.
Geppo: The Geppo allows the users to actually jump off the air itself, allowing them to stay in the air for much longer than usual.
Shigan: The Shigan is a close-quarter combat technique, in which the user pushes their finger into a certain target at a very high speed, leaving a wound similar to a bullet wound, making guns unnecessary.
Soru: The Soru allows the users to move at extremely high speeds in order to avoid attacks, as well as to attack at higher speeds and with greater power, as being faster than the speed of lightning.
Weapons:
Armor GunIzumishimoGoal: To find his place in this world and remember his past.
