dang it how did ace get his DF!?! I suspect dragon gave it to him during the fire but there was no confirmation of that fact

I think he just got it at some point as the captain of the Spade pirates, Luffy was surprized to see Ace being a fruit user when they met in the Alabasta Kingdom. So, he got it after he left to become a pirate, not before.

then I guess we'll never see that now...

Mhm, this chapter makes me want more. One of the aspects of One Piece that has really kept me hooked was the relationships of the crew members, and the possibility that they may get back together relatively soon has me stoked. I've missed their antics for a while now.

And about the meeting spot that Luffy mentions on page 18, is he referring to where Raleigh is coating their ship? I just hope it doesn't take another large number of chapters for each of them to actually get there, if that's the case.

Well they are spread in a very large area, I mean, 2 of them, Chopper and Robin arent even in the Grand Line anymore, so normally it will take a lot of time. But maybe Oda will speed it up, like putting small but reasonable time skips or so.
