Squirming in her bed, squeezing her eyes closed against the caws of the gulls, Alysia drew the covers closer around her, curling her body up to impress the warmth of her final moments in the bed upon her before sighing heavily and rolling over onto her side.
"Ow!"
Turning once more onto her back she looked up at the edge of the bed and sighed once more before standing, her hand grasping the wooden frame of the bunk as she pulled herself up. Heading to the washstand in the corner she began to brush her teeth, staring blearily into the mirror, casting her purple hair behind her ears with a distracted flick of her neck. Moving over to the window she stared out at the busy market below, her gaze drifting to her much depleted gold pouch as she sipped from a cup on the window sill and rinsed her mouth, before squirting the liquid out of the window into the street below, ducking inside and laughing at the sudden shout from a passerby.
Shrugging herself into her chainmail shirt, gathering her belongings, her eyes kept straying to a double-ended length of bladed metal in the corner of her room. Smiling slightly, she remembered her first visit here to Logue Town, and the way in which Inochi had been crafted for her. Resolving to visit the blacksmith before leaving, she made her way out into the market.
Moving through the tumult, mentally ticking off the things to do before the end of the day, lips moving as she cycled through her plans, she began to realise the flow of people was slowing. Raising her head she saw a large mass of people gathered around the opening to a side-street. Glancing over her shoulder back at the stall she had just passed, she turned and reached for a dagger from amongst the display and examined it. The wizened vendor's head snapped up from the book where he had been writing with an audible crack. Hobbling over, with a calculating look, he let out a shocked gasp, recoiling in surprise as she picked up another and plunged the first into one of the roof supports of his stall. Winking at him, she leapt up amongst the assorted weaponry, thrusting the second dagger higher up the strut and took her weapon in her hand. Looking down, she saw the fear in the man's eyes and softened slightly, sliding a coin from her purse out and tossing it to the man, regretting it instantly as the fear turned to instant greed. Throwing Inochi above her, she ran up her improvised steps, grabbing it midair and lunged downwards, splintering the roof of the stall with the sudden impact as she impaled Inochi into the wood, swinging around to land in a crouch, surveying the scene before her, ignoring the frightened yelp and whimper of the merchant below.
