The Wyrm Chaser
Description: A heavy two-hander weapon similar to a monk's spade, except with a guandao polearm blade at one end, and a bec-de-corbin halberd blade at the other. At the middle of the weapon is an extendable and retracting chain, which attaches to a handguard that is worn over the wielder's gauntlets, and has a variety of uses, from countering disarm attacks to using the weapon as a grappling hook if the wielder has the strength to throw it.
Special Abilities:
Raging Whirlwind - The user engages a crowd of enemies, spinning around furiously with the weapon, causing one end of it to slash, while the other end crushes with its hammer edge. However, it is ineffective against smaller groups of enemies and easily avoidable by a lone attacker.
Dragon Fang - Using an immense amount of strength and effort, the wielder throws the weapon so it swiftly spins in the air, and the chain extends, allowing the weapon to hook onto almost anything that it lands on. The utility of this attack is nearly endless. A warrior could use it for relocation to higher ground, by hooking onto a tall structure or onto a cliff face. An escaping enemy or ship could be hooked onto, preventing them from moving any further. If unseen, it could also be used for ambush, to hook an unsuspecting enemy and drag them towards the warrior, or to help with boarding by climbing onto the side of another ship. Difficult to use while surrounded, as the wielder must spin the weapon while standing still to charge up this move.
Wing Attack - The user leaps forward and strikes with the bladed edge and the hooked edge at the same time, while striking the enemy in front of him with the pole of the weapon/the wielder's gauntlets in a fist. Used for countering flank attacks, and stunning enemies that are in front of the wielder. Can also be used to setup for an aerial combo attack.
Impale - While in the air, the wielder dives forward, and stabs downward with the weapon, attempting to carve the enemy in half. Best used as a finisher move, to kill off a weakened or disabled enemy.
Dragon Claw - While in the air, the wielder dives forward, and slashes downward with the weapon, either attempting to crush the enemy with the hammer edge, tear at them with the hook edge like a scythe, or make a clean and swift cut with the blade. The force of this attack varies from situation to situation as well as how it is executed.
History: This weapon was crafted by a master of the dragoon fighting style. Though most lancers would find this heavy weapon unwieldy, it allows them to emulate more of a dragon's natural melee abilities even better. The utility of this weapon is deadly in the hands of a seasoned fighter. The weapon is extremely heavy, and requires not only intense conditioning to handle, but leaves the user unable to equip other armaments, mainly ranged and defensive ones. To wear armor while wielding this weapon would severely cut the wielder's agility, and leave them a sitting duck in the midst of a battlefield. Thus, despite its numerous offensive capabilities, this weapon prevents the user from defending except by parrying attacks or by dodging them. An opponent skilled with hit-and-run tactics as well as ranged attacking would also cause a disadvantage for the wielder of this weapon, forcing them to fight with more unconventional means.
