Name: Warhammer Armstrong
Creator: Elizabeth Armstrong
Owner: To be determined.
Type: Weapon
Appearance: A large rectangle comprised primarily of high grade steel. The large slab of steel is roughly four feet long by two feet wide and deep. In the middle of the slab a large hole is filled by a pole of the same material. The pole or the handle of the hammer is nearly six feet in length. A fine point or spike is located at the bottom of the handle; the spike is nearly three inches long. Just above the place where the spike begins a leather grip wrap is wrapped in a spiraling motion going up towards the hammer. On top of the leather wrap a set of hand grips are placed at the balance point show the user where best to hold the hammer. Under the hand grips a set of pressure release triggers are covered making them impossible to use for anyone without immense strength. The hammer has sets of ridges on the ends that number twelve by six on both sides of the hammer. A small holding device seems to have been carved into both ends of the hammer exactly in the middle of the attacking ends. Seated in the two devices are two shell like pieces of Skypian technology.
One of the devices holds an impact dial while the other holds a reject dial. The holding devices seem to have been carved when the metal was still molten as the metal seals the dials in perfectly as if the dials and the hammer had always been one. The hammer would likely have to be destroyed in order for either of the dials was ever removed. The dials are connected to the trigger set by an unknown set of devices implanted into the hammer during the forging process. Both the hammer and the handle are extremely heavy by the standards of traditional weaponry; the hammer weighs around 75lbs while the handle is around 25lbs making it all but impossible for any to actually pick up the hammer by the handle and hold it the way it was intended without near super human strength. Just to pick up the hammer at the bottom of the handle the wielder would have to be able to dead lift over 300 plus pounds. For the hammer to be used with any precision the user would need 80% strength or higher.
Use: The primary use of this weapon is to smash shit... It can however be used for things like block on coming attacks and pushing enemies back. The hammer has two triggers built into the handle area that trigger the release of the stored up kinetic energy in the two dials. Located on the higher section of the handle, the impact dial's trigger is triggered by placing roughly 60% grip strength on to that specific area. Near the bottom of the handle (where someone would hold it to get the most momentum out of the swing) the trigger for the reject dial is set under a particularly thick section of hand grips. To use the rejection dial trigger the wielder must apply a minimum of 90% pressure to trigger the dials release of energy. If the user doesn't have the strength equal to or greater than the 10x's boosted rejection or regular impact the output of the hammer will come back at a force reduced by the users total strength and hit the user, likely in the chest. Luckily the hammers biggest weakness will likely neutralize the impact. As the impact and reject dials are firmly affixed to the ends of the hammer, the hammer actually does no damage until the triggers are activated due to the dials absorbing all of the kinetic energy.
Special abilities: +20 smashing damage/Strength Stat. The hammer is made from steel alloy as hard as diamond class weapons. Impact/Rejection dials kinetic energy absorption and release from impacts on either end of the hammer.
History: Rumor has it there once was a queen who reigned over the norther snowcapped mountains. She was naught a queen by blood or marriage, but a queen of force and loyalty. Vice Admiral Elizabeth Armstrong was in charge of the military fort Northern Peak, the northern most outpost controlled by the marines. Northern peak was a harsh and mountainous region where only true monsters could survive. Just south of the base, stood the mountain the facility was named after; Northern Peak. It was by far the largest mountain in the hellishly cold region. The summer time days reached ahead at a brisk 50 degrees while the nights often dipped to near freezing temperatures. During winter the coldest temperature on the planet were often recorded by the inhabitants of the base.
No one including the Vice Admiral that ran the outpost knew exactly why there was a base in such a barren environment. To pass the time the soldiers would often take to the mountainside to hunt down the monsters in the area. The hunters would always claim that the hunts were necessary for the safety of the base; a way to keep the number of monsters in the area down. It was nothing but a farce in order to keep the funding for the ammunition, weapons, and supplies used in the hunts. Elizabeth not only condoned the behavior, but also participated in every last hunt. The glory of the hunt became a common talking point for the marines stationed at Northern Peak. Stories of the Vice Admirals deeds and accomplishments quickly gained her the admiration and undying loyalty of every single man under her command.
One particularly harsh winter massive snow accumulation closed all paths to the fort. Out of necessity rather than boredom the marines began increasing the number of hunts around the mountains. They dredged through the harsh wind and snow tracking their prey. Despite the increased number of hunts the parties began to bring back less and less meat every time. It soon became apparent that the meager supplies they had left would not last through the rest of the exceptionally long winter. Whether the marines over hunted the area or whether the weather was so harsh it drove all of the monsters deep into their dwellings is unknown. What is known is what happened next is usually saved for the pages of fairy tales.
With the situation looking bleak, Vice Admiral Elizabeth Armstrong took a detachment of men comprised of everyone in the base that still had the strength to stand towards Northern Peak. Climbing higher and higher the detachment found little in the way a resources. They made camp a ways below the peak to settle in for the night. While the made chewed on scraps of leather sitting around fires all bundled up trying to stay warm; the Vice Admiral was climbing higher. Elizabeth made it to the peak, a feat that most experienced climbers would have trouble with in perfect conditions. The situation if anything was a perfect disaster. For the first time in her life since she was but a child the female marine that had to work twice as hard as her male counterparts showed emotion. She howled like a wounded beast; a howl that echoed throughout the mountaintops. As if in a direct response to the queen Northern Peak the very earth below them began to rumble. Snow packed tightly against the mountain below the position of the marine’s base camp began to shift. An avalanche pulled the marine base camp down the mountain, the inhabitants had virtually no time to react as the ground beneath their feet just fell.
A feeling of horror and dread spread through the might female marine’s entire body. She quickly descended the mountain towards the place where the snow from the avalanche settled. Climbing down she noticed a massive opening in the side of the mountain hat had been covered by the snow. With the fate of her men in the balance Elizabeth didn't give it a second thought and continued down the mountain. By the time she made it to the bottom most of her men had dug themselves out of the snow. Miraculously there wasn't a single casualty. To most an incident like that would be the final straw causing them to give up. However to the might queen of the marines it was a sign; a sign that not even Mother Nature or even god could bring them down. With a new faith and drive the Vice Admiral rallied her men just as a piercing cry was heard reverberating through the area.
Dragons, at least a thousand of them poured out from the opening in the mountain. The monstrous lizards had laid dormant in the old inactive volcano for hundreds of years; in a deep hibernated sleep caused by the sheer cold. Only when the volcano erupts would the beasts come out to hunt and rain down terror upon the world once more. Now because of the desperate howl from the queen of the mountains the snow sealing them in had been removed and the sleeping death had awakened once more. The dragons flew throughout the land hunting, hungry from all the years of cold slumber. There was naught a monster or beast around for them to feed upon, besides the humans. With no other prey available in the area the dragon hoard attacked the detachment. Elizabeth ordered the detachment to retreat back to the base. As the hightailed it out of there, the dragons swooped down grabbing men and carrying them off into sky or rained fire down roasting several men alive at the same time. As more and more bodies hit the ground the less the dragon's attacked making it easier for the remaining members of the detachment to escape.
Once inside the base fortifications began to go up and the remaining supplies were distributed and consumed to give them at least a fighting chance. At daybreak a dark cloud raced towards the fort, a cloud comprised of countless dragons. For a weeks the marines battle the dangerous reptiles, using the slain as resources to continue the fight. One the seventh and final day the king of the mountains attacks. A massive dragon bigger than any of the rest three times the size of any of the others went to battle, toe to toe with the queen of the mountains herself. On that day the last dragon was struck down. From the bounty of the spoils of war the Vice Admiral commissioned the creation of a weapon mighty enough to withstand her onslaught. Steel forged from the iron contained in the blood of over 1000 dragons melded with their metal like scales ground into a powder was to be shaped and made into a mighty Warhammer, the Warhammer Armstrong.
One week after the battle a shipment of supplies finally made it through the snow packed trails. Along with the supplies a messenger carried a mission brief directly from the World Government. It was a message for the eyes of the Vice Admiral only, a message that was likely even kept secret from the three admirals. It depicted the layout for a top-secret government experiment that would attempt to weaponize the dormant dragons in the nearby volcano. The entire reason for the bases existence was due to the planned research. Orders were given to execute any person that would attempt to slay any of the dragons. The safety of the research material was to be the highest priority and that even the madam Vice Admiral’s life would be forfeit if any harm came to them.
An advanced scouting party of World Government agents was sent to investigate the disappearance of the messenger and the envoy that carried the supplies. Upon arriving they found the base was deserted save a few corpses. The men lying dead in the snow were later identified as the messenger and the delivery envoy. A partially burnt set of orders detailing the plans to weaponize the dragons was found in the Vice Admiral’s quarters. Further investigation found that the dragons, freed by an apparent avalanche were all gone as well. No signs of a battle or struggle were found, anything of the sort would have likely been buried deep under the snow anyway. There were no signs of the marines leaving in any particular direction with in a 15 mile radius of the base. They just disappeared.
The remained of the history is left to be told in thread for those who seek out this weapon.
