Orson was a quiet, contemplative boy, who would always finish his meals and clean up his messes. However, he continually shunned the company of children his old age, save that of his little sister, whom he adored. When he came of age, his father forced him into the Marines, as was the tradition for the males of his family; an act which he resented the man for greatly. But the decision had turned out for the best, for just a short time later, a terrible contagion spread across his island. Hundreds were infected in the span of just a few hours, and soon, the streets were filled with the sick and indolent. Ships were ordered to stop sailing to Merric, and the entire region was placed under a strict quarantine indefinitely. Orson begged and pleaded to return to his home and help his family, but his superiors refused. After several attempts to sneak past the quarantine, they had no other choice but to place him in prison until he gave his word not to set foot on that island until the area had been deemed safe. Several months later, Orson left confinement, and returned to service a changed man. Long, sleepless nights had embedded a new goal into his mind. He wasn’t just going to cure the people of his home; he was going to conquer sickness itself.
A decade and a half later, Orson has become a widely respected doctor, to marines and pirates alike. Many a prisoner will be arrested on his death bed, sure that he has escaped the punishment of the law, only to awaken good as new in his cell, ready to serve the full extent of his sentence. But, for all his work and accomplishment, he still cannot manage to cure the pestilence which plagues his people night and day.
Personality:
Externally, Orson has changed little from the days he spent back on Merric. He is always polite and courteous, never arriving anywhere late or ill-prepared (Though, he sometimes still looks rather out-of-sorts). But, behind that, he is immensely driven towards finding a cure for his family, often casting aside his own interests in order to further his research. Many years of being dragged into social situations have forced him to become more open, though he still likes to, from time to time, lock himself up for several days and just think to himself. He is kind almost to the point of being self-sacrificing, and often ends up doing chores for people who are too lazy to do them themselves. He also has a cat named Virgil.
Devil Fruit: Furu Furu no Mi
Type: Paramecia
Effect: Allows the user to generate vibrations from any part of his body, which can be light enough to jiggle a lock or strong enough to knock over a house.
At one point during his career, a prisoner tricked Orson into eating the Quake Quake fruit in the hopes of destroying the evidence of his crimes. The man’s ploy, while one of ill intent, ended beneficially for the doctor, and he eventually learned how to apply his newfound abilities to his profession.
Devil's Fruit Techniques:
1. Furu Furu no Shindou
The most basic principle of the Furu Furu no Mi, Orson begins to vibrate a part of his body, usually his arms, with phenomenal strength. This can be used as a precursor to larger techniques, or simply used on its own for simpler tasks (i.e. shaking a bottle, escaping from manacles, and onsuch).
2. Furu Furu no Mahi
A medical technique Orson developed after experimenting with his power. Focusing his power onto his hands, he touches a subject lightly, causing numbness due to the repetitive vibration.
3. Furu Furu no Reza
A medical technique Orson developed after experimenting with his power. By focusing intently on just vibrating one hand, he can create an ultrasonic effect which vastly enhances the cutting ability of his scalpels, which allows for less invasive surgeries.
4. Furu Furu no Boutou
After several most troublesome experiences with unruly patients, Orson developed a technique to concentrate his power into his thumb, pointer, and middle finger. After building up enough kinetic energy, he releases it with a thunderous snap, sending out a strong shockwave which can fling a person across the room.
5. Biggu Bouto
A larger version of the Furu Furu no Boutou, which involves much the same principle, only with two hands instead of one.
6. Furu Furu no Osu
An improvised technique Orson developed after a sudden blast of wind threw him off the ship. Using the resulting explosive force of the Furu Furu no Bouto, he can send himself flying, even if he is already falling in another. He can temporarily defeat gravity through repeated use of this, however, it’s a great deal more difficult than one would expect.
7. Furu Furu no Nosu
The culmination of about 10 seconds worth of thought, Orson turns the Furu Furu no Mahi to more offensive purposes. After making contact with a target, he ramps up the vibration in his hand to his highest levels, and causes an opponent to lose feeling in their entire body.
8. Furu Furu no Suramu
Similar to Furu Furu no Nosu, Orson charges his hand with all the force he can muster, and then delivers a crushing punch to his target.
Special Abilities: Accomplished physician, with a particular emphasis on disease and, due to the nature of his employment, stitching people back together.
Weapons/Items: Scalpels, medical supplies.
Goals: To discover a Panacea, a substance that can cure anything.
