Name: Shunori Aru
Age: 17
Bounty: 0
Species: Human
Occupation: Freelance Shooter
Allegiance: None as of yet.
Home Village/Ocean: East Blue
Appearance: Shunori is a 5'9 tall 17 year old, weighing at about 129 lbs, he is an albino and typically has pastry white akin, pale white hair and shocking red eyes. Lean and fit, Shunori is actually very athletic despite his very non-athletic looking body considering he is rather skinny and pale for a kid his age. He usually wears white clothing with a white suit under his shirt and shorts and cloak, which he wears most of the time for sentimental reasons that will be explained in history, and gray boots. He carries around his bow or straps it to his back and his quiver with arrows is strapped around his waist instead of his back like most archers would.
History: “Shuno!”
“Shuno! It’s time for dinner! Hurry before your mom has a cow!”
A dark skinned man walked through the woods, looking left and right for the “Shuno” he was calling and couldn’t seem to spot the young child—
Th-Thunk!
He blinked and looked to the tree that had a rather messy bull’s eye on it and spotted the arrow that landed next to the dead middle center and he smirked before pulling out the little wooden stick with feathers on the end and smirked to the fake bush next to the tree.
“I see you, troublemaker.”
A little pale boy, of no more than six, crawled out of the bush and took off the straps that connected the bunches of leaves to his wrists and ankles and back and he picked up a wooden bow that was set upon the ground and the three other arrows he possessed. The boy strolled over and hugged his dad’s leg. The tough man laughed and scooped up the young white haired child. Young Shuno blinked and stared up at his papa with big red eyes before smiling just a little. Tussling his young one’s head, he walked back to the cottage where they stayed.
Shunori grew up rather normally besides the running off into the woods with a tiny wooden bow and his father who used to be quite skilled in the arts of archery and gun slinging. Shunori took more interest in the classic bow and grew up learning how to pull back and aim carefully. He was the best out of the village in try outs and often has to hold himself back before he got carried away. The albino was always quiet even when he was young and tended not to really get connected to other people.. he found himself constantly being left out of other games that the kids would play and to distract himself, he would go walk through the woods and shoot at targets he set up himself over the years. Triggers to make bull’s eyes come from the branches of trees as he ran through the woods and pop out behind bushes every time he made a corner and each time, he would shoot, it gradually became harder and harder to keep the arrow from landing directly inside the dead center. He was successful and had grown well with his training. He was never open to death, he was never really one to notice anything unusual especially when he was in his younger years but eventually he found that he would have to learn eventually. One day, just as he was returning home, he noticed an off quiet around the domain and instantly suspected something. No training in the world could have prepared him for what was inside. His mother lay dead upon the floor. She was gone. She would not wake up. She was just…not there anymore…in some sort of trance. Shocked and completely taken aback from the horrible sight of blood and death and gore, he didn’t notice his father’s presence till the old man came up behind him and grabbed the nine year (at the time) and ran off, grabbing a horse from their farm and flinging the small frail boy aboard before climbing on himself. Hitching another steed to the first, they set off. To where, Shunori knew not but he was too in shock at the time to even be curious about where they were going to end up. Just that his mother was gone. Taken from his life. He was never going to see her again…
Shunori and his father retreated to a busy old town that was bigger than their home and stayed inside an inn while his father healed his injuries and calmed down the frightened albino child. Shunori never expected this outcome. Never in his life. He didn’t understand why his mother had to die. She died for no reason. That’s what he believed at first until his father began to tell him a very different story. His father was an assassin, he was in debt, he had retired from his life of killing people without mercy and instead sought to live a normal life, meet the love of his life, raise some kids, live in a nice small house that was still cozy and overlooked the sea. Shunori learned that the men were coming after them now because his father still has debts to pay and they would not leave him alone till they got the money out of him and would kill anyone close to him before killing his father too because the money would not be able to retrieve. Scared by his father’s past and horrified that he was never told this, he stayed away from him in the small room they rented and didn’t move till he was sure that his father was asleep. He strapped his quiver and his bow and slipped away, he was scared and he wasn’t thinking clearly, he didn’t notice the three men that were following him in the dark. Not till one jumped from the roof and onto the ground in front of him. they demanded that he come with them but Shunori’s instincts took over his fright and he drew an arrow onto the slim wooden bow. He shot and he ran. Scared to kill and afraid to become a murderer like his father, he aimed for the knee and ran around the man as he went down. They gave chase and drew weapons, intending to kill this young boy who was barely old enough to be a man. Scared, yet stoic, Shunori only ran faster, and tried to outwit his pursuers, he was young but he was cunning and calculating. He ran through places that grown men wouldn’t hope to crawl through and dropped things around him as he crashed down the allies to slow them down. He would hide in the shadows as best as he could then stride down a completely different direction. But he was young. And it didn’t take the men long at all till they finally had him cornered in a dark back alley. Breathing hard and sides hurting, he all bu collapsed on the wall and faced his persistent chasers. With wicked grins did they slowly begin to approach him, he drew an arrow and bit his lip because he knew if he were to shoot one then the others were going to attack him. kill him. like they did his mother. Gripping tightly to his bow, he fought back tears and waited as they approached.
Suddenly a loud crack came from nowhere and one of the men was on the ground with his neck twisted in an odd angle. Shunori nearly felt the urge to puke at the gruesome sight and looked away to the other men who soon were attacked with a near invisible force. His father had come to rescue him, he attacked the strange men with lightning speed and quick swords, and soon they were dead just like the first. Shunori was terrified but he knew better now than to leave his father’s side. The old tanned man hugged the poor pale child and got them out of there as quickly as possible.
For years, they have been running, going from city to city and town to town, staying away from being in big places for too long and getting comfortable in small places that were cozy and home-like. It wasn’t until Shunori was fifteen that he woke up one day and realized that something was terribly, terribly wrong. Glancing around the small cottage his father had rented on an area that supported people staying in homes on a 500 acre farm, he noticed an absence in the home. Getting up and walking around did he noticed that he was, indeed, alone. His father…was gone. Not dead gone but…gone…as if he was never there. His stuff was missing, his clothes and shoes and weapons were missing and there was simply no sign of him to be found anywhere. Except for a small paper and a silver hand watch lying on top of it with an engraving of a dove on the top; sitting down in a chair at the table where these things lie, he saw that his father had left him.
“...for the sake of his safety...They would meet another day. So as long as he remained a strong, brave man that I know you can be. You need no more lessons from me. I realized that I was only leading them further and further after you. I will repay my debts somehow. But you will no longer be involved. It’s time for you to set out and find your own future because running away with an old man...is no longer or rather never was...your future.”
An apology and “Love you” later, Shunori was surprised to feel something falling down his face. He was alone...on his own. In a big world. He didn’t know where to start, shocked and feeling rather betrayed, he gripped the silver watch and walked to the front door to see if he could spot his old man in the distance but instead, a long white cloak hung front the front door. Taken by surprise, he remembered that his father had worn this every now and then. He picked it up off the hook and walked to the living room and sat on the couch, inspecting the soft white material and hugged it. Being the child he was on the inside, he laid down and gripped the remains of his father.
After a few days of wallowing in his self pity, Shunori finally gained enough courage to say goodbye to the cottage and leave. He figured that he would have to go and do something but he didn’t know what. Traveling to a small island, he figured he might as well look for someone with a boat so he could expand his horizons as it were. On the back of the letter that his father had told him to find someone with a boat and even go so far as to find a crew. Though he knew he had to do this, he figured that he was going to do it for the sake of being protected by a crew because if those people came back, he didn’t have enough courage to actually be able to do such a thing.
Shunori now, after traveling and pretty much sneaking on and off ships to get to destinations, he does odd jobs and hunts for animals to collect money and will even go after weak criminals to make sure he had food on his plate. On the newest island he was visiting, he bought a horse and some food an decided to explore the island for it was different and rather huge for the ones that he had visited before. He never could when he was with his father. The albino figured he would stick around. And then he would look for a crew to join.
Personality: Shunori is a quiet lad, he isn't really one to open up to strangers unless he is forced to trust them out of bad situations which he seems to constantly find himself in. He is normally a rather bland and plain person for a kid with a devil fruit and a bounty and being an albino and all. Shunori also has a strange habit of not being noticed, despite his looks and all, crowds don't seem to really take notice to him at all. It's strange and unusual but considering his devil fruit power which contradicts so much with his looks, it matches perfectly for his personality. Though, he seems rather....emotionless, he has a strong sense of justice and would help anyone in need. He has a tendency to be distracted by cute and shiny things like some sort of cat and can only be dead serious when his bow is drawn and his arrow has a target. In some cases, the teen has been known to express more than what his face can show, he is rather open to the ones he trusts and he tends to have a motherly side to him to the ignorant and the young ones even though he himself is young. He has a short fuse for childishness and will act either aggressively or physically or harshly verbally since he does seem to have a sharp tongue even to his elders. Other than that, he is a very ordinary, very quiet teen.
Ship: name of shipShip Flag: describeDevil Fruit: Mato Mato no Mi
Type: Paramecia
Effect: The Mato Mato no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that makes the user capable of aiming at which ever "target" he decides upon from any location and at any time with anything at ease. "Mato" (的?) means mark or target in Japanese.
Shunori accidently ate the devil fruit that caused the sudden change in his shooting during the traveling with his father and didn’t really notice what was wrong until he fell into the ocean during an escape from more trackers that were after his father. Unable to swim because of a sudden weak feeling he found himself overcome with and was saved by his father who realized that something was wrong.
Special Abilities: Shunori has been training with a bow for quite a few years and is able to shoot extreme long distances and can shoot in any given situation.
Also very agile and athletic for his size.
Skilled in the art of deception to keep untrustworthy people away.
Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25): Shuno Chop; A rather simple, but precise hit to the head, neck, back, side, or leg. A strong hit that activates the devil fruit and marks the person hit.
Lock-On; Thanks to the Devil Fruit he ate, Shunori is able to mark a person and hit them (most of the time) without fail which only improves his shooting all the more though he must have had marked them with a pat from his hand.
Snipper Shot; A simple shoot from the bow with a single arrow.
Double Shot; A slightly more complex shot that requires Shuno to hold one or two arrows in his mouth and shoot one on the bow then quickly draw the other two one at a time to shoot quickly and as many as he can.
Multiple Shot; Shuno shoots five to six arrows at one time on his bow, pro is that they shoot out with more area to cover, con is he can’t really aim nor can he control where they go unless the devil fruit is activated.
Poison Shot; An arrow is shot with the tip coated in a poison that can either kill a person or sicken him.
Smoke Shot; An arrow with a smoke ball attacked to it that explodes upon landing.
Bomb Shot; An arrow with a bomb attacked to the tip that explodes upon landing or hit.
The Crafted Dagger; Shuno can’t always keep his needed distance in a fight so he has a dagger sheath on his leg that he uses for a quick attack or when someone gets to close and his bow is unusable.
Bow Attack; For attackers who get too close, he will actually use his bow to hit and attack which is rather useful because it was built for holding good hits and cannot be broken easily.
Weapons/Items: Long Bow, quiver of arrows, dagger (which he really only uses for crafting new arrows and cooking), a money pouch, some food, and a silver heirloom which really has no potential value besides being another sentiment.
Character Flaws: Shunori is not exactly perfect with tidy keepings like cleaning and such and tends to have a short temperature in quite a few given situations that involve his natural weaknesses like water because of the devil fruit. His one main flaw is that he absolutely detests his father being immature. He would stop in the middle of a serious face just to scold him for it. He could be within an inch of death and he would find his last legs just to shake some sense into the man. He is truly irrational at times and surprisingly has many flaws due to his short life and beginning to set out on a real journey.
Goals: To find his father and his future.
