Capabilities: The user of the Shinzui Shinzui no Mi has a semi-transparent semi-ethereal essence inside his body, following the shapes of the user's body about an inch under the skin. The essence, when inside the user's body, is as hard as steel. Parts of the essence (or even the whole essence) can be expanded outside the body up to four times the user's original body size (in length, not volume). The larger the expansion is, the more mass it gains, but the less dense and therefore more frail is becomes. At maximum size, the essence is about as hard as stone. Instead of enlargening the whole essence, only parts of it can be expanded. For example, instead of creating a full-body giant essence around him, the user can only expand the arms of his essence.

The essence, as noted, is semi-transparent and semi-ethereal. The more dense the essence is, the more opaque it is and when expanded just outside the body, it is almost fully opaque and the real body can barely be seen, but at full size the body can be spotted without trouble. The color of the essence can be decided by the user and can be switched whenever wanted. The semi-ethereality means that the essence is solid to all non-sentient objects, but to all sentient beings it is solid only if they consiously try to affect it. For example, if the essence is expanded outside the user's body and the user hits someone with it, it passes through them and their belongins without inflicting any damage. But if the target tries to consiously block the attack, the essence acts as solid. The essence is always solid inside the user's body, protecting the vital organs.

When expanded outside the body, the more dense it is, the more difficult it is to upkeep. For example, a full-size expansion could be upheld for ten posts, but if the essence would be expanded only an inch outside, it could only be upheld for two or three posts. These times are for full-body expansions and when only some parts of the body are enlargened, the essence can be upheld longer. For example, a full-size expansion of only two limbs at a time could be upheld indefinitely. If the expansion is upheld for too long, the powers can't be used for at least two posts.

If the essence gets damaged despite its added durability, the pain of the wounds on the essence is reflected on the user's actual body. For example, if the expanded essence gets hit with a cannonball, the hit is diminished but the user can still feel the pain. This gives the user added resistance to injuries, but does not make him completely immune to damage. If the essence gets cut, punctured or otherwise visibly damaged, a smaller-scale version of the injury will appear on the user's body and vice versa. The damage on the essence gets repaired as the injuries heal on the user's body. This means that any wounds on the actual body also get reflected onto the essence, including permanent damage like scars.
