Karin is a young woman of about average height. That is to say, she is approximately five feet and six inches tall. Karin has pink hair that she cuts short to keep from being a hindrance. However, she still keeps it at a more feminine length. Her eyes are a soft shade of amber under most circumstances, but they can turn feral when she is threatened. She has a pleasant, womanly figure, but rarely exploits it. She tries to keep the majority of her focus on her personal training and has managed to build up a decent layer of muscle, particularly in her arms and legs. Karin tries to keep her clothing simple. Her ordinary, everyday attire consists of a high-collared, sleeveless, yellow shirt and black pants. She wears military-grade boots on her feet, black gloves, and white sleeves on her arms that are not connected to her shirt. She has a Marine Officer coat that she wears on special occasions or when she needs to flaunt her authority. Otherwise, she will leave it in her cabin.

History: Karin was born in the Grandline to a pair of law abiding citizens. Her childhood was a good one, unblemished by war or tragedy, aside from losing a couple of dogs. Like all children, she grew quickly and soon developed into a fine young woman. Through her parents she had gained a love of peace and security, one that left no room for chaos or foolhardy behavior that was so common among her peers on the island. Many of them became pirates or simply left in search of adventure, but Karin remained at home even after she had gotten through college. She soon found a job and began dating one of the few remaining boys from her generation. He was a bit wild for her tastes, but she didn't mind all that much.

Her perfect world was shattered when a crew of pirates landed on the island. Among these pirates were some of children Karin had grown up with. The change they had undergone was drastic. No longer were they mere dreamers or unsupervised pranksters. They had become vicious, even bloodthirsty. The crew they were on raided the island and killed anyone who got in their way. Thankfully, very few of the islanders were foolish enough to even try to stop them and so the majority were left alone. Among those who stayed silent were Karin and her parents. Once the pirates left the island, Karin became angry and loudly berated the long-gone pirates for their cruelty and murderous intentions. Her parents tried to calm her by telling her that there was nothing they could have done and that the Marines would handle the pirates. Karin's parents were at least partly successful. She did calm down, but from that moment on she was not the same. No longer did she desire a quiet life on her island. She wanted something more, something greater.

At the age of twenty-two Karin left her island and joined the Marines. Before she left, her boyfriend approached her and asked her to marry him and stay on the island. She refused, but thanked him for the offer and said that if she ever returned, she might take him up on it. Until that time came, however, she would not be coming back home. She was going to focus entirely on her future as a Marine. And so she went and started into basic training. Karin had never been the most athletic person on her island, but with her newfound conviction she quickly became bored with the training and wanted something more. She relayed this desire to her commanding officers and after a few days of discussion, they offered her a new training regimen. It would be a much more difficult and dangerous training than the one most Marines went through, but if she didn't give up or die, she would come out a level equal to that of a Marine Captain. Karin agreed and so her training began. It lasted for five whole years and Karin considered each of those years its own personal hell. When it finally did end, Karin was promoted to a temporary rank of Captain. If she was able to prove herself, than she could become a Captain full-time. Her first mission was to clear out a band of pirates with only the aid of a small force of Marines. Because of this, she was forced to do the majority of the fighting, but with her new power and the leadership skills she had been taught during her training, she succeeded in annihilating the pirate force without losing a man.

After her test, Karin was sent to Marineford. She is to be given a ship and a crew and to begin her new life as a Marine Captain. As she was boarding the ship that would take her to Marineford, she was told that she was the first to undergo the five year training regime. Because of her success, they were considering putting more Marines through the process, but due to the length of the training, it would be a while before they saw any more results from it.

Personality: Karin is a great believer of justice, but not absolute justice. She does think that everyone who commits a crime should be punished, but she does not think the punishment should extend beyond that one individual or individuals, whichever the case may be. In fact, Karin is very defensive of the innocent and, in particular, the families of criminals. She believes that if a pirate is thrown in prison or executed, then it is the duty of the World Government to make sure that the family does not wish to turn against them in the future. They should try and set a good example to all nations by showing kindness and consideration to those who are sure to be hurt by the loss of their family member. Because of her strong beliefs, Karin is a very passionate person. She does not like overly zealous Marines who try to enforce absolute justice and, in some situations, she will even fight against her fellow soldiers to make sure that people's lives are not needlessly wasted. Fortunately, the rare occasions that she has done this have been far and few between and none of them involved dueling a higher ranked officer. So Karin has still been able to advance in rank. Karin's spirit is a gentle one that has developed inside of the body of a warrior. She will do her duty when she is called, but she will not always enjoy it. Apart from her life among the Marines, Karin has little else she cares about. Once a man proposed to her, but at the time she refused because she was still trying to make her own way in life. Now that she has achieved her initial goals, she might be more open to a relationship, assuming the right person came along.

Special Abilities:

Physical Fitness: Karin is in excellent physical condition. She has worked hard to train her body and has managed to learn four of the Rokushiki as well as extensions for each of those forms.

Learned Techniques:

1. Shigan: The Shigan is a close-quarter combat technique, in which the user pushes their finger into a certain target at a very high speed, leaving a wound similar to a bullet wound.

2. Shigan Oren: A rapid-fire version of the Shigan.

3. Tobu Shigan Bachi: Karin flicks her finger at her opponent and by doing so, she flicks a compressed air bullet at her opponent.

4. Genkotsu Taihou: Karin draws her fist back and then punches her opponent with enough power to punch a hole into their skin. This attack is essentially a Shigan except it involves her whole fist.

5. Genkotsu Taihou Oren: A rapid-fire version of the Genkotsu Taihou.

6. Zujou Tosu: Karin tries to grab her opponent by their arm or leg and then she throws them backwards over her head. This attack cannot be used on weapons unless the weapon has a blunt area that Karin can reach and grab without being thrown off of her feet by a powerful impact. Trying to grab the head of a mace that is in mid-motion would be considered a powerful impact that would throw her into the air.

7. Soru: The Soru allows the users to move at extremely high speeds in order to avoid attacks, as well as to attack at higher speeds and with greater power.

8. Soru Ashinami: Karin uses soru so fast that she can essentially run at soru-level speed instead of jumping. This makes it so that she is not restricted to moving in only one direction at a time, like a regular soru allows. Karin has not mastered this technique to where she can combine it with a geppo.

9. Geppo: The Geppo allows its user to actually jump off the air itself, allowing them to stay in the air for much longer than usual.

10. Kamisori: A combination of the soru and the geppo. By using both techniques simultaneously, the user can move through the air at soru-level speed.

11. Rankyaku: The Rankyaku is a powerful projectile technique, in which its user starts by kicking at a very high speed and with great strength. This sends out a sharp compressed air blade that can slice objects and greatly damage a human body.

12. Rankyaku Ran: Karin leaps high into the air and then begins kicking rapidly with both of her legs to rain down small Rankyakus on her opponent.

Weapons/Items:

Pistol: This technically isn't a special weapon in any way. Karin carries it for the memories that come with it. It was the weapon she was given when she first joined the Marines. She will use it in battle if she needs to.

Goals: To protect people from pirates and keep the world from descending into chaos.
