Avery is 5'11 and weighs 175 pounds. He has a tan skin tone and a semi muscular build. He has very black hair that is somewhat messy to a medium length. He has emerald green eyes the are very 'pretty' if you could call them that. Avery is a fairly heavy smoker and usually has a cigarette in his mouth. Also, his teeth a bit away for the front of his mouth are sharp, like fangs.Avery usually wears a white button down shirt rolled up to his elbow, a black vest and a black tie. He wears black trousers and black shoes, sometimes black jeans. In the cold, Avery will wear a blazer instead of his vest. He also, in the event he has to attend some special ceremony, will wear his justice cape. He also has the marine symbol tattooed on his upper right arm.

History:
Monroe Avery was born on a small island in the North Blue on the 17th of February. He lived in a small town with a single mom, since his dad left to join to join the marines when he was a little kid. He went to school and lived a pretty normal life until his mom died from a disease when he was in third grade. Monroe's moms last word to him was "Be Great". This was now Monroe's one true goal. Now that his mother was dead however, Monroe would have to go to an orphanage. After about two months of legal work however, there was no adoption agency that would be open to take Monroe. During this time, one major molder of his identity had taken place. During legal procedures and such, everyone had called him Avery, so that is what he decided he wanted to be called. After finding no adoption agency would take him, the government allowed Avery to stay at his house under the condition that he be a productive member of society. This basically meant doing community service and getting good grades. He did this, and during high school took two classes that would further mold his life: Criminal Investigation and Physiology. These two classes later became his main studies for the remainder of high school. At high school level on Avery's island, there was a 2 year program after high school that was optional, but Avery was forced to take it by the government, where he majored in crime and minored in profiling. For a year after this he searched for a job as a criminal investigator, but couldn't find any good ones, so he did the next best thing to fight crime, he joined the marines.

As a recruit, Avery was thrown into a boot camp with a gun and taught to use it. During this, he met a man who was also in boot camp, his name was Landon Park, and the two became friends. After this, the two were thrown again, this time to a war against a younko crew on an island in the New World. When they got their, they began fighting of waves of pirates immediantly. Most where just idiots, but one stood out in Avery's mind. This man used Judo. After a bit of a scurmish, Avery was pinned by the man and the only way he even survived was that he saw a gun on the ground and shot the man's brains out. But this got Avery thinking, he could use this as a fighting technique. So he practiced what the man did every night and soon became good at it. After the war was over, the crew had been defeated and Avery had been promoted to Petty Officer. Avery knew this was a good sign, as he was progressing. He was then stationed to an actual crew, who just happened to have Landon Park in it as chief petty officer. Landon often teased Avery for being a lower rank then him. Then, one day, after a successful attack on a pirate ship, Avery found a strange fruit as part of the loot. After he ate it, he found it tasted terrible and also a strange shocking feeling was felt in his head. Soon enough he also found he couldn't swim any more. After this, during another attack, a pirate ran up to Avery with a metal bat. Avery grabbed at it to stop the blow, but strangely this made the pirate die from electric shock. As Avery was an investigator, it didn't take him long to find a connection between the fruit and the power. He then found out he had eaten a devils fruit and began training with it.

After gaining this power, the ranks began to fly. After only a year and six months, the rank of Ensign was his. He had passed Landon's rank and now the joke was on him. After two more years he was a lieutenant, and he had only learned half the attacks that he would. At this time, Avery began style studying Muy Thai to try to make so that he didn't just need his devils fruit to win in a fight. After he learned this, he made his own style combining the martial arts that he already knew. At that point, he was 26 and just received the rank of captain. He was then relocated to Water 7. He also requested that Ensign Landon came with him, but he was not allowed. At Water 7, Avery did not see much action, so he began solving cases, training, dating (badly) and drawing in his spare time. Solving over 400 cases in 3 years, Avery became a commander and was proud of it. One pirate imparticular, mad that a spy he had placed on Water 7 was caught by Avery, came to the place to get his crew mate back and kill Avery. Avery then had only him and an ensign meet the men on a battle field. He killed most of the crew singlehandedly, and then came face to face with the captain, who used the regular lightning fruit. Red and yellow flashed through the skys for an hour until Avery was held victorious. This action lead to him becoming a Rear admiral at age 30. Avery stayed at Water 7 for five years training, learning the trumpet and relearning marksmenship, and drawing until he requested to be put back into action, either as a captain or on a crew. Now fate rests in the WG's hands


Personality: Avery is a bit emotionally detached. He does not share any emotion with his crew, let alone his past. He will, however, reminisce cheerfully with his old friends. He is also very stubborn, and if he thinks something, he will go with it until his is proven wrong scientifically. And even then sometimes he will continue thinking his opinion. This might be why he has such terrible luck with women, as he has had over 50 girl friends, none working out. He is also a natural born leader. He is amazing at quick thinking to get people out of almost any situation. With this he always tries to protect his crew, and if one of them is injured and killed, the one responsible better watch out. He also views his crew as his own and does not like taking directions from anyone. When given them, he will either fight them or most likely, nod and ignore them. He also has a strong sense of justice, and he will try to find any legal loophole he can to catch a criminal. He also naturally thinks it is his job to teach everyone in his crew how to be better investigators and fighters. His hearing and sight are amazing, so he can hear and see things from a distance that no one else could, which greatly annoys people. He enjoys drawing in his free time, and is amazing at it. He also enjoys a cigarette, hard liquor, jazz and is currently learning the trumpet. He very much hates crime and criminals in general, and also the way that the world government handles these things, especially pirates with shikibukai and such.

Combat Skills: After being a marine specializing in firearms and hand to hand combat, Avery is extremely skilled in his aim. He also boasts expertise in Judo and Muy Thai, and has made a specialized martial art that combines the two.

Investigator: Avery is a seasoned investigator, as he can notice things almost no one else would, is good and connecting things, and has a bit of a background in physiological profiling. He also has amazing hearing and sight, which means he can pick up on conversations from awhile away.
