Name: Alvaro Del Bosque
Age:29
Bounty: 22.000.000
Species: Human
Occupation: assassin
Allegiance: currently none
Home Village/Ocean: Grandline
Appearance: Alvaro is tall, but not tall enough to actually attract too much attention, and stringy, like a sprinter. His skin is very dark, but his hair is, after a little accident involving exploding bottles of hair dye, a lot of fun cleaning the hotel room and making the parts which had gotten on him look at least halfway acceptable, black with gray streaks in it. It wasn't even his hair dye...
Though he never says it, he actually likes it. It's long and straight, and he keeps it tied up in the back most of the time... Well, as tied up as he can, with the smaller streaks doing whatever they want all the time. It ends up looking more sloppy than when it's open that way...
His eyes dark brown, and really not that special, so let's just move on to more interesting things.
He likes wearing long things. A long sleeved, high necked shirt (with frills! Frills are manly!), a wide (but devishly styling) coat over it, long pants, and boots are some of his favourite pieces of clothing. Most of it in dark colours, so that he can hide in the shadows better (save for the shirt, which is mostly white). At least that's what he says. Why most of it is leather, he has no excuse for. Neither for why it has to be so expensive and flashy, or why he has to wear that silver jewelry he likes so much. Silver, polished earrings, a silver necklace or two, gleamingly silver rings on both hands, over his wonderful black leather gloves (which, if he has the time to take off the rings first, he likes to slap people with if he wants to duel)... maybe he's just really, really vain.
History:
Alvaro Del Bosque, or, as he was called back then: Herbert Durward, was born to a poor mother, in a poor part of a poor town in a country ruled by a rich king. He didn't know his father, and so he was raised by his mother, a prostitute who barely had enough to feed herself. He took on smaller jobs, such as “That man has stolen something from me, I want it back! You're small, go creep into his house!“. He was actually good at that little game, and the more he did it, the better he became at avoiding the housekeepers. He became so good at it, he could creep into a house and get out of it with the housekeeper in the same room as him. Of course, he did get caught as well, and often, it was only luck and his quick legs that kept him alive.
His mother loved him, despite him being nothing but trouble and costing money, and she didn't want him to steal. But he didn't want her to starve, especially not because of him.
The jobs he took on became more and more dangerous, until he actually had to fight and win in order to make some money. He killed someone for the first time when he was barely ten. That's very young for an assassin, but his stealth was good enough to sneak into a room and stab someone in the back with a knife repeadetly. Putting poison into food was even easier. And assassinations just got him more money than simple theft.
The years went by, and he got better and better at his job. When he was sixteen, he could call himself an assassin, instead of a simple cutthroat, and was hired for bigger missions, even by the richer people (the ones who could afford more than a simple hut). He wasn't the best one out there, but he was cheap, and the greedy merchants and blacksmiths, the small civilians and all the others who weren't upper class, but still needed someone dead, were looking for exactly that in a killer.
Soon, he was brought to the attention of one of the upper class familiys (being brought to the attention of someone is bad, but he didn't know that back there), and hired for a simple mission: He had to steal a document of a rival family that proved they had helped the revolution that was slowly starting in East Blue at the time.
He fulfilled the mission to the mans perfect satisfaction, but it had an aftermath. I tmade him known in the upper class, a secret tip for anyone who wanted to have something not quite legal done for a good price. Herbert, kept on getting missions, and the payment of the upper class was much better than what he normally got.
His mother warned him time after time that he shouldn't get into it too deep, that it was dangerous. It made him angry. How should she know?! That fear, her stupid fear was what kept them from being rich. The upper class, that's where the money was. Killing upper class people for upper class people.
The last time he saw his mother, he had that same argument with her, blamed her for everything that had gone wrong in his life, and left her broken, crying. That night, while he was out on a mission, she was killed. Seemingly, he had become too much of a menace to one of the noble families, and he had decided to frighten him a bit.
When Herbert found out it had something to do with that, he wanted his revenge. He started doing missions for information on it.
After a few months he found out who it was that killed his mother: the noble he had killed that very same night, sparing no thought to her or revenge, not enjoying it. He himself had taken his revenge from him, and had taken revenge on himself for the noble.
After that, at the age of nineteen, he left the island. The first thing he did was think of a new name. Herbert Durwood sounded like a fool, a farmer or a low badit, but he was an assassin, and he wanted to be treated like the high classed man he deserved to be. The next thing he did was to change his style. Nobody knew him on the island he bought his new attire, and nobody would remember him. Clothes and a name, paired with the attitude that came with money... His new identity was almost perfect. The only thing left was the knowledge, the manners of a high classed man. So, until he gathered enough knowledge in those things, he would not, he swore to himself, touch the clothes, nor call himself by his new name. He wanted nothing of the filthiness of his old life on his new one. And now that he didn't have anything to lose, he could fulfill his job all the better. As long as he didn't get too attached to anything, he wouldn't ever lose anything. That was lesson number one.
Lesson number two was long and hard, starting from learning how to read, going over maths, science, literature, arts, and, of course, how to fight like a gentleman. Not like he ever actually gave his victims a chance to defend themselves, but on that island, he didn't learn how to assassinate, he learned how to duel. While there, Herbert trained himself in those things and many more. In a big town like the one he was living aín at that time, no one remembers one fool with hopes of being a high class man, there were many of them.
At the age of twenty three, Alvaro De Bosque, a gentleman, charmer and first class assassin, left the island. Ever since then, he hasn't been staying anywhere for longer than it took him to get the job done and cash the payment. Of course, at the beginning, he might have been a gentleman, literate, charming and all that, but his assassin skills weren't exactly first class, even after his career on the other island. After all, he hadn't killed anyone in a long time.
During the next years, he got most of his scars, but also learned most about his own job, until he didn't need to live the lie of being a first class assassin anymore, and instead could truthfully claim to be one. Needless to say, not everything he did was liked by everyone. Some things he did were even officially disliked by the government, not to mention all of them were by the law. And that's how he got his bounty. But he also worked for them when needed to, and helped out some important people, which is why it was more something to show he wasn't exactly a good person. Searches of any kind weren't ever exactly made, neither attempts to seriously catch him.
Things went smooth, until he made one big mistake, that he should have seen coming. He took a mission down in south blue, concerning two rivaling families, yadda yadda, old game. Most people had the same reason for wanting someone dead. Anyway, he was hired by someone out of a family of rich upstarts to kill the heir of the noble family ruling the town. At the same time, he got another request, saying exactly the same safe for one thing: the lady who had given him that mission wanted the heirs sword afterwards. He didn't think much of it, and took both at the same time. Twice the money for one mission. Good deal.
Unfortunately, the man from the upstart family had set him up. The moment he handed the sword over to the woman, they got surrounded by marines. it looked like this time, he had gone just a little too far... The marine had always hated him, anyway, and the government had used everything it could to keep them off his heels. But this time, he had actually killed someone of real importance, and maybe that was what kept them from interfering. Fortunately, the sword he had brought the lady was... special, to say, and she provided enough distraction for him to get away... without his payment.
That same night, he paid the man who had hired him a visit. It didn't take him long to make the poor man spit out everything he knew. And the payment, as well. Then he killed him. Had to set an example. It took a lot of that money and a lot of skill to escape from the island, but he made it.
After that, he went to some smaller islands first until it had calmed down a little, then traveled on to East Blue. That was his second big mistake, as he ran right into the arms of the marine troops. He measured their current strenght, then his, then thought about his chances of escaping. Then he surrendered without a fight, which was surprising to most of the soldiers, but generally taken as a good thing.
Right now, he is in Impel Down, level three, but he doesn't plan on staying there, and it doesn't look like he'll have to...
Personality: Alvaro is a calm, charming man with high standards when it comes to... well, anything. It's weird because he certainly hasn't been raised with high class things all around, but there's nothing that makes him quite as happy as a good wine, a beatiful lady (or man. No one ever said he was only into women.) by his side and a very, very expensive way to waste time... He really likes things such as old buildings, the opera and everything involving style. He really is vain and greedy, and would admit it openly if anyone would ever ask him, but he follows a strict “Don't ask-Don't tell“ kind of policy, and people don't normally ask such things as: “Are you a vain and greedy jerk?“ or, which is very good for him: “Are you here to kill me and gain enormous amounts of money with it?“. So he doesn't tell. One of the things he doesn't tell, but shows quite often, is that he's quite romantic actually, and believes in true love, even though he clearly doesn't need it that much.
Alvaro is a very manipulative, and he's having a lot fun being so. Not that he likes hurting people, but he just really doesn't want them to endanger him or his mission. And if he can play a bit with their feelings, shape them a bit while he's at it, all the better. He doesn't do it without thought, as no one knows the value of human life better than him (literally), and he doesn't ever aim to break them, or make them go mad. He's not that type of man.
In his eyes, an action is only worth doing as long as it is something he could understand if he was the one it was done to. Everything else is despicable. What? Of course he understands why someone would want to kill him for a huge amount of money! Nothing wrong with that, okay?
Ship: none
Ship Flag: none
Devil Fruit: none
Special Abilities:
Alvaro can move like a shadow, absolutely soundless and incredibly fast. His stealth is so incredible it's hard to believe he's actually human, and not some kind of ghost. Aside from his stealth, his poisons are absolutely deadly, and his eyesight isn't too shabby either, forming a devastating combination with his steady hand and therfore good aim.
He aims for one hit kills if he can, partly because he doesn't want his victim suffering too much, partly because he just really isn't that good in close combat. Nevertheless, he is a weaponmaster to be feared.
Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25):
Weapons/Items:
Lots of knifes
A short sword (for close combat)
A Katana (for close combat)
Some simple steel wire
A whip (don't ask, don't tell, kids)
Goals: Lots of money, lots of fun... And perhaps, he just really wants to find true love somewhere.
