Cages

I am locked far away within a cage.
This cage has thick rusty bars.
There is no light.
I am forever stuck in darkness.
The heat is rising and my heart is cold.
My mind is scrambled.
I feel forgotten.
Beneath the shards of earth.
Away from society.
Where I belong.

I desire my previous cage.
Out alone in the darkness.
Steel thin fence.
Electrified.
Closing in or open wide.
Weakened heart beating wild.
Every time I reach.
Every time a shock to my heart.
Society on one side.
I on the other.
Put in my place.

Finally I am home.
Locked from society.
From life.
From a civilised society.
The world is safe again.
My lips never to open.
My words never to spill.
My emotions never to be understood.
My eyes always open.

Yours, forever closed.
