Name: Sven Wiegaard
Age: 27
Bounty: 5oo,ooo, active or inactive as his current political position dictates.
Species: Human
Occupation: Swordsman, but is a fair hand at nearly everything else, but he's nowhere near qualified to specialize in anything other than swordsmanship.
Allegiance: His allegiance really depends on his moods, for he will cut down Marine and pirate alike depending on how cruel they are. In a single word: vigilante.
Home Village/Ocean: Grand Line, the island of Parapetia.
Appearance: Sven is a fair haired man with a consistently calm air about him. His hair is short and straight, but normally askew ever so slightly so that it doesn't go into his eyes. His eyes themselves are a clear green, and he has a few freckles on his cheeks. He is normally garbed in a short sleeved black shirt and long black pants, and he normally has more casual sneakers on his feet, though the sneakers have a coating of metal on the bottom to grind shards of obsidian to dust. He will have a brown leather belt affixed about his waist, onto which the sheath for his sword is normally adhered. He also, peculiarly, wears samurai-style wrist guards on his forearms, and additionally has a pair of aviator goggles that he keeps on his forehead on the off chance he will need to fight someone.
Occasionally, though, Sven does need a more appropriate attire for more formal occasions: a blue military style suit, sans any form of headgear. He forgoes his wrist guards and his aviator goggles, and combs his hair back. Furthermore, his sneakers are switched out for more dignified leather dress shoes. He does keep the Zeroth Blade on hand, still affixed to his waist, although with a more formal silvery and gold cloth belt.
History: Sven Wiegaard was born on the Parapetia in the Grand Line, the son of a wealthy aristocratic family. His family's method of obtaining their position was no secret: the line was descended from a very skilled and prolific pirate from approximately two hundred years ago. The pirate literally paid his way into the aristocracy, and due to his wife's incredible economic intellect, they firmly entrenched themselves in the aristicratic class. Over time, the manner and behavior of the members of the line improved, making them seem, on the outside, as if they had been aristocrats since the beginning of time.
It was into this family that Sven was born, and it was because of them that he learned his incredible manners and polite behavior. He was taught many arts, such as cooking and naval navigation, as such subjects were expected to be known by the aristocracy. He was fascinated by the family sword that hung above the mantle, and through a considerable amount of effort (and admittedly childish whining), he convinced his parents to help him learn how to wield a sword. He insisted to his tutor that, although he was a member of the aristocracy, he expected no special treatment; only the basic necessities of politeness and good manners. His trainer complied, and though his manner and diction were always spotless, his training for Sven was grueling and tough. Because of this, Sven was able to become a skilled swordsman by the age of 19, though not one that would shake the earth, as it were.
Sven's skill as a swordsman grew as his gentlemanly manners did the same. Unlike many of the gentlemen in the Parapetian aristocracy, Sven did not court many of the females in the other families. His manner was courteous with them, as it was with every other person, but he made no effort to curry their favor. His parents slowly grew distraught over this, and instead attempted to arrange a marriage for him. When Sven found out, he refused to get married, no matter what his parents said. The day of their intended marriage, Sven was nowhere to be found: the 24 year old man was off on another island, practicing his swordsmanship and challenging whoever he could to gentlemanly matches of the blade. He stayed there for six months to try to wait for his parents to calm down and accept his decision.
While Sven was gone, the Marine presence on the island shifted, due to a corrupt individual coming to power. The new leader of the Marines imposed much higher taxes, the surplus of which he put into his own pocket. A group of the aristocrats, primarily led by the Wiegaard family, opposed the new taxes, but due to the heavily political atmosphere in Parapetia, the Marines had more power, and arrested and imprisoned the majority of the Wiegaard family and their supporters.
Sven returned to find his home empty: his family's coffers emptied. The only thing of value left in the house was the family blade, located in a hidden safe in the family mansion. Sven was briefed on the situation by one of his old servants, who explained to him the events of the past months. In a momentary lapse in judgement, Sven's rage got the better of him. He went to the Marine base and murdered the leader of the corrupt officials, the speed with which he did the deed preventing any Marines from stopping him. He proceeded to free his family and their supporters, and they found evidence of the Marine's corrupt behavior. Giving the evidence to his family to handle, Sven couldn't stay for much longer: despite the corrupt nature of the Marine, it still stood that he had killed a Marine, and would likely be punished for it.
Sven left Parapetia and wandered the world, seeing many instances of corruption from Marines, and cruelty from pirates. Though he knew his family descended from a pirate, he couldn't support the actions of the pirates of today, and thus pledged himself to cleansing the world of cruelty and corruption however he could, and his political situation has been fluctuating appropriately as he kills both deadly pirates and corrupt Marines.
Personality: Sven is an extremely calm and collected individual, who, while not being a true stoic, does not let his passions control his behavior. He is extremely polite to those who deserve it, primarily those Marines that are honorable, and those pirates who have not really deserved their bounties. He likes to resolve problems peacefully before bringing it to blows. Sven will only be brought to blows if pushed, physically threatened, or if he finds himself in the presence of unsupported arrogance. Sven also has a very strong belief in just punishment, and he doesn't think that only one organization, like the Marines, deserves the sole right to dole out punishment. He views corruption and unprovoked murder as the two crimes of the greatest caliber. Those two crimes are the only crimes he views as deserving of a death sentence, which he feels obligated to carry out due to his rather aristocratic upbringing.

Special Abilities: Crystal Walk: The Crystal Walk is a single sword style used by Sven due to its elegance and its focus on parrying, sweeping motions, and its focus on a 'last kill', a last strike specifically meant to finish off a wounded opponent. The Crystal Walk and all related techniques are only taught on the island of Parapetia, and used only by the aristocracy, particularly by Sven's family. The Crystal Walk was originally developed by one of Sven's ancestors; the very ancestor, in fact, who obtained the Zeroth Blade.
Unbalancing Steps: The Unbalancing Steps martial artist style is a style that mixes the redirectional principles of aikido with a focus on the use of the legs. This style is primarily used by swordsmen and fighters who use mostly their arms for combat. The Unbalancing Steps style will use the legs to trip up opponents, and use the momentum of the opponent to upset the opponent's balance.
Masterful Swordsmanship: Sven is an extremely skilled swordsman, generally avoiding the use of abnormal powers to take the win. His skill in an up-close swordsplay battle is incredible, and he can be generally considered to be one of the most fluid swordsmen out there in terms of his movements and his reactions. His skills using a one handed sword are superb, but he is unable to weild a two handed sword or more than one one handed sword at a time. His skills with a sword enable him to perform feats with a sword that could be performed by stronger men with less skill, but they do not allow him to perform abnormal feats without a sword.
Cat-like Reflexes: While Sven is not necessarily quick on his feet, he is extremely good at reacting to danger and countering attacks. His reflexes are extremely good, enabling him to parry a bullet with a swing of his sword. However, his reflexes will dullen over time if he has to fight against someone for an extended period of time, just like any human.
Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25): - Crystal Walk:
1. Smash Recoil: The Smash Recoil is a technique used to turn a defensive movement into an offensive movement. Sven performs it by swinging his sword extremely hard at an opponent's sword to parry it, deflecting the sword and making his own sword ricochet off the opponent's blade. Sven will then follow through by spinning in the opposite direction, using the momentum of the sword to carry him in a circle. He will then crouch to help dodge any followups from the opponent, and then slash at his opponent's stomach with the sweeping slash.
2. Crystal Wall: Crystal Wall is a very simple defensive technique performed by holding the Zeroth blade directly horizontal, and placing the free left hand behind the area just below the tip of the blade. This allows the user to move their blade in a solidly circular pattern, and block attacks coming from the front at any angle.
3. Shattered Chandelier: The user of this technique purposefully smashes their blade into the ground at a flat angle, shattering the obsidian coat on the blade. The blade must then be jerked in the direction of enemies, at which point the shards of obsidian will be flung off the blade in that general direction.
4. Perfect Cut: The user of this technique simply strikes an opponent's blade at an angle slightly lower than the angle required for a perpendicular strike, deflecting the blade so that the opponent's slash is safely parried away from the user of the technique.
5. Split the Skies: This technique is one of the finishing moves of the Crystal Walk style. This is used to wipe out broad numbers of enemies at once, and to take out airborne enemies the user of the technique simply cannot fight from where they stand. The user unclips the sheath of the Zeroth Blade from their belt before holding it horizontally at their side. They then place their free hand on the hilt of the blade and focus. After focusing and doing something quite akin to meditation, the holder of the blade draws and slashes outwards, sending a long, arcing vacuum wave at a target (or many) to slice it in half.
6. Rend the Earth: This is the second finishing move of the Crystal Walk style, used against one opponent from a middling distance. The user holds the sheath of the Zeroth Blade above their head, pointing the handle downwards slightly. The user then performs a temporary meditation, similar to the one in Split the Skies, before drawing the blade and swinging it vertically at their opponent. The force of the swing will crack the ground, sending a splitting crack towards the opponent of the user, and a compressed wave of air will shoot out at a perpendicular angle from the user's swing.
7. Part the Seas: This is the final finishing move of the Crystal Walk style, and it is only used in close proximity to an opponent, and against extremely tough opponents. The sheath of the Zeroth Blade remains on the hip of the user, and the meditation that is a staple for the latter Crystal Walk techniques must be performed prior to actually attacking with Part the Seas. The user must then rush forward and slash quickly and smoothly with all their might, making the blade pass through the target's body. This technique is practically the only attack that can be made with the Zeroth Blade without shattering the outer obsidian cover.
- Unbalancing Steps:
1. The Stance: The stance of the Unbalancing Steps style of martial arts is not a very complex stance, and is indeed meant to be used in tandem with another fighting style, usually swordsmanship. The stance involves being within leg's reach of your opponent, and leaving the legs somewhat spread out so they can be moved fluidly.
2. Trip: This is a very simple technique: when the opponent is in the middle of a movement (usually one involving leaning forward), the user of thsi technique applies very focused force on the opponent's leg, shifting the leg in an attempt to push the person off balance and make them fall over.
3. Instability: This technique is used prior to Trip on some occasions, mostly to make Trip easier to perform. The user must move his or her feet to impede the movement of others, or otherwise maneuver them into a position that better favors the user of this technique.
4. Fall: This technique is somewhat harder to pull off, necessitating that the user gets extremely close to their opponent. The user of the technique will stick their leg out to hook it behind their opponent's leg before jerking, pulling the foe off balance so that they fall on their back.
5. Break: This technique is not often applied due to the force necessary to pull it off, but it remains an effective attack. If the opponent's leg remains straight for an extended period of time, the user of this technique will stamp upon the opponent's knee as hard as possible. This leads to an immense amount of pain for the opponent, occasionally even breaking the leg. However, the force needed to break the leg is so high, it almost never happens.
