Appearance: Ami is a pretty, violet-eyed mermaid with thick straight brown hair that falls to her waist. She has soft brown skin and measures 5ft 7 from the top of her head to the tip of her main fins. Ami’s eyes are rimmed by a thick fringe of sooty black eyelashes and her high-set apple-cheeks make her appear much younger than she actually is. Her top body is covered by a lilac blouse with a low-set collar and she wears no jewellery aside from a single gold bracelet, given to her by her mother. Her tail is a deep indigo colour, the style resembling that of a Parrotfish’s with two main blue, pink-tipped fins and a smaller set of pale pink vestigial fins.
History:
Ami had a happy, peaceful upbringing, the eldest daughter of a family of merfolk living in a peaceful cove at Fishman Island. She grew up happily, sheltered from the world and the horrors of it.
She spent most of her time looking after her younger siblings and grew very close to her grandmother- who had once spent a number of years travelling, rescuing sailors throughout the seas and exploring various islands. Ami often listened to her stories with zeal but due to the comfort of her life, had very little desire to actually leave Fishman Island herself.
Her grandmother also instructed her in music, teaching her to play the harp and instantly recognising that her granddaughter had natural music talent as well as a beautiful singing voice. Ami’s passion for music was the initial thing that originally led her to want to see more of the world. She desired to meet other musicians and learn new songs and new types of music.
However she had no idea of the dangers of the world outside her Utopian little family cove on Fishman Island and her parents, who did, were reluctant to let her leave. They convinced her that she was needed at home to look after her siblings.
The other merfolk in the cove also enjoyed listening to her practice her music and singing during the day and their audience pleased her.
Ami had always heard of the fishmen on the island and had seen them coming through the cove to speak to the leaders of the merfolk there but she had never been permitted to speak to them herself. Also, Ami had always been fascinated by her grandmother’s stories of humans but had never actually seen a human for herself.
Soon, Ami desperately wanted to explore the seas for herself and travel away from home and for the first time, felt upset that her parents kept declining her requests to be allowed leave the island.
Ami’s mother gave out to her grandmother, saying that her constant “fairytales” about the Grand Line and the Great Oceans were creating a false idea of the world for Ami and increasing her naivety.
Becoming worried that she was causing needless conflict within her family, Ami stopped asking to leave the island and instead concentrated on her musical studies. It was around this time that she realised that her singing voice and a harp-playing could have certain effects on people- such as calming them and lulling them to sleep. She did her best to perfect this ability, using it when babysitting her younger siblings.
When she was eighteen, her grandmother died suddenly of natural causes. Ami was heartbroken that her musical instructor, loving grandmother and only “window to the outside world” had passed away and left her alone.
Her parents saw her unhappiness, protective but not heartless and finally agreed to let her leave the island, to travel alone as her grandmother had. However, they did not let her leave without warning her about the dangers of the waters: hostile fishmen, marine boats, the world government ships, Cipher Pol, devil fruit users and pirates.
They also made her promise to return to them after one year to check in with them and let them to know that she was alright as well as proving to them that their daughter could survive life on her own.
Making those very promises, Ami bid goodbye to her family and set off into the open waters, eager to meet new people, improve her musical skills and to have the adventures that her grandmother had before her.
Personality: Ami is a genuinely innocent, gentle young woman with a natural maternal instinct. She was brought up a pacifist and as such desires to bring no harm to anyone for any reason. She prefers to talk things through rather than fight them out and sees music as a unifying force, fuelling her passion for it.
She is a bright girl but also very naive and tends to look at the world with a pair of rose-coloured glasses, often not seeing the danger in a situation or the sinister side of a person until it is too late.
Ami loves to play her harp, sing and write music of her own. She has very little interest in combat but is always willing to learn about the different fighting styles of the world, seeing them as vital elements of other cultures.
She also has a natural romantic streak and carries the belief that true love can eventually conquer all- sometimes rather childishly clinging to that belief.
Ami also prefers to be called by her much cuter nickname rather than her much longer birth name: "Amphirite."

Special Abilities: Due to having looked after her siblings for most of her life, Ami is extremely good at dealing with people and has efficient knowledge of first age. She also has a very pure, sweet voice that has been known to stun listeners into silence. She is also an accomplished harp player and can easily pick up and learn new songs without much effort.
Learned Techniques:
1. Mermaid’s Lullaby: Ami will play and sing along to a soft melody on her harp, lulling anyone who listens to it into a deep peaceful slumber or reducing them to a relaxed, peaceful state at the very least.
2.Sour Notes: The complete opposite to her Mermaid’s lullaby, Ami will play a patronizing, warbling tune on her harp that will cause listeners to be provoked into an irritated state of rage in which they cannot think straight enough to make logical decisions.
3.Tail Strike: The only physical force that Ami will use in self defence. She will press the fins and base of her tail into her attacker’s abdomen and push them backwards as hard as she can, flicking her fins upward at the last second to slap the attacker full in the face.
