Darallan "Fugu" Simon Empty
PostSubject: Darallan "Fugu" Simon   Darallan "Fugu" Simon Icon_minitimeFri Jul 08, 2011 4:53 pm

Name: Darallan "Fugu" Simon (Simon is the first name)

Age: 30

Bounty: N/A

Species: Human

Occupation: Captain, Fisherman

Allegiance: Marines, Archangels

Home Village/Ocean: North Blue

Appearance: For his gluttonous tendencies, Simon is actually surprisingly slim. He's also rather tall, measuring at around 187 cm. He has the physique of someone who mostly does cardio exercises, which means that he isn't particularly bulky, though the muscle he has built does show, and is rather efficient. His skin tone is a light tan.

He has a rather well defined jaw, and nearly white curly hair framing his face, though it can still be counted as a very light shade of blonde. His rather angled and rectangular head is brightened by a soft smile nearly always present on the marine captain, along with green eyes that hint experience far beyond his age.

Simon typically wears a rather billowy sleeveless shirt of blue color, along with khaki pants and khaki boat shoes. He also sometimes adds the marine coat as an afterthought as a cape over the shoulders.

History: Simon comes from a community of fishers in north blue, which was fairly lucky for him, because he loves fishing. Due to this, he was naturally very willing to fish well, and was actually a rather productive fisher even in a young age. He would've been content to continue fishing, fish-selling, fish-eating and other fish-related activities until the end of his days, but fate had something else in store for him.

One day, when Simon was out fishing rather far from the island, pirates came, sacking and looting the island rather thoroughly. Simon saw the smoke and returned to a destroyed home and a dead family. However, he knew he had to get out of the island, so after grieving and thinking for a time, Simon hatched a plan. He would gather what supplies he could, take his ship and fishing equipment and set sail for a nearby marine headquarters.

This would've been a fine plan if Simon had actually known a goat's withered crap about navigation.

Simon drifted, and while a fisherman of his caliber would have a hard time running out of food, he was running out of water. And because he had no clue where he was, he eventually ran out of water, and lost consciousness to dehydration. He eventually awoke on the island dominated by the marine base he was looking for in the first place, being overlooked by a pair of.... slightly over fist sized.... tentacled... white.... things. To his surprise, they spoke, explaining what had happened. The two creatures had rescued him, bringing him to the island and nursing him to health, for whatever reason. And because he was already supposed to believe that these thing spoke, Simon figured he might as well accept their story.

After recovering, Simon walked into the marine building and enlisted, starting life as a rather ordinary marine, though one who had sea anemones walking around. They never left his side, and due to the critters saving his life, and the numerous favors he did them, he and the anemones had developed a strong bond. This led to the anemones finally becoming marines as well when Simon vouched for them.

At no point did he lose his passion for fishing, and fish in general, and he spent most of his leisure time with a fishing rod. Being stationed in the grand line (he insisted on taking the anemones with him) meant more dangerous catch, and more dangerous catch meant that he had build up some serious skills to deal with it. The improvised combat style resulting from this was actually rather effective, and a crazy idea from one of the anemones resulted in him acclimating himself to sea anemone poison to use them as boxing gloves.

Nowadays, the eccentric marine captain has been transferred into the archangels, as his reputation among the pirates spread. Apparently facing someone thought to be batshit insane was not too high on anyone's list. Simon took the transfer gracefully, and is now officially a part of the archangels, with a title befitting his habits of ravenously devouring fish.

Personality: Simon loves fish. He loves catching them, and he loves eating them. He's actually a rather relaxed person, taking most things coolly and rarely acting surprised at anything. Living with two sentient anemones has dulled his sense of wonder. He also has a rather weird sense of humor, and he found it hilarious to have each new initiate under his command duel one of the anemones to instill humility, obedience and to teach the lesson of not reading a book by its cover. He also likes to exercise, which is a good thing given how much food he consumes.

He is deeply attached to the pair of anemones who know take near-permanent residence at his shoulders, and would absolutely flip if someone harmed them. This kind of deep attachment usually applies to anyone he has been friends with for a significant amount of time, which is why he still hates pirates from the bottom of his heart for destroying his home. However, he mostly doesn't let it show.

Ship: N/A

Ship Flag: N/A

Devil Fruit: N/A
Type: N/A
Effect: N/A
Special Abilities:
Fisherman-fu: Simon fights like he fishes. He has various techniques that work equally well on fish and humans, and he has perfected the art of using a fishing-rod for both fighting, fishing and fighting fish. Fisherman-fu seems to encompass basically every move Simon uses to fight both fish and humans, and the shared principles can be surprisingly effective.

Physical Abilities: Simon has superhuman strength, and he can punch through metal sheets and shatter stone walls with simple one handed punches. His running speed is borderline superhuman, and he could run 100 meters in about 6 seconds. His endurance is also rather inhuman. He can take damage that would kill normal humans many times over and keep fighting. This means that he could take several bullets head on and continue to fight, though he is still far from invincible and if attacked repeatedly or with particularly powerful attacks, he will go down like anyone else. Finally, he has complete immunity to the poison of sea anemones. He is also an adept boxer, which he uses as a secondary fighting style, which is useful when using his anemone friends as boxing gloves.

Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25):
Fisherman-fu
  • Gills Ripper: Simon strikes with two fingers, striking with such force and rapidity that the fingers project a razor sharp wave of air around them, allowing Simon to slash something without even touching it. The use for fishing is ripping the gills of the fish to put it out of its misery.
  • Flying Gills Ripper: This move works like Gills Ripper. However, instead of working at close range, it sends a wave of razor sharp air at the target.
  • Line Reel: Simon throws the line of his fishing rod at the opponent, aiming to catch them before pulling sharply on the rod to send the enemy flying at him at the end of the line.
  • Unstruggler: Simon attacks an enemy by punching them in the upper chest, aiming the force both forwards and downwards, perfect for forcing a struggling opponent to the ground, or force a fish flopping on the end of a fishing line to shut up and sit down. It is also an excellent follow up to Line Reel.
  • Bracing the Pull: Simon has been called upon to catch some seriously big fish, and sometimes the fish threaten to be stronger than him. This stance has been developed for this reason, and it consists of Simon tensing himself and bracing against the ground, becoming both more difficult to injure and forcibly move, though his own mobility suffers due to not being able to move very well with tensed muscles, as well as being forced to break stance, and thus end the effect if he moves his legs.
  • Swarm Subduing Fist: Simon has on occasion ran into a situation where he is faced with a ton of fish who all need a fist to the head to remind them of the virtues and shutting up and waiting for the knife. Thus, he has devised a technique that effectively consists of a wide are being struck by punches in rapid succession, and while it was originally meant against swarms, it works just as well against individuals.

Anemone Boxing: Simon places the anemones on his hands (or they jump on them), which they hold on to gain better reach and to poison anything Simon hits, as well as being able to hit things more effectively themselves due to the increased reach. Simon can still use all of his techniques when he has the anemones on his fists.

Weapons/Items: A high-quality fishing rod with a strong reel that does not break even under strong pressure. He also has two sea anemones that he uses as boxing gloves, who would rage about now about being classified as "items".

Goals: Fight the pirates, protect his two anemone friends.
