Goga has a very defined face and chiseled features, and would be considered very handsome, among fish-people.
History:
- Spoiler:
Life started out badly for Goga, after being abandoned in the ocean as a baby he was meant to die in the water and leave this world in peace; but the sea had different plans. As chance would have it, the currents of East Blue eventually pushed the child into the working grounds of the fisherman of Furi village. To say it was a shock for an old fisherman to find a baby fish-man would no doubt be an understatement; but that's exactly what happened to Nesta R. Roga one fateful day.
The aging fisherman was pushing 60, never married Roga's only bride was the sea. Besides from a seaside shack he used when trading or to shelter himself during storms Roga lived mostly on his ship. Priding himself on fishing the ways of the ancestor, Roga perfected the art of fishing on Furi island. Pulling only the most delicious and precious creatures from the sea, renowned for his free diving capabilities he would go to depths other human's thought unreachable; but other humans didn't dedicate their lives to the craft. By the time Goga came into the aging fishermans life his routine was so set in stone he didn't know what to do with the creature. He knew one could sell a fishman for a hefty price, but money was never a goal for Roga. The thought of throwing the baby back into the sea came to mind but he didn't have the heart for it. And so he decided he would simply race the creature as a pet, at least till it was large enough to fend for itself. As Roga decided this he tried to round up the small fish-man but by this time the baby Goga had recovered from his scare in the ocean and started to explore the deck, running away from Roga when he would approach him. Just as the old fisherman was about to grab the creature so he noticed that it had picked up 2 fish from the net Goga had also been caught it. Looking at the 2 fish intently for a second the child then walked up to the edge of the sea, he lightly dropped one of the fish in the sea while then walked the other over to a pile of caught fish. Roga had a smile on his face the likes of which he hadn't experienced in years, "A natural Fisherman eh?." It was then he decided this creature wouldn't be his pet, but instead his son. Taking the name of Roga's father, Goga started his life as a fisherman.
Goga spent his first 3 years of life upon the sea with only his father to interact with. Even though the young fishman took to the trade fast and loved his adopted father very much he ached for friendship; this was something Roga noticed and couldn't help wanting to change. And so the next time the two stayed on shore Roga worked a way for one of the islands delivery boys to come to the shack with a package, he hoped whoever showed would become friends with Goga. Luckily for the aging fisherman the delivery boy working that day was Skip D. Rosco, though his parents where pirates they where nothing but friendly and Roga had much respect for his father Rango. It wasn't long before Rosco and Goga where cleaning fish together, joking around and having genuine fun. It was then that Roga decided to take Rosco aboard his ship, it would do Goga some good to have a friend close by and Roga was actually starting to enjoy the change of pace that having new people in his life brought. From that day forward Goga and Rosco where inseparable.
Life for the next dozen years where simple, Goga worked on his ship fishing with his father and his best friend; then spent his days off exploring the island and having boxing matches with Skip. But despite the fact these where happy times Goga always felt that he was meant for something more, something more substantial than a fisherman's life. He was just very unsure of what his future would be, that was until he saw the crew of the New Earth. He was 14 when helped his friend Rosco unload the New Earth of it's cargo, they spent hours helping the crew, it was during this time Goga made up his mind. Watching Rango's crew, how free and happy they where made his heart swell, it was then he knew he would be a pirate. After years of listening to Rosco talk about his pirate dreams Goga finally understood what his friend was going on about.
Though the 2 wanted to leave immediately they had to wait until their 18th birthdays, and so they did. When Goga was 18 and Rosco was 20 the duo sailed deep into East Blue until they found a small abandoned island. Eating nothing but fish and rice the two have spent 5 years on this island developing themselves into polished pirates. They have used up all their supplies and the time is finally right; it's time to find the right crew that's capable of aiding Rosco and Goga in forming the Free Nation, their dream. After leaving their island getaway the New Earth headed out in search of a crew to fill it, then they would search for the dream island in which to settle down.
Personality: A gentle giant at heart, Goga's mass of muscles comes only second to his kindness and positive attitude. Having been discriminated against and out casted several times in his life Goga has developed a personality that could weather any storm, he's the Joyous Fisherman of the Free Pirates.
Devil Fruit: none.
Special Abilities, other than DF powers:
Other than his natural fishman strength and developed body, Goga has also been worked into strong fighter by his father. Being made to wrestle and fight sea creatures since he was a little boy there has yet to be a animal that has overcome Goga in the water. Rosco and Goga have also boxed each other since they where kids, each developing their own unique style.
Goga is also a very skilled fighter with his fishing spear, being able to strike as well as throw it while having complete control with the rope tied to the end. Though he usually only uses it in combat if absolutley necessary, too much risk of breaking it.
As strict rule, since he's a diver Goga never uses his legs in a fight. If he injured his large foot fins while kicking an opponent then he might not be able to catch his prey. So Goga has compensated my bulking up his arms through strenuous work and training.
Learned Techniques:
Flowing Water Boxing- Goga's signature boxing style. Smooth, fast and powerful strike that flow effortlessly as Goga tight and flowing footwork float him around his opponent. The core of this style was developed from years of fighting Rosco in countless boxing matches; but what gives this style its quality is the training only a fishman could do. From his teens years up until today Goga as trained his boxing on the ocean floor weighed down by rocks and the pressure of the sea the essence of this style comes from the flowing water.
Fish Speak: An ability of fishmen, it allows communication aquatic life. Usually doesn't work on marine mammals.
Spinning Swordfish- A technique Goga usually uses to ambush very large prey from underneath. Goga dives deeps underwater with his spear in hand(at least 125-150 ft), then as he meet the peak of his decent he start arcing at an upward angle. Now he uses all his reserves of energy build his speed swimming faster and faster, and eventually starting to corkscrew in the water as he builds a whirlpool behind him that pushes him even faster forward. While he does this he keeps his hand centered on his holding his spear tightly, the end extending up past his head. As Goga makes contact with his prey he delivers a devastating piercing attack that will peirce most any sea creature. If the attack were to not hit Goga would be torpedoed at least a hundred ft in the air.
Spinning Hammerhead- A much more devastating version of the spinning swordfish. The swordfish focusing on a direct pierce with the spear causing deep and severe damage, but the spinning hammerhead on the other hand deliver a much more devastating blow. The attack is the exact same up until impact, instead of using the spear Goga forces all of his energy into one punch. A devastating blow that could breach the a ship though Goga has yet to use it in such a way.
Weapons/Items:
Heavy net- Thick rope net used for catching fish and animals of a decent size.
Light net- A finer rope net used to catch small fish and sea creatures.
Fishing pole- Bamboo pole reinforced with steel, given to Goga from his father.
Fishing Spear- Light accurate spear with a thin durable rope on the end allowing to be pulled back to the user.
Goals: Having grown up with Rosco, Goga also shares the deep passion for freedom that drives them forward; but unlike Rosco Gogo also dreams of one day visiting Fishman island, the home of his ancestors. He wishes to one day show his people he's their proud brother.
