History: Winston comes from a noble family on the island known as Full Stream. The island got its strange name from the stream that runs through it. While this stream might not be all that impressive to some, the fact is the stream crosses the entire island, which is almost twenty miles across. Not only that, but the stream does not wind around the island, but stays on an almost perfectly straight path.
Winston was well taken care of as he grew up. He always had his basic needs fulfilled and got many of the things he wanted, although his parents chose not to give him everything he wanted. They were afraid of spoiling him. However, his parents were not often around. They cared for Winston, but their lives consisted of going to parties and working long hours, so Winston was often left on his own. He found ways to entertain himself when he was young and he did have a few friends among his servants, but no one could replace his parents.
When Winston entered school his life changed dramatically. He no longer had as much free time as before and now he was expected to learn how to act properly for his station. Winston did not like any of his classmates and he hated their sense of superiority, but since his parents had high hopes for him, Winston did his best.
When he was fourteen, Winston learned that his parents had arranged a marriage for him to a girl he had never met before. He did end up meeting her after that on several occasions and he did think she was pretty and nice, but he didn’t like the fact that he had no choice. However, once again he bowed to his parent’s wishes and did not speak against their decision.
Winston grew older and soon he was an adult. He was married to his fiancée and started into his new life. His parents gave him a couple of family heirlooms, two rings that were said to contain great power within them. Even with all this, Winston was not content. He wanted to see the world, to do great things. He wanted to see pirates, fight bandits, save the helpless. Now that his parents were no longer in control of him, Winston found himself now bowing to the wishes of society and it disgusted him. He did not want what he had, but he reminded himself that he was better off then most people and so he stayed where he was.
On Winston’s twenty-second birthday a group of revolutionaries came to the island and captured it. Winston tried to get both his wife and himself off of the island, but it turned out that his wife was a revolutionary as well and she had planned this attack. Winston was forced to beat a hasty retreat and fled the island. He came back later to find the island still occupied by revolutionaries, however it was now surrounded by Marine vessels The Marines attacked the island and killed most of the revolutionaries, but they managed to capture a few of them. One of those revolutionaries was Winston’s wife. After the Marines learned her true identity, Winston’s own life was in danger. Now the Marines were coming after him and once more he was forced to run for life.
Winston left the island and traveled a long ways before finally stopping and getting a job at a restaurant. He would later learn that his wife was executed by the Marines. Winston was not particularly good at his new job, but he learned quickly and soon his employers realized he was a natural cook. For the first time, Winston was happy with where he was. It was also true that at times he longed for the conveniences he had once enjoyed, but those were long gone now and he had never really wanted them in the first place.
Winston’s life took another turn after three years. The Marines had found where he was and they moved in on the restaurant where he worked. Winston was forced to run and hide in the city. About this time the Snow Pirates had arrived in town. Zak Martin ran into Winston and helped him out of a tight fix when he was surrounded by Marines. The two of them worked together to try and escape the city. They almost accomplished this, but then Zak was caught off guard and took a bullet. As the Marines moved in to finish off Zak, Winston got in front of him and tried to protect him. Just before the Marines could kill Winston, a beam of light burst out of one of Winston’s rings that he was wearing and that beam struck down several of the Marines. It turned out the rumors were true about those rings. They each possessed a separate devil fruit ability. Winston quickly figured out that the other ring had some sort of gravity ability and he tore into the Marines, pushing them back. Then two Marine Lieutenants appeared. They easily overwhelmed Winston, but then Edmund Armstrong and John Rierdan appeared. They had been wondering where Zak had gone. Together they defended Zak and Winston and defeated the Marines. John then did some quick work on Zak before Edmund picked up the boy and they all set off for the Snow Pirate’s ship with Winston in tow.
Alice and Risty met up with them on their way back to the ship. Apparently some Marines, including a captain, had attacked the ship, but Alice, Risty, and Sora had fought them off. Sora was still back at the ship, guarding it. When Alice learned what Winston had done for Zak, she asked him to come with them. After she learned he was a cook, she put him in a headlock and said she was going to force him to come with them. Edmund managed to talk her out of it, but even then Alice begged Winston to come with them. He agreed and they all set sail once more.
