| Name: Chidori Epithet: Teiden no Chidori, (lit. "Power Outage" Chidori) Age: 17 Bounty: 0 Species: Mermaid Occupation: Musician Allegiance: Pirate Home Village/Ocean: Fishman Island, Grand Line Appearance: History: Chidori was born on Fishman Island, the product of a Fishman father and a Mermaid mother. She was an interestingly exceptional case; while most such offspring's race depended on the chance between Fishman and Merfolk, in Chidori's case her phenotype took an interesting turn. Instead of having a body resembling a humanoid fish like her father and being a Fishgirl, or an upper body of a human and lower one of a fish like her mother and being a mermaid, she instead possessed a Fishman's characteristics combined with a Mermaid's physique. She was still genetically a Mermaid like her mother, but appearance wise, due to some mutation, her upper-body resembled a Fishwoman. This resulted in her being viewed as an outcast since birth. While her parents loved her dearly and always told her how she was the most beautiful creature in the Grand Line, that did little to quell the ridiculous comments passed to her by all the other inhabitants. Every bit having her feet stuck in two boats, no pun intended, she was not accepted among her the Fishkids her age or the Merfolk her age and even the adults seemed to look at her strangely, as if one would be looking at a freak of nature. And she was everybit a freak of nature, no doubt. So, from a young age, Chidori suffered. Whether it be the lack of anyone willing to socialize with her, the cruel comments about her ugly appearance, or, as she grew older, the pranks that all the younger kids played on "Monster-neechan". She was not beautiful enough like the other mermaids to belong with them and the Fishwomen literally despised her. With the death of her father, her only solace was her mother, who was the only one who could understand her daughter's perdicament. Forced into a life of solitude, Chidori would often be found just dreaming to get out of the Hellhole that was her "home". She didn't belong here and she knew it, despite her mother reassuring her otherwise. When she was old enough, Chidori began to get out of Fishman Island and go exploring. She often trained by wrestling with other creatures of the sea as much as she could and built up her abilities, deciding to become a fighter if not anything else. She knew why she wanted to become a fighter. She wanted to take down every other creature in the sea; that way, people would recognize her worth. If they treated her like a freak of nature, she'd be one and gain their respect. Her second goal was also accomplished; the more powerful creatures she beat, the stronger she got and the stronger she got the more she would be able to go out into the sea and, maybe, just maybe, find a place where she belongs. And then she met a black-haired genius Pirate Captain and his crew. Personality: Cynical and headstrong, Chidori is well known amongst her fellow Pirates for her sarcastic personality. She has a bad complusive habit of making wise-cracks, making sarcastic, or even mocking, comments regarding situations that she finds herself in. Apart from the Captain, Chidori frequently disrespects the authourity of her superiors, particularly the First Mate and other senior members, who she displays the most impertinence towards. A driven woman, she is both headstrong and forthright; following what her instincts tell her, whether her fellow pirates approve or not. In a fight, she will come out strong and is not afraid to use deadly force when necessary. Chidori also has a slight tendency to look for a fight rather than just perform the task she is given when she is told. In short, her flight/fight switch has been locked into fight mode, as she sees an enemy around every corner. Chidori has a seething dislike of both Fishmen and Mermaids, attributed to how she was treated by most of them and she often would interact cruelly towards other people of such species unless they actually manage to earn her respect (which takes a lot of warming up). She is hardworking, who is willing to do whatever odd jobs that her Captain gives her. Yet, as opposed to popular belief, Chidoi does have a softer side. There are things that can tug at her heartstrings. Like, though it’s been rare to Chidori, love, and though yes, children tug at her heartstrings sometimes. Due to the prejudice and loneliness she suffered in her childhood, Chidori developed a craving for acknowledgment. In order to achieve this, Chidori would fight and train herself all around the ocean near Fishman Island, wrestling all sorts of bigger species and often getting into trouble with Sea Kings even. She decided to strive to become the strongest offspring of Fishman Island ever, stronger than any other Fishman and faster than any other Mermaid out there, and find a place where she belongs. Ship: Monkey King Ship Flag: The Avenger Pirates' jolly roger; she does not have her own. Yet. Devil Fruit: Not Applicable Type: Not Applicable Effect: Not Applicable Special Abilities: While she has phenotypes resembling both Merfolk and Fishwomen (her upper body is that of a Fishwoman), she is still genetically a Mermaid and therefore possesses a Mermaid's abilities. Also, due to being an electric ray-based species both from her father and her mother's side, she possesses bioelectrical abilities as well. - Amphibious Physiological Adaptation: Chidori's body is specially developed for underwater conditions, granting her specialized blood circulation to withstand freezing temperatures and highly developed vision to see clearly even in murky ocean depths. She possesses both lungs and gills. This physiology means she can survive indefinitely underwater or on land, though she would still need occasional contact with water to survive.
- Superhuman Strength: Like all those possessing Fishman blood, Chidori is superhumanly strong, though she does not attribute her great strength to her father. Mostly, it comes from the private training sessions she used to do when wrestling with other sea creatures, while most other Mermaids, in her words, "were being fat, blonde, scaleless pigs who could not punch a plankton if it killed them and wasted themselves in the Mermaid Cafe". She is capable of lifting 10 tonnes over her head with maximum effort, and while she can't take down one just yet, one of her goals is to one day get strong enough to break a Sea King in half with a single punch.
- Superhuman Speed: Like all those possessing Merfolk blood, Chidori, when underwater, can move at speeds greater than even the finest aquatic specimen, easily fulfilling every mermaid's monikor of being the fastest swimmer in the world. She is not as fast on land as she is in water, in fact she is incredibly slow because she can't really move much with her mermanus tail, but she makes up for it with her strength. Like most powerful mermaids, she can swim at speeds greater than 60 miles per hour.
- Aquatic Telepathy: Like all mermaids, Chidori possesses a telepathic rapport with all forms of marine life. She is able to mentally communicate with most forms of marine life and can mentally persuade them to do her bidding, though she can only convince them, not force them like mind control.
- Bioelectricity Generation: Coincidentally, both of Chidori's parents were electric ray type Fishman/Mermaid, making Chidori inherit the ability as well. Hence, like all electric rays, she is the most electro-sensitive of all animals, and can generate an electric dischage of upto 440 volts, capable of killing any average human. She also has electroreceptive abilities, allowing her to detect electric fields around her and around others. She can use this ability for electrolocation (detecting objects in a manner similar to the echolocation used by bats).
Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25): Apart from her general mermaid/fishwoman abilities, Chidori has also learned to use her electrical abilities and created quite a few techniques with it. As water, especially salty seawater is a great electrical conductor, the damage scale of all her electricity-based techniques is magnified underwater. - Spoiler:
- White Lotus: One of Chidori's signature techniques, it is a simple lightning blast which will be fatal to any normal human being, unless they're durable enough to survive, possess some sort of special abilities or redirect or block the attack in some way. In order to perform the technique, she often performs a circular motion with the arms before pointing her thumb and index claws at the target. The bluish-white streak of electricity shoots out from those two claws.
- Black Lotus: Instead of merely focusing the bioelectrical force into her body, Chidori is able to extend it outside of her body and through objects which she is holding. This allows her to create a protective zone around her person, just like a real electric ray. This zone of electricity can shock and immobilize her foes, presumably by attacking their nervous system.
- Blinding Streak: A simple technique in which Chidori brings her hands together and generates a flash of electricity capable of blinding any opponent caught within its radius for a couple minutes (a post), she often uses this technique to make a quick getaway or to distract an opponent and attack from the blindside.
- Nova Burst: Chidori can conduct her bioelectricity through a piece of wire, in order to perform an attack of light and electromagnetic force run through some normal wire, to blind them for a short while, similar to the Blinding Streak.
- Mermaid's Song: Chidori concentrates her bioelectricity into her closed mouth. She then utilizes the concentrated bioelectricity to release a strong bolt of electricity from its mouth.
Mermaid's Tail: Chidori points her tail at the target and from the fin, a long spear of electricity shoots out capable of cutting through a foe.
- Mermaid's Touch: Using her bioelectricity, she can adhere most objects/people/species to surfaces and other objects by placing an opposite electrostatic charge on the surface and the obstacle, plus Chidori can magnetize surfaces.
- Taser Punch: One of Chidori's strongest attacks. Activating the body to focus her bioelectricity to the hand, Chidori's hand becomes enveloped by an electrical current. By altering the shape of the force, similar to an electrical discharge, she can decide the power and range of the attack. After concentrating all the bioelectricity into the hand, Chidori performs an electrified punch administered during combat to send opponents flying, similar effects to a Taser Gun.
- Mermaid's Kiss: Often performed on a living opponent, Chidori grabs onto an opponent and then brings them in for a kiss, sending a large amount of bioelectricity through them when their lips meet. While the strength of the attack itself is relatively weak, it depends on the duration of the kiss. If Chidori can use her strength to bind a target long enough she could knock them out, or, potentially kill them.
Weapons/Items: None Goals: To become the strongest creature in the sea, to get acknowledgement and to find a place where she belongs.

| Fishmen mermaid hybrids don't exist. As we learned in the last chapter, the children of a fishman and a mermaid are either full fishman or full mermaid. It doesn't make much sense, but it just is that way. I'm not sure if I can accept any "special cases".... Other mods? | |

| Nikky seemed to be okay with it...
And I've been throwing around the idea of a "merfish" around the cbox for the past three days and no one said anything. I know they don't exist "normally", that's the basis for her character.
Oh, and she's complete now. Almost. Just need an Occupation. | |
