| The Grey Code had been called back to their base in the Holy Land of Mariejoa. It was a discrete building, built in the shadow of the headquarters building to attract less attention. Few people had the privilege to stay in Mariejoa for any extended period of time, but Grey Code, one of the world government's most valued groups of agents, could. Apparently, they had a new recruit. Zero didn't particularly like not being let in the know, but being directly under the world government, there was little he could do to protest their decisions.
Zero was impatiently waiting in the main hall of the Grey Code base, and soon a world government informant came to see him. "Who is the new one?" Zero asked, a hint of impatience in his tone. "It's a mermaid, Sir. Zero." The informant stated flatly. Zero looked at him incredulously for a moment. "A mermaid?" He repeated the informant's statement. "Where was she trained?" Zero wasn't happy with this, but hoped she would be of some use. "She hasn't been formally trained yet." The informant replied.
Zero rose up and slammed the table with his fist. "What the HELL?" He was fuming by now. His crew had been saddled with an untrained mermaid. Zero valued his crew highly, and this was like sabotage to him. "Look, Zero." The informant dared to use a less formal way of calling him. "You can mold her as you wish. She can be an opportunity." Zero looked at him with slitted eyes and then pointed at the door. "Out. Now." The informant hurried up and walked off in a rush. Zero sat back into his chair, holding his head in his hands. Then he rose up again, grabbing den-den mushi connected to speaker snails all around the base. He took the receiver and spoke into it. "Calling all Grey Code members to a meeting in the main hall now." He put the receiver down and waited.

| Sonia sighed, a meeting with the rest of the Grey Code. She had been demoted and the rest was a blur. She knew about the Grey Code and that they had fought yonkou Anubis evenly at one point. She was still undecided on Zero. He seemed like an up and down sort of guy. She no longer had her Vice admiral coat, that was gone, but she still had her suit which she wore with pride. She walked to the meeting hall, amazed by how deep the World government was with its decor. She walked into the room "Im here Zero, whats the big situation? and why on earth was there talk of mermaids?" | |

| (Seriously?)
"Apparently, we are being saddled with one, Two." Zero looked up at the first one to come. "I don't know why, but we have to deal with this somehow. " He said. "I'd rather just get rid of her, but since they saw fit to force her on us, it's not going to pass. We need to get some use out of her."

| "A mermaid?" Dame six, Patrizia, came into the room. She had overheard parts of the conversation. "What are we supposed to do with a mermaid? she most likely didn't even have training!" It was hard to hide her irritation. Not only had she been raised a noble for the first years of her life, but she also found t offensive that the government would have a mermaid join their crew. What were they, some kind of junkjard? | |

| (Sooo... no more posters. Fun. I'm giving up waiting on more people with this thread.)
"Our value in their eyes seems to have gone down for some reason." Zero remarked. "But this is still remarkably odd and infuriating." Zero had managed to get over the initial burst of anger, but was still fuming inside and his tone hinted the part. "Perhaps we should call in our new recruit." He commented venomously. "We shall see how worthless she truly is, and if we can use her somehow." Zero usually valued his crew, but he was not willing to take an unprepared newcomer as a comrade. He hoped that this mermaid had some skill, but doubted it. Reportedly, this was a no-name.
It was also reported that the new one was waiting nearby, and she could be called in. He took a look at the note slipped by the informant. It all seemed so contrary to procedure. Like someone was mocking him and all of Grey Code. But he was powerless. And he hated it.
This was a stranger however, and his cordiality took over, albeit impaired by his feelings.. "This is Zero from the Grey Code speaking. You know why. We would have you arrive to the main hall of the building post-haste."

| Six had learned all the rules. She had trained for years. She had gone through hundreds of files to find potential allies and threats out and eliminate or befriend them one or the other way before they could turn into a hassle. But this. This was new. She started wondering if it was some lind of sick practical joke the higher ups had thought up... Let the mermaid mess up every single job and drive them to madness, afterwards have a good laugh about it. Was this what they had been degraded to? A joke? She looked at Zero. She knew he felt the same about this. This was a humilitation. But not if she had a say in this. If that mermaid girl messed up even once... she'd make sure that scum would get the right punishment! With this thought in her head, she waited eagerly to get to meet her new... ally.... | |

| Sonia said nothing. She was still getting use to the discrepancies and order of things around here. Though she got into Grey Code thanks to alot of things, she had a feeling that they worked their own angles. But a mermaid? That was new, merfolk did not hide their dislike of humans thanks to the nobles slave trading. Something which Sonia detested, but had no real say over. She looked over to Dame 6 "Have we had many fish folk before this join us? Or is this a first?" | |

| "No, this is a first." Six said to the other newbie. Sonia Parreira, daughter of one of the gorosei... Therefor above her in birthright... Used to be the strongest woman of the marines... Yes, six would definitely try not to get into trouble with her.

| Crista blinked as she was told that her new crew was ready to meet her. She stood up Straight and took a deep breath as she held her hands behind her back and walked toward the doors. Crista pretty much knew she was almost useless on land, but in the ocean, she could do so manny things. Sneek under and even beside enemy ships, Become bait for pirates who hunt mermaids. Even hipmatize pirate men into giving up information...well, that was only sometimes, but still. She hoped to make a good impresstion, though her outfit she wore was far from anything profetional. Which was just a toob top with a matching skirt. She opened the door slowly and peared in before walking all the way in infrout of her now new crew mates...

| Zero immediately turned his gaze toward the mermaid as she entered. He wordlessly gestured towards an available chair close to the middle of the room. He was determined to handle this with civility, despite the absurdity of the situation. After all, they were still professionals.
Perhaps this was a test of some sort. How they handled this. It might have consequences. He would just ascertain if there was anything to be gained from the newbie for the team. "So.. You are the mermaid recruit I've heard about. I understand you are named Crista?" It wasn't really even a question as much as a statement. He had managed to glean quite a bit of information from the paperwork. He decided to get right to business. "We have no word on your training. What are your skills?"

| She didn't seem to be the smartest one... Or maybe she was trying to be all cute, in which case... Just pfeh. Six really didn't like it when girls only relied on their cuteness. Besides, that wouldn't work on Zero! Right? She gave him a quick look to assure herself, then fixed her eyes on Crista again. Her face was completely neutral, while in her mind, she had to admit, she had already judged the girl before knowing her, and that judgement was most likely final. | |

| Sonia didnt really reply much. Personally she did not mind merfolk, but that didnt mean she was in love with them either, she had seen her fair share of monstrous fishmen who came up to the surface and tried to claim lands for their own. While slavery made Sonia sick, murder of innocent people did little to quell her heart. She decided to say nothing, in this situation that was the best course of action. She was noticing how 6 was wary of her. The reason though eluded her completely. | |

| Zero sighed and pressed his head down to his hands, as if cradling an incoming headache. This was going to be way more trouble than it was worth, but they'd have to do it. Somehow, they'd have to turn a lodestone into a useful contribution. They should waste no time.
"I cannot see why you were sent here, you obviously aren't qualified. But none of us have a choice in the matter. The world government has made their decisions, however inane, and the rest of us have to abide by them." Zero spoke. "We'll just have to make you qualified." He spoke out the solution, determined not to let this put the crew down.
They'd just have to train her. Maybe the informant was right. But he still wasn't happy with it. They were supposed to get qualified folks, the best of the world government. This was clearly not happening anymore. The other new-ish recruit at least had her perks, but this one was simply weird. He'd have to get to the bottom of it sometime.

| Sonia raised an eyebrow. She didnt really think much about Zero. She knew he was an able commander and fighter, but she did feel he was being harsh with the mermaid. Still what he said was sensible , she was clearly not qualified to join such a high level group. Still what was the government up to by taking this course of action. She wondered if her father had a hand in this act. | |

| Crista looked down as she just feel the annoyed and angery stares at her. She wonder why they where so angery. Merfolk and the goverment where allies and the goverment helped same them when young ones where kidnaped and put up for slaves. She blinked as she looked up at her knee captain and nodded, not really knowing what to say. |

| Zero looked puzzled at Cyan, but quickly decided to ignore her hijinks and focus on the matter at hand.
"We don't have missions at the moment, so we may as well look into this." Zero said. "We need to train this.. mermaid." Beginning the sentence as if to say the last word with particular distaste, but pulling back the venom at the last moment.
He rose up from his seat. "I will look into if there's anything behind this. Luckily, we have the time to deal with these things right now." He then looked directly at Crista, addressing her directly. "As for you, we will start training you in the trade forthwith."

| Sonia then sat up "How exactly will we train her? Dont we have assignments to do as well? Well, i suppose you can train her, im not too good at training people." Sonia told the truth, she was terrible at teaching others, and most of all, she didnt want to get into trouble this early in her tenure under Grey Code. | |

| Six was curious about it as well. Who would have to train... her? Surely not one of the devilfruit users, since she was sure water would be involved. She gave the mermaids legs a curious look. She didn't look that old.. So she couldn't have them for long. Maybe one of them would take over training her fighting skills on land? She looked towards the ceiling as if in silent prayer. Please, pleaaase don't let it be me... | |
