History:
Kiana was daughter of a Shandorian mother and a father from Arabasta. Her mother, Via, was a Shandorian Warrior and daughter of the tribal leader. Her people were fighting against a crew of pirated who claimed to merchants for Skypiea before they began to ravage the land for treasured. Her father, Jahi, was an anthropologist on that boat who believed that these pirates were merchants. He agreed to help them find the way to Skypea so that he would have a way to get there to study the people living there. He was appalled by the deception of the pirates and chose to fight alongside the Shandorians against the pirates. After the pirates were repelled, he lived with the Shandorians for many years until he became entranced by their legends and began to search for more clues regarding their many treasures.
After Kiana was born, Jahi decided to leave to search for these legendary objects. Relations with Skypians and Shandorians weren't the best so Via asked Jahi to take Kiana with him.The shandians built a water/skycraft, dial operated hybrid boat for him that would allow him to return to the island when he wished to that he could bring Kiana back frequently so see her mother. He began to research the secrets of the Shandians and his research lead him to a man named Kitaru. ((Kitaru is the father of character Sanura Jade)) Jahi collaborated with Kitaru's knowledge of the antiquities. During his numerous visits with Kitaru, Kiana was brought along and spent much of her childhood with Kitaru's Daughters Jade and Nikara. She also spent time with the local black smith and developed a fascination for metal working. During the time she spent with her father, he taught her how to be exceedingly skilled with a bo staff, as this was hes weapon of choice. She also learned to be skilled with a bow and arrow from her black smith friend.
After Kitaru's death, Jahi was also killed due to the same incident. Kiana joined Jade and Nikara's pirate crew as a blacksmith and an aid to their shipwright. The crew was later disbanded after Nikara's death and so Kiana was left alone. She took her father's ship and spend some time with her mother before visiting the other sky islands. Her mother encouraged her to explore and gave two of her favourite breath dials to aid her journey, should she fail to find with for her sail. Once during her travels, she ran into Jade, her old captain. She caught jade in the act of cutting open a grave robber from the top of his shoulder to the top of his hip. She had never seen such brutality in her childhood friend. Jade exchanged a few friendly words with Kiana before leaving.
"My father spent much of his life looking for certain treasures. Some of these he fond in memory of my mother, some he never found,and others he paid for with his life. Two of the treasures he found were left for my sister and I. My sister, as you know, cannot reap the benefits of any treasure. You are the closest thing in this world that I have to a sister and my father was always very fond of you as if you were his own.
[Here a map is drawn]
When you arrive, please take Nikara's treasure. One day we will meet again and fight side by side but I can't say when and why that may be. Please be patient and make good use of the what Nikara never got to experience.
May your journey's be safe and... fruitful.
-S. Jade"
She followed the map to a cave of a deserted sky island that was home to Jade's mother. There she found a box containing a devil fruit that was meant for Jade's sister, Nikara. She ate the fruit and began to adjust to her new abilities which allowed her to manipulate heat. She left the island and began to develop her abilities with her spare breath dial, given to her by her mother. She began to use her abilities to become a sort of free lance blacksmith, making bizarre specialized weapons.
One of her clients requested two custom swords that she was meant to deliver at Water 7. There she spotted her old captain's ship in the harbor before it was haul into a yard for repairs. She decided to see what Jade was up to and climbed aboard her ship just as she repairs were completed, before Jade came to retrieve her boat.
Personality:
Kiana is a bit snarky and playful She would generally have a dry, yet comical remark for everyone on the ship during her Khafra Pirate days which almost always got her punted overboard and called a "Shanbastard" in playful reference to her pedigree as a response. She's a very rational creature but never displays the extent of her knowledge or abilities to anyone. She functions as an easy-going thing with little thought beyond tomorrow. She loves maticulous projects, particulary building thing involving metal working.
Weapons: Long iron filled titanium bō staff with the dimensions of a staff with a sharpened spear-like tip so it make also be used an an over-sized spear. (Like a Macedonian Sarisa used in phalanx combat) It also has a detachable titanium plated silver scythe blade that rests a about ten inches from the tip so the sharpened tip may still be used. The scythe blade has a poison chamber with the reservoir connected to the to the bō itself so that it may also be dispensed to the bō's tip, if needed. The poison is rarely used but if it is, it is only lethal if more than half up the contents of the staff are used which is a lot. The poison causes a rapidly spreading rash that itches HORRIBLY and swells with fluid as the body tries to combat the toxins. It only causes a necrotizing effect if the toxins are administered in a high dosage at the same spot. This can only be done with the spear part, kind of like an injection, since that much poison would not be on the scythe blade at one time for a single slice... unless the opponent were to just kind of stand there with the blade in them for a prolonged period of time. The is a set of two triggers in the middle of the staff to initiate the poisons release on the staff point and the scythe blade.
Non Devil fruit abilities:
Builds specialty, modified weapons that she must test and perfect which gives her a very wide range of weapons she is capable of handing. She is most skilled with a bo staff and a bow and arrow.
Devil Fruil abilities:
Friction Friction Fruit - Level: Molecular
Type: Paramecia
The fruit give the user the ability to cause the molecules of any object touched to vibrate violently producing various, controlable levels of heat.
Battle Context:
User can severely burn human skin where touched. The burn does not heavily spread but merely leave burn-prints of precisely where it was touched. Tissue damage becomes deeper, the longer the contact. Objects (usually metal) can be super headed and thrown/swung at opponent. User can also super heat molecules within the air itself. This ability may be used in combination with a breath dial to create a heat wave that loses heat the further it travels. An opponent would have to be very close to the dial to experience a burn from the air.
Utilitarian Context:
The user can super heat metal objects including weapons which makes user a sort of walking blacksmith's forge. User can super heat water to make water vapor that can be used for steam-bending wood and other materials which make be useful for various projects of ship repairs. Ability (with breath dial) can be used to dry out various food stuffs or wet objects. It can also be used this way to extract sea-salt from sea water.
Goal: Creating the ultimate arsenal of weaponry for a cause and crew worthy of of their lethal abilities.
~~~~~Special Techniques~~~~~
"Blazing Reaper" - Her poison scythe is grasped, friction devil fruit exciting the molecules to glow white hot. The scythe is then brought down at a diagonal, the wicked, hot blade leaving a deep cut and severe burn in its wake upon the unlucky victim.
"Hearth of Hades" - Her poison scythe is super heated via her fruit ability and is spun rapidly, changing hands to rotate as it spins around her body, burning and cutting anything in it's path on impact.
"Dragons Breath" - Her scythe is held for a two handed horizontal slash at torso level. If executed properly, this is a fatal slash, spilling the organs of the impacted torso.
"Toxic Flame" - The scything is super heated and the poison chamber activated. The scythe is spun, dispensing the poison on the blade to rapidly infect the cut of the victim.
"Widow's Bite" - Unlike the Toxic Flame, this technique does not involve heating and the poison is activated after impact. The scything is swung above the head to decline in a downward ark like a giant tooth. After the scything penetrated the flech, the poison is dispensed, locking the toxin deep within the victims tissue.
"Angel of Death" - Her demon blood katana is spun, moving from hand to hand in a figure 8 pattern as it is super heated until the blade glows red and white, it is then used in the figure 8 slashing motion in combat.
"Molten Mist" - Small fragments of steel, taken as debris from her forge are kept with her in a pouch. They a picked up and melted in her hand and flung at an opponents, covering them with a mist of whit-hot molten metal, leaving them dotted with small speckles of severe burns, the metal adhering to their skin as it cools.
"Death Spa" - She pours water into her mouth and super heats it with her fruit power and blows it out as a scalding vapor, capable of 3rd degree burns if the victim is within close range.
"Unbound Forgery" - One of her blacksmiths hammers is heated and used in an over head swing at the victims skull. Years of developing muscles associated with these motions as a black smith make this a particularly fatal blow.
"Charred Asphyxiation" This is a choke hold, involving her fruit ability burning the thin flesh of the neck as the victim is savagely choked within the strong grip of the blacksmith.
