Called Off the Chase; A New Transfer (Closed)

Ba-dup-a-dup-a-dup. Mara knew all to well that sound meant. Looking at the den-den mushi on her desk, she wondered why they would pick now to call her. Picking it up, she gave her name and rank. "Mara, ranking captain of the Sea Slicer speaking. The voice on the other side belonged to a nervous call operator who was stuttering every other word. "Y-yes. Captain M-Mara; your p-presence is re-requested at t-he nearest out-outpost." It seemed as though a shadow were cast across Mara's face. She had only just learned where her rival was, and now she was being called away from her chase for who knows what. How long would she need to catch back up with Jackson? Would she even be able- "M-Mam? Are y-you there?" Shaking her head, she responded, "Yes. And I got the message. I will change my course immediately."

Arriving at the small marine outpost, Mara was met with a warm reception. Another captain she once served under as an ensign and later a lieutenant , was waiting at the docks. The man was a head and a half taller than Mara and his face had primarilly squared features. A thin anchor style beard covered his chin. "Captain Bowen." A smile crossed her face as she saw the older man and saluted. He responded by holding a finger in the air and waving it back and forth. "That's Commodore Bowen now. And stop with the formalities. You'll have time for those later. How is the Grand Line treating you captain?" Mara's response was less than enthusiastic. "Well so far." Bowen cocked his head slightly and once again waved his finger. "What happened to the enthusiastic Mara that I suggested become a captain?" The old student averted her eyes and glanced down at her sword, to which Bowen took notice. "I see." His demeanor instantly changed to a positive one as he turned and began to walk towards the outpost building. "Come along then. We should discuss your new transfer."

The words puzzled Mara, who stood without following for a few seconds, saying under her breath, "New transfer?" Bowen stopped and without turning, made his reply. "Ah yes. Gnopped C. Dust is his name. He should be just inside." Resuming his pace, Mara rapidly caught up. "A recruit?" Her old captain stifled a laugh, once again shaking his finger. "Close, but no. Seaman first class." Upon reaching the building, attending marines opened the large double doors and the two stepped inside.

((Bowen is a minor character from Mara's history. Technically an NPC. So you can have him speak a few words for Gnopped. Maybe they know each other, maybe they don't. I just chose to use him rather than make up a new character on the spot. [I don't like using nameless characters in an actual conversation.] The detail of the post was really just to show his personality.))

Gnopped was waiting inside the marine building sitting on a granite bench just behind the entrance Knowing a captain would pick him up soon, that Bowen guy he met before was talking a long time about how great her former aprentice Mara was, and that it really was a privelage that Mara would become his captain,

Gnopped who didn't know what to except of Mara and decided to just wait. He sincerly hoped Mara was a kind and a rightenous women, and not a bloodshedding cold machine without any feeling, *well what-ever it will be alright * gnopped thought to himself while he was enjoying a cup of coffee and watching the clock tick,

Commodore Bowen entered the room speaking, Mara just one step behind. "Ah, Gnopped." As he was waving the transfer over to them, Mara spoke up. "You still despise the formalities I see?" Raising a finger inches from Mara's face, Bowen wagged it back and forth. "People already respect me. I don't need them to make poses." His focus once again shifted to Gnopped. "This is your new captain, Mara Kund."

''thanks Commodore Bowen'' gnopped said while saluting to both Commodore Bowen and captain mara , after the solution gnopped walked up to mara shaking her hand'' I am gnopped, nice to meet you Captain Mara, I am looking forward serving under your cause''

Bowen shook his finger at Gnopped. "Her cause is the same as the last officer you worked with." With a quick smirk, he turned to move deeper into the building. "You will find your effects have already made their way to Mara's ship." He turned his head briefly and looked at Mara. "T'was good to see you again captain." With that, the commodore walked through another door which was closed behind him, leaving Mara and Gnopped alone in the foyer.

Mara remained standing in the hallway, her full attention to the new crew mate. "So, Gnopped. Have you been on the Grand Line long?"

''well captain, I think around 4 -8years for now lost the count'' answered gnopped with a smile on his face ''how bout you''

Cracking a smile, Mara replied to the new transfer. "Born and raised on it. But since you are familiar with the ocean, I can spare you the explanation. Shall we be off then?" Without waiting for a reply, she proceeded to walk out the door, the marines from before opening it as she passed.

''sure captain'' gnopped answered in haste following his new captain with haste, wondering what his orther crewmates would be like

As Mara boarded her ship, one of the deck hands met her. "We have Seaman first class' belongings on the ship ma'am. Shall we prepare to depart?" Mara took a moment to consider her options. Jackson would be preparing to leave the island he was on if he had not already. Even if she did manage to catch is trail, she would have to also wait for their log pose to realign. Following his trail at this point would be too slow. "Bring us to the usual patrol routes navigator." The marine saluted and dashed off towards the helm, shouting orders to the deckhands, who prepared the ship for a speedy departure.

Turning towards Gnopped, Mara inquired about his strengths. "So. What skills do you bring to the table? Tell me about yourself." The question was simple, but it would tell Mara what Gnopped would be capable of doing around the ship.

((There are a lot of nameless marines on any marine ship. So you are free to control them or give them names, personalities, appearances, etc.))

''well I mostly do covert ops and inteligence, also I am a quite skillful assasin, using a combination of my gear, Any oponent u wish would be dead soon ma'am as long as the person really needs dead, i hate useless killing. but if you want me anything else to do just say it ma'am'' gnopped answered waiting for his duties,

"Well then," Mara said as she made her way to her quarters. "I do believe you will be a valuable addition to our group. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. And I'm sure you'll fit in."
