Zauberei stands at about 5 ft 9 in. She weighs at about 130ish lbs. Some of those pounds are pure muscle in her arm though. The 'odd blackish color' on the right side of her body is an infection called 'blight.' Blight has taken over the complete right side of her body. Blight is extremely contagious to the touch-but can't pass by through the air.- The first few hours after infection, the disease spreads quickly. After the first day of infection though, the infection rate drops dramatically. I.E. If one person got their finger infected, it would only take a day for the infection to complete 'consume' the said finger. Afterwards it may take up to a year to infect the rest of the hand. If the blight reaches the heart, it is a long and agonizing process to die. It takes about a week to completely consume the heart and stop it. The blight first appears as just a mere skin disease. The infected area will become bubbly and rather grotesque looking. Over the next few hours, the skin will begin to turn black and appear to have deep bruising appearing in colors like dark blue and dark purple. The skin will begin to chip away as well because the blight destroys the cells. It makes the skin very crippled and eventually(after a long amount of time, such as a year) create everything down to the bone extremely crippled as well.
Zauberei often keeps her right hand covered for this reason. She typically dressed in simple black gowns-with a slit in the legs for good leg room- or just dark clothes in general. Whenever she does carry her scythe around, she'll typically have it at rest over her shoulder.
History:
Zauberei was born to a rich class family. They wanted their daughter to just be a simple peon in their own sick game. She was set up with an arranged marriage since she was around three years old. The man was your typically 'rich class bastard.' He was old fashion, believing women were merely tools. Only good for making children. Unfortunately for him, Zauberei is infertile. This didn't become known till much later though.
Her maid took pity on the child. She was the closest thing to a mother Zauberei ever had. She learned how to sew and all the other 'womanly' arts taught to girls. Zauberei didn't really hold interest in the outside world until she was around thirteen. The visits of her fiance were beginning to become more frequent. She hadn't reached puberty yet. It caused her parents to worry, but they didn't act on it.
She didn't hit puberty until she was around sixteen. Rather late for girls of modern times. The arranged marriage time was drawing closer and closer. Zauberei began to realize what the world was about. So many years of ignorant bliss. She was beginning to grow desperate for an escape route. She didn't want to become some man's playtoy. So late one night, she ran.
Ran until her lungs gave out. Down to the city's docks. She snuck a board a merchant ship. A few days past. No food, no water. Her body was incredibly weak. She didn't wish to suffer anymore, so she attempted suicide. Hanging herself. The beautiful art of suicide for a lady of her time.
The merchants were shocked to see the hanging body in the morning. They had no idea how it got there. So they threw the body to the sea, believing the fishes would eat it. They sent off her body on a board. Zauberei thought she 'temporarily died' during the time she floated in the ocean. She remembers her grip slipping and she began to drift under the water. In a matter of moments though, a group of strong hands and arms lifted her from the water. She awoke to find herself surrounded by pirates. The captain(a man with a veil across his face) said she deserved a second chance. So Zauberei slowly gained her strength back. Becoming a pirate, one with monsters and hell-fiends.
It wasn't too difficult. Her own 'inner demon' as she puts it flourished here. She gradually gained respect on the ship. She got a warning from the captain around her 25th birthday. '
Our era of Sleeping Awake will soon become nothing more then a pile of ashes. Take what you can and lead the crew to victory.' Zauberei didn't think much of it at first. Yet as days past, less and less was heard from their beloved captain. It came to the point where he 'disappeared.' No one really knows what quite happened to him.
So Zauberei took control of the ship. As the years rolled by, she met up with a peculiar man. He too was the captain of a ship. She seemed to fall in love with him, but only to have her heart broken. He ended up 'cheating' on her, if they ever really 'were' together. Zauberei sealed off her heart. Why bother playing in a game where no matter what, someone would end up the winner, the other the dead looser?
So here is Zauberei today. She rules over her crew full of fiends and 'criminals.' Her crewmates gave her the nickname the 'corpse bride', believing she is just a shell of a human. Very few know what she's 'really' like underneath all that ice. Perhaps the number should stay that way.
Personality:
Zauberei is pretty macabre and quiet. She doesn't care for human life, though values second chances. She is seen as generous in the only aspect of taking in 'lost souls' into her crew. Full of 'monsters' and 'demons', her crew is made up of the outcasts of society. She rules her crew with an iron fist, allowing no slip ups whatsoever. She seems to hold a bizarre obsession with the dead-might be why she stores them frozen and diseased on her ship o.o- She's been broken hearted before and thus has become asexual, one who doesn't care for the feeling of love. Who knows, perhaps one man can unlock her icy heart though?
