Appearance: A Taller individual, Jackson is unusually thin for that height. Unkempt, dirty blonde hair, a narrow grin, and slanted blue eyes were the usual facial features seen on the pirate. Usually, he wears a pine green jacket with a wide assortment of pockets and high collar over an unmarked white shirt. Regardless of the weather, he will also don a pair of long cargo pants and a pair of brown combat boots. Strapped to his waist lies a rapier with a beautifully adorned hand guard and blade. The waving threads of metal that make up the hand guard are weathered copper green in color along the outer edge. At the base of the blade, the words “Equal Pair” are engraved with gold filling. The scabbard shares the engraved text and has an outer case made of beautiful, green, weathered copper with gold trimming.
History: Raised in the Grandline, Jackson decided to choose the life of adventure easily obtainable as a pirate. His childhood friend and sparring partner, a girl by the name of Mara Kund soon had an opposing ambition to join the Marines. Regardless of this fact, the both of them pushed each other to become stronger for the purpose of their goals. Unlike many others who were called swordsmen, Mara and Jackson focused on fencing. The style was different from what most people saw and they poured their efforts into it. The two were evenly matched through their training and by the time they had come of age, that fact had not changed. Eventually, the pair were presented by their master a matching pair of rapiers. Beautifully designed, each blade was constructed to be virtually identical. In gold lettering at the base of each blade, the words “Equal Pair” confirmed this. It was only shortly after that Mara and Jackson left their home island, each going in their separate directions, promising that one day, there would come a fight that one would surly emerge the victor from. After leaving his home island, Jackson focused on gathering a crew to follow him. His swordplay however, could only get him so far and he had little success gathering members. The fact he didn’t own his own ship was also a major upsetting in his plan. Making his way from island to island via stowing away on various other ships, Jackson soon found himself in the midst of a naval battle between Pirates and a merchant ship carrying small arms. In the middle of the chaos, the young pirate wannabe managed to loot the pirate’s vessel, making off with a pair of devil’s fruits and a small boat. Arriving at the nearest island, Jackson immediately shipped one of the fruits to his friend and rival, Mara, in the Marines using an anonymous sender tag, “Equal Rival”. The boy had never read any texts on the fruits and did not know what fruit exactly he had sent Mara. Inside the box, he placed a letter reading: We have to make sue we remain on equal footing now, don’t we? From the remaining fruit, Jackson gained the power that is the basis of his nick name today. “Shield” Jackson soon became known as a pirate who’s flesh could not be cut nor pierced, and stood up even from crushing blows. Many of these claims were dismissed however due to his small bounty, but the name stuck. The true reason for his small bounty is that he is not particularly active against civilians or the military. Most of his actions remain unknown, but he was able to procure his own ship and currently controls a crew that little is known about.
Personality: Lazy and humorous, Jackson would rather tell a joke than lift a finger for anything. When he or his crew is threatened however, he will protect them without question. The pirate is also surprisingly intelligent; able to form complex plans impromptu. His ability to remember names, places and dates however, is far below average. Jackson’s sense of humor is often described as… morbid or offensive. It takes a certain kind of person to put up with that.
Ship: Cerulean Wake
Ship Flag: A single skull devoid of a lower jaw and having a splitting crack in the upper left rests in the center. The only further decoration on the flag is a pair of rapiers crossing the skull, blade tips facing down. The rapiers in the flag however, do not resemble the one Jackson wields. This may be because he wishes to keep the past relationship with Mara secret.
Devil Fruit: Saisei Saisei no Mi (Regeneration Fruit)
Type: Paramecia
Effect: This devil's fruit has a singular, passive ability attached to it. Initially, it can seem like the best thing in the world. The power granted by this fruit is that of instantaneous regeneration of any cell structure. This process is rapid enough that the user can not even be decapitated if it were tried. (Of course, if the blade is wider than their neck, it works. Guillotine anyone?) However great this may sound, there are a number of negative effects the user takes on because of this ability. First and foremost, the user still experiences pain. Although it disperses quickly, it can be a distraction against them. Secondly, the ability does nothing to lessen the force of attacks. If a user of this fruit is hit hard enough to be knocked out or sent flying, you can expect that to happen. Out in the open ocean, this is somewhat of a problem for a devil's fruit user. As the third point, the rapid healing will remove bullets and shrapnel from the body, but not the same for infectious diseases. Since the wound has no time to bleed or even have disinfectant applied, the chance of any such disease in a user of this fruit is significantly increased. It is advised that they have constant access to antibiotics. Finally, the greatest negative effect of this fruit is that of halted muscle growth. Generally, a person becomes stronger by first weakening and or slightly tearing their muscles through physical exertion. Since a user of this fruit will have his or her muscles healed before they can be significantly weakened or torn, they can not gain any strength. It would be rather problematic for someone if they were to have eaten this fruit as a child considering this fact. They will not however, become weaker overall. They will still suffer fatigue from a battle however.

Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25):
Great Lunge- As a standard lunge attack, but a piercing ray is shot from the blade’s tip.
Great Swirl- As a standard swirling motion with a rapier, except a gust is produced which may knock an opponent off balance.
Great Rain – Through technique rather than strength, an attack that shoots of multiple piercing shots in a short range in front of the user with surprising speed. Produces a cone-like area of effect.
Surprising reach – Using technique rather than physical strength, the blade seems to grow, allowing the next strike to hit at an increased range equal to an additional ¼ the blade’s true length.
Impossible Blow – Jackson stabs through the front of his own gut to hit an enemy behind him.
